    You're going to need an ingot drain from the assembler, because when the refineries back up they will fill that assembler leaving no room to fit other ingot types if needed.

      I was thinking the same thing! :)
      Assemblers are good at drawing the ingots they need and poor at removing the ones they don't..
      They have a talent for filling themselves up in general
      I like to put the assembler somewhere with direct access, so I can remove one off projects like guns and tools, rather than make a giant whitelist too..
      I often just use one sorter pulling ingots from both assembler and refinery, it results in an ingot loop through the assembler, but it keeps both clear
      I haven't tried using an ore sorter, I always just ran the refinery ore input pipe through a gas tank to filter out components and prevent my component sorter from creating a loop via the refinery... but I can see why a sorter could be better...

    Keep in mind that the *ore* entry includes ice, and the *ingots* entry doesn't include gravel.

    I usually use multiple storage containers once I get set up in survival, and just use my refineries as a part of the conveyor line from the mining ship dock, and have my assemblers being pulled by a sorter like that. But I can see how this can be useful and might use it in my next build

    Good setup but inefficient, the reason is that the ingots should go naturally to another separate container using the sorter to push them (whitelist INGOTS), then assembler can use them as required. Same goes with the assembler, it should push the components to its own cargo.
    Actually, I have changed my mind, I think it was wrong that system, the logic is that the ore sorter is a detriment to the refinery, because it can clog the production and the player will not be able to choose what goes first as the ore cant go back and refinery will be full. So, no sorter to refinery and for just one cargo container one sorter is fine but still I think another container is the way to go.

      Yes I recently switched to a soft key! The mechanical is nicer to use but not so much for recording. Thank you!

    DISCLAIMER: Hoping someone can help. Here is a lot of detail you probably don’t care about.
    I have set up a sorting system where it receives then sorts. If it’s a component or ammo , they go straight to their containers. If it’s ore it goes to a container where it waits for a free space in a refinery. It refines the ore, then a sorter returns the ingot to the temporary storage container. Then as I need new components, an assembler pulls up he resources and returns the new component to the temporary container where a sorter pulls out the components and delivers them to the components container.
    I have found that sometimes sorters loop items. It just pulls it’s item from itself, causing the items the item total to constantly change. Any suggestions on how to prevent loops?

      @RacinJsn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Never let a sorter form a loop like that, you should always pipe ore to a buffer storage, then pull it to refineries, then ingots go to the next bank of storage, then the finished components can wind up in general storage.

    All my connectors do is suck the shit i have in my assemblers and refineris and they sit in my connectors. Literally same set up you have. Meanwhile my minning ships have nothing taken out of them.
