Good video, reminds many of us surely of how unsatisfying our own field work sessions or disc golf rounds often feel. There’s always new info to extract from them and they are still valuable iterations that build toward the next one. Having these posted will add extra umph to the 750+ bomb you get filmed in future sessions.
Well said man. Those bad days can really be more helpful because they are rich with feedback and improvements we can make :) and make the good days feel better.
Spin can help because it reduces a disc's tendency to turn and to fade, but speed will move the needle the most in terms of time aloft since it increases the lifting force the disc experiences.
i havnt thrown in over 2 weeks and today i was out at the field and i finally broke my 430ft barrier i hit 482ft! i also think i might be able to throw further but my discs are just slightly understable i wonder if i beat one up a bit more could a get more out of it by giving it more hyzer and it still having that late turn etc.
That's awesome, congratulations on the new personal best!! Elbow is feeling a lot better I take it? Usually a slight hyzer release is biomechanically favorable for the human body, so definitely use discs that have the right stability for your most comfortable release angle to get that nice s-curve.
My thumb gets destroyed every time I throw a full power drive, I'm trying some grip gloves and they're working pretty well, just trying to get used to em. Have you considered wearing gloves? Now I just have to figure out my elbow. good stuff man
Sorry to hear about the thumb issue, that's frustrating for sure! I did research gloves a bit, but haven't tried them yet. I think my main concern is how they can reduce the tactile feel of the disc, but maybe it's not so bad. Luckily, I found a new power grip that feels good and is treating my fingers well thus far.
Been waiting for a new fieldwork video from you! I was happy watching anyways, man. Do you ever throw halo destroyers? I'm curious as to what your thoughts are on them, I know a lot of big distance guys really like them at least out on the course. Cheers!
And thank you for the continued support, I really appreciate it! I've been hearing the Calvin Halo Destroyers specifically have a great combination of beefyness and glide, just haven't thrown them yet due to the high cost. Luckily, this Gateway Ether (I have more on the way) seems like an even better version of the halo destroyers for my needs.
Just concentrate on raw power and speed until you hit 90mph. Your current disc release is good enough. I suggest keeping your fingers taped until they heal. One of Double-G's favorite discs for max distance is a Katana, so maybe give one a try. Hope this helps you!
I think we are definitely on the same page there, having all that horsepower will make the wind even less relevant for an 800ft throw, which will be really nice. If I can find some of the pop top katanas I could try it, but I'm suspicious that they won't hold up to 10-15mph more than GG's arm speed unfortunately. Luckily, this Gateway Ether I have now seems to have the glide and stability for me!
simon lizott throw close to 800 in turnament without turn around, maybe thats the next goal, 800 no turnaround 👍 his form must be perfect, keep it up krush 🙂🚀
I agree, I wasn't firing on all cylinders, and I was also trying really hard to increase my launch angle without increasing nose angle which induced a jumping finish with less balance.
@@NickKrush.DGandFit Ah makes sense. Thats one of the tough things about driving for distance, it can be very tough in the moment to realize youve let something “break”. Keep up the good work :)
Makes it more relatable to see that even you have the occasional setback/off day. Keep up the great work coach and take care of that finger!
Absolutely, and thank you for the support Jason! Hope you are doing better and I'm looking forward to when we get back out there next.
Bro's off day is 200ft further than I'll ever throw in my life
We all have those days brother. Only makes the goal juicier and juicier.
So true. A lot to learn from it, and helps reset the pain/pleasure balance as well!
Keep grinding! I look forward to next time, high hopes!
Thank you Ruben :) we'll be back and better sooner than later! Already have had some good easy form work days since then

”Failing” is part of growing. You still bombed 700ish.
So true. Thank you for the support!
Yeah, I hate it when I can't consistently get to 600 😂
😂 some perspective never hurts, haha
is spin the main difference between a disc staying up in the air versus dropping?
Spin can help because it reduces a disc's tendency to turn and to fade, but speed will move the needle the most in terms of time aloft since it increases the lifting force the disc experiences.

It wouldn't be an inspiring goal if you didnt have setbacks and difficulties. You kept a good attitude, and you will come back stronger!
Very true, and I appreciate the positive sentiment Kyle! We'll keep getting after it and making improvements 🤝

Is it just me or was your balance off in this vid compared to other vids?

I'm sure the wind was hard to read but You didn't look relaxed while throwing. I get it your trying your hardest. Smooth is far
