    I tried your recipe and it was awesome. My first attempt at cooking this dish was merely by looking at the instructions on the packaging and it was horrible! But after following your recipe for my second attempt, I can safely say I don't have to travel to restaurants to look for my favourite dish anymore!! Especially during this period :) Thanks for your awesome recipe Shana!

      You can get a similar effect by replacing the salted egg powder and milk with buttermilk and a little white pepper and turmeric. Granted it will be a little sour but still yummy and great with Rice

    • @hazzif2403
      @hazzif2403 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Recipesaresimple They don't have salted egg powder here, so let just confirm, I can use buttermilk instead?

    • @Recipesaresimple
      @Recipesaresimple  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yoghurt and milk will do. Take 1/2 cup thick yoghurt. Add 1/2 tsp chilli powder/ paprika ,1/2 tsp cornstarch, 1/2 tsp honey, 1/2 tsp white pepper powder, and 1 tsp softbutter- whisk this well and set aside. Prepare chicken all the same.
      Continue same
      Process for sauce but in place of salted egg powder or salted egg, add the whipped mixture and stir briefly. Follow all other steps for sauce as in video . Add milk in two parts 1 cup then 1/2 cup in the 1/2 cup mix 1 tsp cornstarch and add last. Once thickened add a tiny 🤏 pinch of turmeric powder.
      It may not be the exact same but is a great version without salted egg- follow all other steps exactly the same.

    Why the colour is whitish at 1st. Then in the end you show the dish is more yellowish? Did you add more salted egg powder?

    • @Recipesaresimple
      @Recipesaresimple  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No its just faded in the kitchen lighting later the dish is rested and photographed in a different light. Too much powder is not recommended.

    Hello instead of breading my chicken can I just fry the frozen one for a quicker time to cook??

    • @Recipesaresimple
      @Recipesaresimple  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fry the ‘thawed from frozen’ chicken? Yes, however it will lack the texture and flavour as when using battered chicken. It absorbs the sauce excellently and is more tender and bouncy in texture.

      It changes the flavour slightly.

      Bsy leaves has a very different flavour profile and I don’t recommend it with that of salted egg. Curry leaves is an essential flavouring for-this however it may be omitted if not available.

    • @Recipesaresimple

      Taste wise there is no good substitute. The aroma and subtle flavour is hard to mimic. You can omit it. You could replace with
      Lime leaf, basil or lemon balm for a different flavour though!

    Can i just use curry powder instead of leaves?

    • @Recipesaresimple
      @Recipesaresimple  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Curry powder is totally different.. it’s a combination of dried powdered spices whereas curry leaves are the fresh 🌿..
      Curry powder would drastically change the outcome of the original dish .. I would rather you didn’t use it. If curry leaves aren’t available its best to omit them.. you could try a few leaves of basil or few pieces of pandan leaf. ( different flavours ) but still work!
      Hope this helps.
