I have a 2021 CA Route 1, space gray, rear wheel drive only, living in SoCal. I chose it for 2 reasons. It was available, and I love the range. Two years of ownership and I'm completely satisfied. Oh, I don't have home charging which is why range is so important to me. If I would have ordered it, it is the model and color I would have selected.
I love how Patrick tried to hit the button to close the hatch, realized it was manual, then moved his hand to the handle. Loving my CaRt1 - almost 10,000 miles and zero issues. I enjoy driving to work in the HOV lanes. BTW, my California Route 1 is rear wheel drive. I do enjoy the glass roof every day here in Los Angeles.
The CART1 range is outstanding and is a bigger difference to the GT in real life than on paper. Realistically in my GT, I get 200-220 miles using 90% of a charge. The CART1 can do the same miles as the GT and still continue on down the road for another hour. That’s a big deal. The other major advantage of the CART1 is that recharge times are faster for the same miles. A 20 minute charge in the GT will get ~90 miles of range back but the CART1 gets 120+ miles. That adds up real fast.
Still liking my Infinite Blue (discontinued color) 2021 Premium ER, both color and performance. The best mach e for the buck was buying it two years ago - after tax credit, under $50k!
Love the vapour blue color! Personally, I feel like the added comforts of the premium make it a better choice for me but it’s great to see the Mach-e getting such great efficiency and range! Perhaps the perfect spec would be premium with 18” wheels?
Great video! I bought premium this weekend and really really looking forward driving it. I can really feel in your videos how much you’re enjoing it! Thx for sharing your experiences!
I ve been driving an id4 first edition for 2 years 50k km and although i like the EV driving, the build quality is far below any of the other VW’s I ve driven in the past 30 years
Ah that sucks. I'm sorry to hear that. We certainly found the built quality to be a bit lower than the Mach-E but we don't have 30 years of VW experience so I appreciate you sharing your input! - Liv
I loved this video. I ordered my Cyber Orange Metallic CART1 on September 2022 and it is scheduled for production in two weeks. I can’t wait! Thanks for this video 😊
I got a 23 CART1, Rapid Red, and I feel I made the right choice after 5k miles on it. I am an EV engineer and CART1 is the ideal choice because you get more throughput for the same battery pack hence longer life. Done some road trips in the Midwest winter and got 2.8 efficiency. I feel it's the most bang for the buck too 😊.
I own a grabber blue'22 CART-1 and saw the range reach 310 on a trip from FL to NC but never again. We got it for the range and it had the best incentive at the time. Great deal from a FL Ford dealership too. I still love it. I didn't know of the auto lane changing. That's cool! I would like to see a video on self parking.
I bought An 2022 white 3 coats Mach-e select awd, standard range with techno/confort package. I just love it and it get better with all the OTA update. I select this one because of the full credit tax of 13kCAN$. I would love the premium for the sound system or the GT for the performance but it as lot of money. I'll upgrade this summer for probably a 2022 GT perf.
I love your videos, and this one is no exception! You are fans of the Mach-E without being over the top and unwilling to point out deficiencies when you find them. That attitude is best expressed in your signoff tagline, as it is really about what everyone enjoys the drive! To me, the Premium is the best combo of features and price, but that's largely based on what features one finds important. Your comments about the extra range are significant, because you've spent so much time in your GT-PE and the FE, as are your comments about the Magneride suspension. I had the chance recently to test drive a Vapor Blue Premium and an Arctic Orange GT-PE. The former had the latest and greatest software (but not BlueCruise 1.2). It was very interesting to note the differences between them back-to-back. The newer software was a huge improvement. So much so, that I would have insisted on them upgrading the software as a condition of taking the GT-PE. The color and the instantaneous power delivery of the GT-PE was dangerous for my wallet, but I was surprised at how little difference the Magneride suspension made on both city streets, country roads, and the highway. I was expecting more, but that's a good thing, because even though I enjoyed the extra power, the Premium is already plenty fast and the extra cost of the GT-PE over the Premium is steep for me. I found the Vapor Blue a little too subtle for this car. The Infinity Blue was a nicer shade, but again, that's personal preference. I would take Vapor Blue over many of the other colors, but my first choices would be Rapid Red and Arctic Orange, followed by Grabber Blue and Star White (even though I don't care for white, the Star White could change my mind).
Thank you so much for such kind words and a thoughtful share! I actually do agree with you that Infinite Blue was nicer. I thought Vapor Blue would look a bit more greeny blue in person but it’s more grey, whereas Infinite Blue was more colorful in person - Liv
I like how bright the grabber blue is. I definitely would be able to find my car in the parking lot with that bright color. The vapor blue color shifting effect is really nice, too. Wish they could have combined the brightness of the grabber blue and color shifting of the vapor blue.
My vapor blue premium extended all wheel nite pony package is due to be built this week , can’t wait, I was thinking about getting a 2nd set of wheels, aerodynamic like the CART1, eventually, for range, I almost ordered a CART1, but wanted better stereo and lights.
Not the only difference causing range difference. Your GTPE has two big motors while the Rt.1 and premium get one big motor in the back and a smaller motor up front.
I have the 2022 CR1 think it's the best compromise since I get the 330 range realistically 300+ city 280 highway more or less and still get the 0-60 in 4.8s 1 sec slower than a gt and 20K less
That's a fantastic color. I have a 2021 CA Route 1 RWD in Star White. I love the metallic white but this color I would've got if they had it back in 2021.
I still keep my hand on the steering wheel when using blue cruise. Several times in the last 10 years, I’ve had to make a sudden maneuver due to animal crossing the road, some thing falling off a truck, a vehicle suddenly swerving into my lane, or a tire are going flat. Until these cars will make a steering correction when something unexpected happens I don’t think it’s a good idea to to not have your hands on the wheel . These are not self driving cars. They are just hands-free lane centering. Enjoy all your videos!
I think it pays to be on the ready. Most of the time (when not filming) I just keep my hand on the steering wheel. It does make it nice to open a water bottle or something and go hands free for a few seconds, but that is about it.
I’ve got a Rapid Red 2021 SR AWD. Love the vapour blue colour and it looks great in the sun. Living in Scotland though with all our grey skies I wanted an eye catching colour to brighten up my day and it sure does that! 😄

I have a question about the louvers in the front. Is there a manual override that allows me to open the front vent doors for cleaning? The problem is that insects and small birds may get lodged and cause issues. If not, is there a process to let Ford know that this may need to be added as a feature.
Great review of the California Route 1. I have not seen many of these available for purchase in Canada but less than 2 weeks ago, my wife and I chose the Premium AWD with extended battery in the Grabber blue colour and we love it. We have already had it protected with the CarPro Paint Protection Film. We are looking forward to going on some road trips this year.
I wish the glass roof was an option as I really do not like them. Also, I have never had a tire failure that the sealant would have done anything for other than making a mess.

Question: have you guys ever tried taking the aero covers off the Mach E? If so, you simply unbolt it and remove them or you have to jack the car up and everything to have them removed?

Wouldn't make much difference on the Select since the wheels are about the same size (and probably weight/aero). But on the Premium, I bet you would get around a 5 to 7% increase.

You should be able to swap with no issues.
