  • What's the benefit of a Double Square nipple design? What is Secure Lock? Should you choose alloy nipples or brass? We have tried a lot of different nipples over the years. Find out which ones we have chosen to build with.

Thanks a lot. We had a good time making it. Things could have gotten really out of hand with this one. Have a great day and thanks for your comment.

Ive heard from 3 different wheel builders to not use or wont use aluminum. After doing alot of research, glad i found this info, i will most likely try these on my build and see how they hold up. Thx

What about nipple washers? When they should be used? Should I use nipple washers on carbon rims?

There's a ton of reasons to use nipple washers. Sometimes the nipple holes are not drilled at angles, or the rim isn't thick enough, or if the nipples are too small, etc.
With that said, we design our rims with angled spoke holes and a thick enough rim bed so that nipple washers are not required when building our wheels.

@@101picofarad We typically aim to build mountain bike wheels to 125-130kgf and road to around 110. Going to 150kgf is too high. Please email support@lightbicycle.com and let our customer service team know your spokes and rim specs, the team will help you determine the right tension. I only use Brass for a strong and long lasting wheel build. Modern tech is becoming more and more like junk that has a short lived life.
