Thanks for some awesome vids man. I've seen 'em all and tuned my Blade 400 with your help. :D Got a GY401, Hitec HS-65MG's for cyclic and a JR DS290G for the tail. All working perfectly now, thanks to you. :D Keep up the good work man.
Sokal, Just doing my Blade & 401. Everything seem to work, but once I go to HH, and move rudder stick, I get the double flash? Instruction say this is caused by HH (AVCS) signal different from neutral signal memoriaed in the gryo? No sure what this means. Thanks Great video!
hey sokal thanks for the videos they are REALLY helpful I am new to my blade 400 and I was just wondering what one of these set ups cost you with the 401 and the tail servo also wtf is BEC?
is the gyro suppose to blink when you give it some input? mine blinks when i give it right or left input while flying, holds pretty cool but gets that little bounce back after the turn not much but a little.
subtrim is to help align the servo arms to be 90deg out from the swah controls arm so each servo has a diffreent setting if all yours are perfect with 0 sub trim thats great one less step
that must be sweet as for your bounce back effect iv found if you have subtrim in the tail it causes this as the gyro center is not RX center my 401 setting is 0 sub 0 trim see if that helps
thats great one thing i forgot was to add how to adj the limit. just hold the rudd stick to one side and adj till the slider backs off then adj till it bearly touches the end
hmm oh well holds dam nice i was flying small circles indoors in a pretty tight space lol the gyro hold makes me so confident i even flew my trex 600 nose in indoors and I have only had 3 flights on that! lol, i got a JR7703D in that one, holds like a rock
@~6:00 "It's a pretty good mod..." I think the only really useful one. No matter what I tried, couldn't get the stock servo stop drifting either left or right. Pretty good video! Although would be interesting to hear about the delay switch!?
@benjaminstats the 401 and the 3400g at the time was about $200 now days thier comparable gyros and servos for alot less. a bec lets the battery power the RX and the servos directly instead of the ESC youll gain the 6v or more power and incase the ESC blows you still have power to the servos.
the hs-65 will improve tail but its best to get a tail servo that can take the digital pulse rate from gyros like the 290g for one but reversing will depend on witch way you install it just remember tail control moves the slider opposite of stick input
when operating the tail make sure the slider moves opposit the direction you put in ie left rudd stick slider goes right for gyro compensattion when you move tail left with hand slider will move opposit the direction you moved tail if nor reverse the switch on the gyro itself in the TX gyro rev should be normal and if tail moves wrong on in put you have to rev the rudd servo in TX
you dont have to do the 3 flip each flight. after you have it setup make sure TX has the flap gyro switch set to HH mode and rebind this will save the info to the RX in case the RX looses power and reboots it will automaticly pick up low settings or the setting u had in when binded. this helps with gyro initializations if the RX powers up after the gyro. if not you will notice the light bink with no input later. so far all i found to fix was to bind and it never reoccured
thiera a switch on the gyro its self to reverse the compensation in put now make sure that yu check the rudd control input if you put left input in the slider on the tail shaft should move opposit of your in put now when in hh mode to check that its compensating properly hold tail and move it left the slider should move opposit also
you may have discharged them too far onve you go beyond the 80% on the charge your hurting the battery. i highly recomend a charger with a cell voltage dislplay and able to tell you how much amp you put back in to keep track of your 80% also the stock charger needs at least a 15v with 50wats and they also are not acurate and easily fail
Thanks for taking the time to do this. You should add a clip at the end with the tail holding to demo the 3400/401 combo.
Just want to say thanks for the helpful video! I was really stuck and your setup has helped alot.
Greetings from Norway

Have to say thankyou for all your video with good advise here, I can learn to fly and setup my blade and raptor in a week.
thankyou
Thanks for the the video. My blade 400 is finally holding steady.
Sokal,
Just doing my Blade & 401. Everything seem to work, but once I go to HH, and move rudder stick, I get the double flash? Instruction say this is caused by HH (AVCS) signal different from neutral signal memoriaed in the gryo? No sure what this means. Thanks
Great video!
tail blades should rotate upinto the main or counterclock wise if not belt need to be fixed so that it will spin the T/r properly
whats your servos?

I've been told it's for slow servos. Does that equal analog servos?
why dont you like the gyro that comes with the blade 400?
are u using the stock tail servo with the 401
or with stock gyro
not sure about the futaba TX but i rebinded the TX/RX with the gyro gain set to heading hold and it fixed that issue.
but again futaba may be diffrent
subtrim is to help align the servo arms to be 90deg out from the swah controls arm

yes the jr290 is a digital tail servo very capable of digital mode of the gyro
the blinking is normal when giving rudder input
thats great
one thing i forgot was to add how to adj the limit. just hold the rudd stick to one side and adj till the slider backs off then adj till it bearly touches the end
how much for what? if you want the 401 gyro it's 139.99 at more retail, the heli is somewhere around 400 + or - a hundred dollars
hmm oh well holds dam nice i was flying small circles indoors in a pretty tight space lol the gyro hold makes me so confident i even flew my trex 600 nose in indoors and I have only had 3 flights on that! lol, i got a JR7703D in that one, holds like a rock
Hi Sokal
Please help still have small amout of tail wag with gy401 gyro and futaba digital servo how do i fix
@~6:00 "It's a pretty good mod..." I think the only really useful one. No matter what I tried, couldn't get the stock servo stop drifting either left or right. Pretty good video! Although would be interesting to hear about the delay switch!?
my subtrim is all 0 maybe cuz im using the stock servo?

Sorry, seems to be a translation mistake. The german manual only mentions the S9253 and S9250 as high speed servos.
if your tail servo is in HH mode gain above 50% then it wont return to center for it trying to read the drift
gain lower than 50 and it should center
using a tail rotor servo would be best with the 401
the stock gyro works just fine
not as good as the 401 but will work well for the beginer.
you may have discharged them too far onve you go beyond the 80% on the charge your hurting the battery. i highly recomend a charger with a cell voltage dislplay and able to tell you how much amp you put back in to keep track of your 80% also the stock charger needs at least a 15v with 50wats and they also are not acurate and easily fail
Is this account still active?? I have a blade im having trouble getting set up and would love to talk to someone about it
Been a long time but possibly I can help
you may need to lower the gain
thanks for the vid im doing this mod this week
i bought the JR heli servo pack and the 401
the 3400g is $70 and my 401 was $120
the JR servo pack was 160 has 3 285 and 1 3400G
