It was so good to see Jeff singing with Alabama & Home Free on 'Christmas in Dixie' on Home Free's Christmas special. Rest in peace Mr. Cook, you earned your place in Heaven.

I fell hard for the group somewhere between my junior and senior years of HS (graduated HS in 1982) and have been a fan since. We are so blessed to be new members of the Fort Payne/Valley Head community. Oh my goodness this place is the closest place to heaven I’ve ever been. Much love to you and yours, Randy and much love for all the beautiful music you’ve blessed the world with.

In 1980 I was 17 and had joined the Army. I was getting ready to go into airborne school and some friends and me went riding horses before we had to report to the main base at FT Benning.
I had a transistor radio I carried in my shirt pocket. A song came on and all 4 of us just stopped. We never made a sound while it was playing and even our horses never moved. The song was, " My Homes In Alabama".
That song has stayed with me the rest of my life. I'm close to 62 now and even today, I get the same emotions that I had the first time I heard it.
There will never be another Alabama in my life time. And to tell the truth, they are so unique that I believe that God just gave us one "Alabama" because, He does things only once, because it is perfect everytime.

Alabama has always been one of my favorite bands. I love the energy! The songs inspire. Every time I listen to them it’s like the first time. I’m so glad I still get to watch them singing up on stage. Jeff’s still right up there with them.

ALABAMA BAND: MOUNTAIN MUSIC TOUR 1982:
In 1982 on the Mountain Music tour I met drummer Mark Herndon during a break of the band playing softball 🥎 against the local radio station DJ’s. I was a beginning drummer and asked him how to play the fast part on Mountain Music. He showed me with his hands on his legs explaining it was a paradiddle-diddle between the kick and snare 🥁. He said to learn it slowly listening to Ride the Train from the Feels So Right album. I’ll never forget how kind he was to a young drummer and a total stranger! I’ll always love the Alabama band!

You're speaking my language, Randy. Your family and mine sound so much alike. The country life is a hard life, but a good life. My Daddy would have been 88, miss him every day.He worked in a cotton mill. Mama will be 86 in November. My Daddy and Mama married young. They would have been married 70 years this year. Proud of my Southern heritage, born bred in the mountains of South Carolina. May God bless you and your family.

I have my picture with this young lady, and she was so gracious. We were at a Martina McBride fan thingy. She was called away right when I asked her to take a pic with me and she told them " You are gonna have to wait because I have to take a picture with Ron first". Bless her heart!

i remember in the 80's , dont remember the year, my cousin and i had been to an Eagles concert and we were at my grandmothers home...and her neighbor was there, the neighbor said have you ever heard of a band called ALABAMA? and of course we didnt...she said they are my nephews and are going to hit it big...one of them sent her tickets everytime they were in the area...so she was sick and gave us her tickets and we went to birmingham al to a show and got to meet them after the show...now i know the family but not close enough to them personally...we were one of the first members to their fan club and this was the year of the first june jam , whatever year it was...the family are really good people from aunts to cousins....we saw them in concert maybe 5 times, birmingham , jacksonville state....and was always a good show.....

Randy needs to make things right with Mark. For himself, Mark and the fans. It’s heartbreaking he pretends Mark didn’t exist. I know for a fact Mark would welcome a reconciliation.

Really, was Mark an original member?

    • @markj9267
      @markj9267 ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@gloriacasella1185 no. but he was only in the band for 30 years and was inducted in the hall of fame with everyone else. so he's kinda important. Randy needs to make things right. But he's stubborn and holds grudges.

    • @graystone3048

Glad someone said it. The way Mark was treated is criminal.
They had him ride in a separate bus with the crew.

He wasn't an original member of the band and supposedly the records put him in there to compare them to the Beatles.
