    I wondered weather you were asking the young lady what species of fish it was as oppose to if it was dried or salted . Loved this interesting video mate. Nice one BC 👍🏼🍻🇦🇺

    • @balloonchaser

      Yes, absolutely SG. I thought she'd tell me the species. Actually, I was on a mackerel hunt as that's the local speciality! I hear you're in town? Hopefully, we'll meet!

    That sign about no limbs outside the train reminds me of The Young One when Vivian stuck his head outside the window on the train to London 😂😂😂 what an episode that was . Great vlog BC the train journey was great fun . Love the instagram comment 😂😂 so true . Looking forward to the next one 👏👏👏

      Thanks, Jimmy. We'd be both showing our ages if we admitted watching the Young Ones. Really edgy humour in it's day. I was a big Rik Mayal fan tbh! It was a fun day out. Hopefully do a few more similar days in the next few weeks!

      Thanks, PFI. It's a cheap, fun day out to be honest!

    nice video 😊.. I usually take a ferry from Taksin ..all the way up river to the end stop.. its very cheap 20 baht? there is a market and a nice restaurant on the river just before you dock.. its very easy, just sit there and watch the world go past.. 😊

    • @balloonchaser

      Thanks, Chris. I really should do some more river trips. I used to use the river boats quite a lot when I first moved to Bangkok. Sadly, no camera back then! But you are right. Very cheap and some great views.

    Great journey ...rock and roll train with a driver who blows the horn like a traffic cop with a whistle. 555 quick ferry ride and onto the next train. Tii nii I understand. Thanks for this BC, entertaining and informative as per usual. Kudos

      Thanks, Ric. I think that's your sort of trip, a rock n roll vibe with some pretty laid-back people? It was fun as a day out. And definitely suited my budget for the day. Only pain was having to return to Bangkok in a minivan. Might have been better to get a taxi. But anyway, saved enough money for the next one!

    Great video. I've been to this market by car before (with Thai family, not one of the expensive tours! Of course, Thai family can make any trip expensive for the farang if they wish!). Thanks for showing how to get there on the actual train -- might use your video as a guide for a future trip!

    • @balloonchaser

      Many thanks! There's no doubt the most 'convenient' way to get there is by car, especially, I imagine when travelling with a family. But going the whole way, and arriving, by train did make it feel like a bit of an adventure. Give it a go next time and let me know how you found it! Cheers!

    Cool trip, better than the actual Instagram market ? I think i would get lost on the way there somehow.

    • @balloonchaser

      I don't think the things they sell at the market are exceptional, really. But the way they sell them is. That's the instagram bonus! Honestly, you wouldn't get lost. There's always other people to follow and signs. Plus the locals are friendly! Give it a go if you get the chance!

    ANOTHER great and informative video, BC. I'd be interested in a day trip from BKK to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market to Wat Sam Phran (Dragon Temple), then back to BKK.

    • @balloonchaser

      Many thanks for the comment. That sounds like a good trip. In fact, it sounds so good, I will put it on the list for my "Days Out from Bangkok" series, if you don't mind?

    • @PakhwanFromTexas

      @balloonchaser I'd be flattered. I hope to make this day trip this October when I visit.

      @PakhwanFromTexas OK, it's officially on the list! Thanks for the idea!

      @balloonchaser You already covered Ayutthaya for me (Thank you). I planned on adding Dream World amusement park as well to that day trip.
      Another day trip I was considering was BKK to Siam Amazing Park to Harajuku, then back to BKK.

    • @balloonchaser

      Thanks! I've been to Dreamworld a few times, but that was before I started making videos. It was on my "to do" list! Siam Amazing Park & Harajuku are places I've never been to, but certainly fit the family friendly entertainment theme! I'll do a bit more research! Cheers for the ideas!

    Wow - a bit complicated to find your way around to each point. I can see now why most folks take a tour to the market. But I guess when retired and a Vlogger, you have time to do it yourself. I might have to try it myself as a cool way to see the real Bangkok (now that I have your directions). Thanks

    • @balloonchaser

      Thanks. I think you make a fair comment. Actually the train was pretty empty until the last but one station. Then all the Tour groups get on, and that's when it becomes crowded! I hope the video makes it a bit easier to navigate. At least going independently, you get the impression that you are seeing a bit more of the "real thai". Give it a go if you have the chance!

    Minivan with Bolt back to the city is how much, and how long?

    • @balloonchaser

      I returned on a minivan. They have one to On Nut or one to Morchit. The cost was 100 Baht. I did check Bolt, but it was around 800 Baht, I think. Out of my price range for that day! Journey time on the van was around 2 hours, although we did get stuck in traffic. I'm told on a good day they can do it in just over an hour.

    So, did your train get there at 11:10? You had to wait until 14:30 to see another train go through the market?

    • @balloonchaser

      Yes, that sounds about right! I had some lunch and had a leisurely look round the market. Later on stopped for a drink at one of the stalls. Also went over and looked at the nearby river. It was ok. But obviously you can arrive and spend as short a time as you like there. I got a minivan back to Bangkok. They run regularly.

    Interesting concept I suppose. In line with the "safety first" attitude we see all across SE Asia. The ticket is super cheap and I suppose it would appeal to people who want to see something authentic. For me, i used to dread going to the market every week. The smell really got me. Surprising that they brought your ticket back to you. I would not have expected that at all. "You lost. You pay again." That is what I would expect.

    • @balloonchaser

      Thanks, David. You touched on the point I was trying to make. Once you get outside the big city centres and tourist areas people seem much more helpful and interested to chat. Yes, I forgot to pick up my ticket, but they seemed happy to be able to find me and give it back. Smiles all round. In all honesty, I'm not the worlds biggest market fan, and this one did have a fishy smell in areas. But I do love the getting there and feeling of "exploration", albeit on a very well trodden path!

    Super vid BC. see the ploy of leaving your ticket behind didn't work and you still had to ride that train. surprised you didn't turn your cap round and pretend to be a kid and save 2 baht on the ferry. guess your soi dogs not the ones that beat up Mr. Egg.

    • @balloonchaser

      Thanks, BB. I've got more chance of the senior citizens free pass than sneaking in as under age....I was happy to get my ticket back. I mean who knows what the fine cud have been for evading a 10 Baht fare!?! And those 2 dogs in my video looked too docile to attack anyone. The ones on Pratumnak are highly trained killers!
