Elisa writes herself all of her songs: this one was part of her third album "Then comes the sun", she was only 23years old at that time. By the way she lives in a village nearby to mine, I have seen her around many times and, despite her popularity, I can say she has always stayed the same, keeping also the same friends since she was attending school. She is a pure talented artist and a great heart person, and you can feel this listening to her many beautiful songs.

She became quite known in the US in 2008 after "Dancing" was used for a routine in the TV show "So You Think You can Dance" (performance: th-cam.com/video/q3djzj_hMk0/w-d-xo.html) - This performance from the "Concerto di Natale in Vaticano" had a loooot of views back then. A Song of her born looking at a picture of her, painted by her, in her picture there was painted a tear with another tear inside her. The words of the Song were written by her, with the help of her mother, and by Zucchero Fornaciari a great Italian singer. In this video there is her performance at the Festival with English translation.

The voice is great, but nothing to do with Celin Dion, as she's also a songwriter and a great musician, Celin Dion has a more conventional voice and way of singing, so I think it's on a total different range, apart taking some high notes that can make you tkink to her (this is a personal opinion, of course and I know all the songs she made, so I know her style is totally different)
You don't know who F. De André was? If you know L. Cohen or B. Dylan you should definitly know De André. If I can make a comparison, it would be like knowing Shakespeare and ignoring Dante Alighieri...
