I really find hard to figure out why you don't make reactions to the greatest Italian artists. I just discovered a movie celebrating Paolo Conte will be out in a few days. What about Fabrizio de Andrè? He is considered one (if not "the") of the greatest Italian song writers. Vecchioni, Fossati, De Gregori, Dalla, Battiato, Renato Zero, Venditti, Baglioni, Guccini, Branduardi, Finardi, P. Daniele...all of them should be in your list when it comes to react to good Italian music..... I really don't understand... Then there are female interpreters like Mina, Caterina Caselli, Milva, Rita Pavone, Mia Martini, Alice, Patty Pravo, and many more... Paolo Conte is more popular in France than in Italy for example...

Paolo Conte is a great artist but the reason why he is not so polular in Italy is because his style iscritto specific of Genoa region, which is close to France, with a specific style that cannot be liked by everyone in Italy- Myself I am not a fan, although I know he is a good artist
Some.of the artists you mention (Guccini, De Gregori) are too connected to politics in the 70s (strongly Left style) to be still widely appreciated today, as they are tipicamente of that era, even more than older artists that simply sang about love- Others like Venditti and Battiato or De André (which I love all) are actually poeta who also sing- Its not easy gor somebody who is not Italian to appreciate them fully
