In a day where everything online is so curated it is so nice to see honest reality. This is the reality for the majority. Not the brand-new kitchens and fashionable furniture. You could choose to only capture "perfect" looking corners of your life, but you don't. You expose the chipped cupboards, dirty dishes, and general chaos of life; what a gift. There is romance in the reality of that imperfection. This is your house of dreams and we are so lucky that you allow us a window into it.

I am 73, I raise six children all gone, and my grandchildren are all grown up. Believe me when I tell you life is but a vapor ..my furniture is all vintage and even when I was younger it was vintage. I enjoy washing dishes so I took my dishwasher out years ago and made it a storage closet for dog food and recycling. It is so soothing watching you work in the kitchen, I hesitate to use the word work, lol. Thank you for another inspiring video. Have a blessed Sunday my friend. And yes please, I love the cleaning videos.❤❤

My beloved grandmother used to talk about “a tidy mess”. When we would visit, after dinner we would stack the dishes ready to be washed but she wanted us all to sit and talk, so she would say “leave the kitchen at a tidy mess and we’ll have a cup of tea”.
Those memories of us all sitting chatting and laughing with dishes stacked on the side are amongst my most treasured 🥰

If anyone out there embroidery, this would make a beautiful sampler. "Leave the kitchen at a tidy mess, and we'll have a cup of tea."

Your comment made me cry. I hope it’s okay but I took a screenshot of it. My grandpa is 97 and he and my gramma would do the same stacking. She would tell us not to clean any more than clearing the table because, “it will give me something
to do” after we would drive home into the city.

I love to decorate and have joy and pride in my home but my dream home is one that is tailored to suit me and my family. I have a hot pink couch that some people think is tacky, a slightly cluttered kitchen that is used and lived in every single day. I also have a fluffy little dog that creates tumbleweeds of fur balls that I have to clean on the regular and a kiddo trying to learn to cook but is currently a pretty sloppy chef. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Not what’s trendy or what someone else says is beautiful but everything at speaks to ME. I’m covered in threads from a sewing project, fighting a cold and I paused cleaning my kitchen to comment. I love this content. We all need a gentle reminder like this sometimes.

I almost began bawling. This is EXACTLY the video I need. I am pregnant with our 5th baby and the housework seems overwhelming at times. Your audio over the footage brought such a feeling to my heart- like you SAW me, through my exact struggles, and gave me the hug that I needed. Please, please never stop making this video series. I feel like the more that I embrace slow living, my love for vintage & antique things, and work hard to focus of cherishing my children- with my boys’ challenging ADHD behaviors and neurodivergent brains- I find myself drifting further and further from watching TH-cam channels that show “aesthetic” living, with perfectly curated, unattainable images and childless lifestyles. Yours is the only channel I feel like watching, with its authenticity and beauty of reality. ❤❤❤❤

Some of the best advice I've heard about home making/house work is don't do it to get it *done*. It will never be done. But rather, one needs to learn to enjoy the process.

This made me cry. The sincerity in your voice rings so deep. It reminds me of the old poem that starts out,
    "Thank God for dirty dishes
They have a tale to tell.
    While others may go hungry
    We're doing very well".
I had the same view of housewife-ing before I broke my back, pretty severely. Now everything is so hard. You sure can't eat off my floors anymore. But you've reminded me that I CAN still roll my wheelchair into the kitchen and start baking fresh bread again. For so long I've let myself be defeated by what I CAN'T do, when there are so many things I still CAN do. That big beautiful loaf of bread brought back so many wonderful memories for me. Thank you. I can't say that enough. Thank you so very much ❤

My father died when I was a teenager and his best friend's family made me part of their family. I was welcome there anytime. His wife was not a good housekeeper and the house was usually in huge disarray. The meals were random in both time and quality. But I was loved and made to feel like I belonged. I still have the memory of the sanctuary they made for a lonely, scared young girl.
Years later, I was often around my aunt. Her house was spotless and it ran like clockwork, meals were on-time and tasted great. But she had a horrible temper, everyone walked on eggshells, meals couldn't be enjoyed. She really didn’t want anyone there to mess up her house and it showed. I still have memories of that place too, how sad and unwelcome I felt.
The contrast was incredible. Dust balls, canned spaghetti, and love make a home.

100 Percent relate-able! I say it isn’t always about what my house looks like but what it can provide. My fam moved 15 times when my husband served 34 years in the army and home was wherever we landed..I’ve lived in it all. Now retired, our forever home is a bit outdated and would never be instagram famous, but it does give us something special ❤ because it’s filled with family! I was always a little embarrassed by my second hand decor and clutter, but now I just do what I can. Small things…because I live that never ending loop of cleaning, too! 🧹 and grown kids are even bigger mess makers! Haha! This video was 💯 percent and then some! Thank you for always keeping it both real and beautiful! 😍 your home is magic 🪄 and you are too!

You could have been my own mother speaking. You brought back so many memories of her. I see you and your small daughter and remember my mother putting me on a stool beside her in the kitchen, playing Miss Polly’s Beauty Shop when she would wash and pin curl my long hair, and never making a big deal of messes and saying, “a little dirt never hurt anyone”. She once gave advice to someone, “Everything can’t be important.” If I could have been a mother I would hope to have had the same outlook as you and her. You’re doing a great job and I love your channel. Thank you for sharing.

Oh that was so warm and comforting to an elderly lady who is alone most of the time. I always loved having the children at home but often felt as if my home wasn’t tidy enough! Now watching you at home with your little ones, I can see that this is what real life and real love looks like. I would happily go back and do it all again.
In the 50s, my mum would let us children cook and make a mess, then we’d eat the food and be happy. She would then clear up and do the dishes. All seven of us can cook well, and love our families. My ex husband’s mother wouldn’t let anyone cook because it made a mess, and guess what? He couldn’t cook or even bear a mess. He even used to try and make our kids do all the washing up after they made cookies but I didn’t want to take away their pleasure at cooking. And guess what? My kids all love cooking for their children and for others.
Also, love the colourful house you have. There are so many ‘clean with me’ videos where the whole entire house is grey! The paintwork is white, but all the bedding, the furnishings and the décor is grey. There are no pictures on any walls and the closets are half full of grey clothes with some black and white. Honestly, it all looks so sad and dreary to me and sort of like a prison. So I am very glad when I see your lovely colourful house because it’s like mine. I love all the colours and the pictures that I live with and I love my colourful clothes.
Thank you for the help you give to so many people and it’s like you give us permission to be real! Bless you ❤❤❤

This video felt so valid for me as a mother of three. I have spent so much time trying to hide the way we live because it is so impossible to keep it the kind of "clean," that I see online. I can't manage it. I felt so ashamed when people (without kids,) would comment on my photos. I need to make that jump to content creation. This really took the steam out of my anxiety and made me feel more okay with reality.

My Nanna had a fridge magnet that said "keeping the place clean while the kids are growing is like shovelling snow when it's still snowing" I never forgot it. I have a horrid inner voice, a perfectionist streak I've been fighting all my life and I'm working SO hard all the time to keep them quiet. This video is glorious, beautiful and full of calm and comforting life. Just like all your channel.
Whenever I feel like a bad mother, wife, person, because I have lost grip on my house a little, I read 'peepo' by Janet and Allan Alberg, and any children's books by Shirley Hughes. They were my absolute favourites as a child and the illustrations are of homes and people that are beautiful, a bit cluttered, gently chaotic, alive. I have to remind myself that THAT is the life I wanted when I was little. Lovely things, happy children, cheerful chaos. I never longed for sterile and immaculate worlds because they didn't seem alive to me.
I'm still finding my way as a mother, homemaker, homeschooler, everything. And striving for better and easier but I don't have to make my self feel dreadful and inadequate in the process.
Thank you for being the loveliest.

I am not a single mom, but I am 40+ years old, newly married for the first time while working as an RN full-time and fighting my own health issues. I have struggled with the house looking even tidy. My husband is a ball of energy, and things sometimes are left partially done. I'm learning to say I'm sorry it's getting the best of me, and just enjoy being with my spouse instead of stressing over the house. Thank you for validating me when I've spent so much time caring for others that I lack the energy to take complete care of myself.

Your videos are very soothing to me. I think I must have adhd too- I am always too overwhelmed by “cleaning” because I don’t know where to begin. It’s not that bad really but my grandma prided herself on “able to eat off the floors” and that is not the case here! She also had what she called a nervous breakdown and was hospitalized for a short time then became addicted to tranquilizer- common in the 70s. I work full time but work from home and still feel I should be doing a better job of keeping the house- the guilt we put on ourselves is something I’m trying to avoid. You are very inspiring and that chili looks good! Thank you

I live in an old farmhouse. We don't have money to fix it up and make it look like most I see. It's home. We have our children's pictures and family heirloom nick nacks. It's cozy and beautiful to us. We are having trouble making ends meet. I can't relate to most TH-camrs because if I keep watching this perfect act I'll be depressed and feel like a failure. I love my home. I'm grateful for it. It's ours. I grew up with a father that has issues of being perfect and trickled down on me. Why couldn't I keep up? I have health problems and young children too. My kitchen is like your kitchen. My living room is like your living room. I don't feel so alone when I know this space I call home is normal. I never realized this, but as someone who is not a perfectionist...there still is this pressure to have this picture perfect home if you're a stay at home mom or homemaker. I take care of kids, cook meals, clean the house, every single day, and every day our home doesn't even look close to perfect. In a way it doesn't bother me because I don't have the energy to strive for perfection, but in other way I feel like I'm not living up to my title as homemaker. Why is there this pressure on us to make things be and look a certain way? When you really sit and think about it, how silly it is. Well loved kids should be what you strive for, not a picture perfect home.

Watching this with my two month old sleeping in my arms, eyeing the pile of clothes to iron with less guilt. It's about the memories, like you said, and she will be much more positively affected by the physical remembrance of the warmth of my body against hers, the rythimic thumping of my heart calming her agitated mind, than by me being on top of the laundry. My baby is more needy, and what she wants is her mama. How could I deny her that just so I can have a clean floor? And honestly screw those mommy influencers who create a falsehood that makes us feel inadequate. We should be helping each other, not competing against one another.

This is the fourth or fifth (I've lost track) video of yours that I have watched. It is by far my favorite. From the first sentence I was hooked by the poetic style you used in describing your days and feelings about your calling as a wife and mother. Watching you baking cookies with your daughter brought back very fond memories of my own, spending time in my mother's kitchen. Being the oldest in the family where there was always a baby, many household chores fell to me. I learned so much about how to clean, cook and keep a house. I love your videos. You're beautiful. You have a beautiful family and house.

I love everything about your channel. It was myself many years ago now im a great gram to my Maverick who is about to be 6 months old. I never get tired of each new generation created in love. All because of two people in love.
Not knowing after my pregnancy's I had postpartum depression. Not yet knowing what this was in my young life. My daughter struggled with this also. I like that you talk about the struggles that are real to new moms. Fathers watching the women they love change in the real struggling time that is to have been the most happiest for a new mother. That is anything but happy, joyous time.
That is where love is also.
There are little fingerprints that exist, and if they linger there for a while, Casa rasara. I believe music children love and a messy home is most definitely where the most memories dwell.
Watching you in the kitchen with your child on chair helping brought a flood of loving memories of my children. My son was 33 when he died. I am blessed to be reminded of these times and my life as much as yours without the pretty hair and makeup and clothes of the era of boiling plum pudding 😅.
Your channel has evolved into a magical place where real-life family-friendly memories and love dwell. I hope you never stop creating. Your narration in this video, as in many, but this one especially touches my heart.💙💛💜 Thank you, and I am happiest to be here.

You are the sweetest; I love your videos! I/we live a “normal “ life. We live in our house. Our kids are raised, but we have always had real life going on here. Chips on paint, messy kitchen, smudges on glass, crumbs on counters, etc etc… I can’t be the woman, wife, mother, homemaker that I see in so many videos. I have tried. I appreciate your message of embracing real life and all that goes with it. I have judged my self so poorly in the past because I couldn’t measure up. Your wonderful words reinforce the fact that I’m ok with who I am right now in this season of life. A lived in home means a full life of memories and blessings. Happy Thanksgiving! Thankful for you and your family and your videos! 💕

HUGS! You have a well loved kitchen! I love your kitchen! It reminds me of my Aunt Betty’s kitchen! She had eight children & everyone used to be at her house for the holidays! Nothing matched, except for the cookie jar set up on top of the cabinets. Her pantry was overflowing (I do mean overflowing), with all all kinds of seasonings, dry foods, & baking/roasting pans.
I loved those two rooms! They were well loved! Everyone gathered there!❤

I love, love, love that video! It's not just a love letter to messes, but even more to your family. And that's what's making this video just the perfect one, even with all the imperfections. There's love and you see and feel it and love is the most perfect decision you can make in your life and you can't replace that with money. You're wonderful and your children seem to be very happy and well loved. That's the most perfect video you could put out. Thank you!

This is beautiful. Thank you so much for making a space in this crazy world to appreciate the effort and value of the Moms. My kids grew up in the 90's, when being a stay-at-home mom was just weird. People actually asked me what I could possibly do at home all day! They thought I must get pretty bored.😂 Times have changed but we're still undervalued. I love your channel and your philosophy. Keep up the good work, there are so many people who will benefit from your care.

PS - I have this book too! My Grandma got it for me and I always wanted to make the chocolate chip cookie recipe but never did. I'm making that with my son this weekend! Thanks for the motivation 😊

I have chronic pain and suffer from anxiety and depression. My house is constantly a mess. I don’t have kids but I do have cats. They themselves are mess makers 😂 Not to mention the litter 🤦🏻‍♀️ So it’s nice to see someone who shows how real life is. Not gleaming shiny kitchens and perfectly clean houses. When I see those I know that’s not reality but I know a lot of people feel bad for not being their reality. So I really appreciate you showing that life is chaos, dirty floors, counters, cleaning constantly and not perfect. Thank you 😊

I just found your channel. I totally agree with you, I have had to stop watching some channels because of the way I felt after watching. My house WILL NEVER look like some of theirs and I'm okay with that. My house is tidy and that is enough. I have also stopped watching some because of the food shaming (as I call it). I can not afford all organic foods and Redmond's real salt, and there were some channels that just made me feel "less than" because I didn't use the "best" foods. I am okay and proud of myself because my family gets fed daily and are blessed to never go to bed hungry. If this means I'm not feeding my family the best foods then I'm ok. I'm so sorry to rant but I think some channels really need to step back and pay attention. Of course with that said I am responsible for my feelings not them. I loved your video and your message.❤❤

I just have my own way of cleaning and decorating. It won't look just like anyone else's in how I do it or what I enjoy doing someone else hates doing that part or never thinks of it. For example I love to redecorating with the tiniest of details in my kitchen like change cabinet knobs, food displays aka fruits and veggie every so often as fun for me, but another person may find that pointless or a chore rather than a joy. Some people never do that and use the same over and over fruit basket and there's nothing wrong or to compare in our styles of cleaning and decorating aka homemaking in any form because it all just stems from the unique person themselves in how they do life and homemaking is one faucet of that life we do.

I love this video! Homemaking is always process and the great thing about it, is that we get to choose the feel of our home, not just in the decor but in energy of it, whither we have kids or just a husband. We create the environment for them to come home to and live in. I’m a very proud stay at home wife.

Thank you Kristina for sharing this video, such a lovely, peaceful introduction. I definitely needed to watch this one! Although both of my children are grown, and we are trying to farm with full time jobs, often we can still struggle with keeping house, and even worrying about finances though most people don't like to discuss them as they seem to be a dirty little secret that gets shoved under the rug. But it's reality for most of us. I struggle daily with anxiety, sometimes depression and I wonder if I also have ADHD, recovering from a major surgery at this time isn't helping at the moment, so I can definitely relate so much to your video. You can sure feel overwhelmed and inadequate! It's nice to hear your perspective, it reminds us to be kind to ourselves that love and nurturing relationships with loved ones should be what matters. You put so much thought into this video, it was filled with love, gentleness and kindness. Such a pleasure to watch! ❤

What a beautiful tribute to motherhood and keeping a home. I love how you reinforce that your home is perfect for you and your family and is not a curated masterpiece. Your home is perfect for you and your family. That’s the mindset I have for my home. It’s not perfect but it’s perfect for us.

Your home looks very cosy. I love your kitchen, with the cute strawberry touches! ❤

I love these videos. I am a woman of the 80’s- homemaking was not a desired ambition. These videos remind me how important housekeeping and child rearing is to our society as a whole. Also, I am not not “good” at housekeeping BUT I always make sure the dishes are done before I go to bed at night. As long as I wake up to a clean sink, I am ok.

Dear Kristina, this video is so very touching and inspiring. Your children will look back on their childhood knowing they were loved and given the opportunities to bake and play, with a mother devoted to their happiness. There are two perfect things I can see in this video: your sincerity and the loaf of bread you baked (it looks delicious and is so neat a shape). I am solo and let me say that even with just me in one small flat I have constant house work to do also!

❤ I just love watching your videos. I feel so relieved to see somebody else talking about the way homes are actually lived in. I would much rather have a few dirty dishes and scuff marks here and there that show that somebody’s actually living here and using things than have a picture perfect sterile environment. The whole aesthetic of your home is just beautiful. Thank you for the content you make.

Thank you, Krista. This video is so life affirming. I am a homemaker but not a mom. Still I struggle with some mental health stuff and have three beloved cats and a husband to care for. Something I tell myself and my partner is that we do things like chores or going to work to make our lives better. So every time I do the dishes or laundry imperfectly I know that I am still making things easier for my future self. It seems like everything you do for your family is the same.

I loved this video so much, as soon as it was over, I watched it again! I have never done that before and I'm a TH-cam junkie. Your videos speak to me. I was you when my children were younger. Three of my children are adults and have since moved out and started lives and families of their own. My last and fourth child is eleven and I also babysit my grandchildren. I invite all the mess that they bring. I invite all the laughter and dirty clothes and diapers and toys everywhere. For when it is all gone, this time will never come again.
