Perfect timing on this video as I played a flush draw poorly today on a paired board and got stacked by a full house. I appreciate the lesson it taught me though and this video was helpful on showing me how to play that spot better. You asked for what suggestions do we have for your next video. I know I am personally getting torched in the small blind. I’m doing a better job defending my BB actually. Some tips on how to play the SB would be helpful. It’s such a tough spot since you are always first to act. I seem to just fold preflop a lot unless I have a premium hand or pocket pair just to avoid the awkward situation, but that is losing me money. Thanks as always for the content.
This is the best way to teach poker at least for me, I miss these spots and now I think after watching this video I'll play my flush draws really well, so thanks bencb
Hi Bencb! Thanks for this interesting content. Just, at the 23:54 of the video, you counted 9 outs for the FD and 4 outs for the GS. One card of the GS should be discounted, then there are 12 outs instead 13. I know you know it, just to correct it. GL and thanks again for your videos.
Great content! Can't get enough of it! And the format is not only informative but also very easy to follow. I'd love to see some more of this kind of vids. Thx Ben and thx to RYE! 🙏
Great video Ben, excellent free content to the community as always. I would like to add some notes: - When we as the preflop caller have a nut advantage our raise frequency goes up quite a bit with FD's, even with the some weaker naked FD's - When we don't have a nut advantage we like to raise mostly FD's with additional backdoor or direct straight equity - In looser positions Ahi flushdraws are called a lot more often than raised because of SD value Some frequency simplifications you can use to figure out how often to raise with a specific combo relative to the board. The +X% is how much raise frequency you add to your FD combo: For 100bb poker vs flop 1/3 bet (raise frequency goes down A LOT when villain bets 1/2 or bigger): +100% Combodraw +15% Naked flushdraw no overs, no backdoors Additional properties that add to your raise frequency +20% Good backdoor straight draw +5% /Overcard -20% Good Ahi (AT+) So in your example with Q7dd on 853ddx, 100bb deep BTNvBB: +15% (Naked FD) +20% (Backdoor SD) +5% (1 Overcard) =40% raise frequency Another example with AJdd on 853ddx, 100bb deep BTNvBB: +15% (Naked FD) +10% (2 Overcards) -20% (Good Ahi AT+) =5% raise frequency Obviously more things affect frequencies like relative position, nut & equity advantage and bet sizing. But these types of simplifications get you pretty close to GTO frequencies.
Hey man, thanks for everything you're doing for the community, your content is awesome, we all can see you really want to help people and there's not many people like that, big hug!
I personally find being sticky with flush draws difficult. Having you clarify where you want to proceed with a 3-bet and where to fold helped clarify a lot of things for me. I think it's most useful for me to remove the emotion from the situation and play the odds. Making these minor adjustments has helped me go from being break-even to winning more consistently and I'm hoping that as time goes on and I'm able to memorize these ranges I'll make even more profit. Thank you for the knowledge!
Awesome content! thank you! To answer the question of what I'd love to see next. Everything preflop, late in a tournament with like.. 20-40 bigs. What am I doing preflop. Mostly struggling with playing Bu/cu/hj vs an open from an earlier position. :D You have probably covered it already, but that's where I'm at right now at my game. I'm messing up alot :D Thank you for putting out content on TH-cam Bencb! Appreciate it!
Thank you, Ben, great video as always! Appreciate if u might cover few of following topics in the future: BB defense vs ranges and stack size; river tough spots and multi-ways; mindset MTT vs cash. Cheers!
I would love to see this kind of video for playing against a potential flushdraw from my opponent when i dont have it... when a face a big bet on the river on a flushy board i always see him have it and i fold
Really useful and enjoyable video, great explanation skills, learnt a lot, thanks! I like this structure of going through a situation that comes up frequently, with tips added.
Great content! Now as you said you want some ideas I will really like to see something about facing 3 bets especially when deep in tournament, close to final table 27-45 players.
Ty, Ben. Very nice content. I'd like to suggest for the next videos (if it doesnt exist yet on your previous works) how to profitably defend the big blind; wether to raise or just call versus each (if possible) range but mainly agaisnt the Button and EP. I think its not that easy to approach each scenarium nowadays where, just like you said, the players c-bet a lot more and put much more pressure over us. I apologize for my poor english! I hope you understand lol
Ben? I'd love to see a video when dealing with MP squeezes. I hate being multiway at low stakes facing an EP raise with suited Broadway cards when there are many players left to act knowing a few will call
Great video Ben! Thank you so much. My suggestion would be how to play IP vs players that cbet too often OOP and don't go for wide checkraise. Thanks again
The best poker content! Very much appreciated Ben! You are doing something very nice for the poker community and all the ppl who want to improve and be better at this beautiful game of cards! Thank you very much! Keep it up with the great work you are doing! And #LETSCRUSH #RYE
Hey Ben ! Please can you make one day a Video about SB and BB situations , protect it , Stealing from SB , Stealing from BB , and especially about Blind vs Blind situation . I feel like many people suffering in that theme . I see even Top regulars saying they could be still suck in HU and Blinds play after years of playing . Thank you :)
What is your advice if you have a straightflush draw? I mean technically it still is a straight and a flush draw. Would you check raise like you would if you have like a „Ax“ flush draw. Or would you check call. For exaple you have 98 suited And the flop is 10❤7❤K♠️
I think I would want to hear on how to deal with tilted opponents? You usually think "I must catch this guy right away!" and you're forgetting about everything else and not think about your game or other opponents and lose. This was happening to me long time ago, but fortunately I learned by experience not to be bothered much than just normal and only try to exploit normally very marginal spots. However sometimes I'm still falling into the trap. Do you have any advice in this matter?
Hey Ben, thank you for doing these videos, even though i am a TMC subscriber with RYE, i find this very helpful. Can you please cover blind v blind spots in a similar video. That will be really helpful. Thanks.
how to: blind vs blind , pleaaase Ben! I think so many struggle with it specially in the SB cos there are so many strategys, raise or limp everything from the SB, with different stack sizes in tournaments!
Love the format! Thx. How can a player practise opening ranges during game, if room like PS no longer allows EquiLab and such? Is there a good program or is it spreadsheets?
@@RaiseYourEdge I could not find any page where I could create my ranges? The wheigted visualizer seemed nice though. Maybe its behind the paywall, but I can not afford that.
Thx for the great content. However can u specify things for tourny vs cash or 6max vs 9max when u mention. Because i only play cash game 6max most of the time and when u explain a 50bb situation there is a huge difference between them

@@RaiseYourEdge @Voted Straw It is also a call 100% of the time. The reason the box isn't full, is because of a percentage of 88 is played differently at an earlier stage of actions, whereas we arrive at this spot with all our 55's

Great video Ben, excellent free content to the community as always. I would like to add some notes:

- When we don't have a nut advantage we like to raise mostly FD's with additional backdoor or direct straight equity
- In looser positions Ahi flushdraws are called a lot more often than raised because of SD value
Some frequency simplifications you can use to figure out how often to raise with a specific combo relative to the board. The +X% is how much raise frequency you add to your FD combo:
For 100bb poker vs flop 1/3 bet (raise frequency goes down A LOT when villain bets 1/2 or bigger):
+100% Combodraw
+15% Naked flushdraw no overs, no backdoors
Additional properties that add to your raise frequency
+20% Good backdoor straight draw
+5% /Overcard
-20% Good Ahi (AT+)
So in your example with Q7dd on 853ddx, 100bb deep BTNvBB:
+15% (Naked FD)
+20% (Backdoor SD)
+5% (1 Overcard)
=40% raise frequency
Another example with AJdd on 853ddx, 100bb deep BTNvBB:
+15% (Naked FD)
+10% (2 Overcards)
-20% (Good Ahi AT+)
=5% raise frequency
Obviously more things affect frequencies like relative position, nut & equity advantage and bet sizing. But these types of simplifications get you pretty close to GTO frequencies.
