Mario Party 8 and Skyward Sword at the very least and are some of my favorite on the system. Maybe mention some more of the Wii games like Wii Play and Wii Party. The Wii was the system that got me hooked into gaming as a whole. I'm also excited for the eventual Wii U episode. Also, if Nintendo would have remade Epic Yarn on the Switch instead of the 3DS, I would have bought that day one.

The Wii made a great light gun style system. Games such as House of the Dead Overkill, Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles, Gunblade NY, L.A. Machine Guns, Ghost Squad, Dead Space Extraction, House of the Dead 2 & 3, Resident Evil Darkside Chronicles, Link's Crossbow Trainer. Are all excellent gun games.

Totally agree here. I've got a traditional CRT for my real light guns on other older consoles, but the Wii is still an excellent choice for your rail shooting fix. Gunblade NY/LA Machine guns alone is worth it for the Wii on top of the others mentioned, especially House of the Dead and Ghost Squad.

I've mainly stuck towards FPS games through my life, and some of my favorite memories are playing Conduit 2 for countless hours with my friends online. Everyone I know thinks I'm crazy, but I still vastly prefer Wii motion aiming over twin sticks.

Between the Wii with it's motion controls, the Xbox red ring of death, and PS3 costing a fortune I honestly believed at the time that we were seeing the end of console gaming and PC gaming was all that would be left. Obviously I was wrong but it seemed touch and go at the time. Even the Wii's popularity seemed like a fluke, just a trend, and it would come crashing down after. Looking at what happened with the Wii U I wasn't entirely wrong.
But for a long time I despised the Wii. Except for Mario, Zelda and Metroid the only other games I saw people playing were Wii Sports and Dance Dance Revolution. I didn't know other games even existed. Wouldn't know it from everyone I knew who had one.
As time has gone on I've come to appreciate it. Once I started learning of games, some of which you mentioned, such as Sin and Punishment, Xenoblade Chronicles (my favorite game on the system and a very close second to the longest game I've ever played. That honor goes to Breath of the Wild but only by like 5-10 hours), No More Heroes, Rayman Origins, Madworld, and House of the Dead: Overkill changed my opinion on the Wii.

The irony is despite these problems on that generation of consoles, they were more popular than ever, especially the X360. Nintendo Gamecube was a huge flop for the company at the time despite it's very vocal fanbase, even the N64 wasn't big outside of North America, the company was in serious trouble without the Wii's success and could have gone the way of Sega quitting the console business completely with another failure. The success of the DS really highlighted that the vocal gamer audience that hated "touch control gimmicks" and touted it's doom were very much a minority with it's massive success, so went more experimental with the Wii instead of competing with the other big 2.

I remember being 1 of 6 people able to get a Wii at my local Meijer on launch day. We had a great 24 hours or so waiting “in line” in side the back of the store where the games were at the time. Everyone was discussing different purchases & their thoughts on the overall system. Definitely an experience that the future generations will miss out on. Crazy to think that was over 15 years ago now.

Similarly, Contra 4 and Rebirth are nowhere to be seen. I have the Castlevania games for DS already, but not everyone picked them up the first time around. Smash Bros Brawl was a mainstay
Had the Sims 3 on it.

I loved the Wii. It was and still is a great game console. It was also a great way for me to access my Gamecube games in 480P which was a great bonus. Never thought I would appreciate this generation of games as much as I do now in the modern area. To have games that were just designed to be fun and would play right from the disc with no downloading, unless it was digital only, and to have the games ship complete with no "updates" needed to play correctly and no micro transactions is a beautiful thing. Another great thing about the Wii was that it brought back light gun games to modern TVs. Other games that I think deserve to be mentioned are The Last Story, Zack & Wiki, Excite Truck as well as World of Goo, Rage of the Gladiator and both Lost Winds games on WiiWare. BTW thanks for the tip on playing the Rebirth games in 4:3.

@@tonk82 VR is a completely different kind of gaming experience that requires a completely different kind of controller. Nintendrones weren't saying "Motion controls will rule all... because we'll all be playing VR!" and even if they did, they'd still only be half right because VR isn't mainstream. That aside, no one is seriously using VR controllers to play Elden Ring on a normal display, waggling their hands around spastically to cast a spell.

18:59-19:08 I think you might be playing it wrong. The controls actually respond very well. It's just that most people expected it to play like Wii Sports Boxing but more responsive, when that's not the case at all. The Wiimote and Nunchuck controls for punching are more like playing a drum with drumsticks rather than swinging around and pretending you're boxing.

The Wii is 90% shovelware with gimmicky motion controls, but the remaining 10% makes this console very much worthwhile and not all motion controls were bad. I personally found no issue with DKC Returns' motion controls. Sure they weren't necessary and probably could've been compensated for with Classic Controller support but I still managed to 100% percent that game and enjoyed every bit of it. The Wii is also an excellent rail shooters machine, giving us titles like House of the Dead, Gunblade NY/LA Machine Guns, Ghost Squad, Dead Space Extraction and many others. If you're one of the rare people out there like I am who likes old school Yu-Gi-Oh stuff then the Wii also has Wheelie Breakers and Duel Transer. If I had to name my favorite Wii title other than Super Smash Bros Brawl it would probably be one the two Kirby games. Not sure if its Epic Yarn or Return to Dream Land since they're pretty different from one another, but either are great to play. Kirby's Dream Collection is also cool but I don't count that as a Wii title since it's a compilation of older Kirby games from past consoles.
