Other light weight solid plastic container options might include:
    (1) readily available "Five Hour Energy" bottles that hold 2 fluid ounces; and
    (2) HEET (yellow bottle), a fuel line anti-freeze for automobiles (these hold ca. 8 fluid ounces or so). Since the HEET can be used as a fuel, you simply buy a bottle and store it "as in" in your backpack.

Use a collapsible Flask. Its made for alcohol. Mine haven't leaked yet. And there not too expensive. And if u get an 8 oz. And just fill it half way it's nice and flat. Now 1 problem is it doesn't store in an ultralight stove/pot set up like a small bottle but they do work.

Besides the ones you showed........... 8 oz Carnation Breakfast Essentials bottle , 10 oz Libby's Pineapple Juice bottle. 12 oz Gatorade bottle. 16.9 oz A & W Root Beer bottle. If you needed more then go with a 32 oz Gatorade bottle.
I take the labels off the 1st three ones and the caps seal good and tight. The Gatorade bottles are really sturdy bottles.
I also use either the 8oz Carnation or a 12oz Gatorade bottles for a high spirited adult alcoholic beverage , amber in color , so I don't confuse it with the stoves alcohol bottle.

Ever have one of those "I should have thought of that." moments?

Do you know offhand if there's any aluminum inside the Trangia Fuel bottle or the spring mechanism inside the valve?
I ask because I'd like to put bioethanol inside the Trangia fuel bottle, but bioethanol dissolves aluminum. Or so I heard?

It would be wise to store fuel in a container that is unlikely to be accidentally confused with a food container. The plastic test tubes are nice.

If a hiker can't remember which bottle in their backpack has the fuel in it they really shouldn't be allowed out without their carer!

the best bottles are not round ones, but rectangular ones, since they take less space but there are less of them available

If you have fuel bottle that could be confused with something else (platypus flat container) better label it with a magic marker.

Right, except alcohol is a solvent for "indelible" ink.

Pound for pound, gas canister stoves are superior. Canister stoves are lighter per minute of cooking time, easier to use, and offer better flame control. On top of which, alcohol is not more environmentally friendly than gas, since most fuel-grade alcohol is produced synthetically from gas, in the first place. I did the math a long time ago, and ditched alcohol stoves. The only real advantage of an alcohol stove is that you can't fly with gas canisters.

Gas canister stoves suck in winter if you live in a northern state. Alcohol stoves work better in winter if you have the correct design.

Plastic bottles are flammable and are not my preferred vessel for carrying alcohol (de-natured) when backpacking. A metal bottle is better or a trangia fuel bottle (not cheap). Another alternative is a Zippo lighter fuel can which is ideal for a small amount eg. for priming pressure stoves.

Plastic is flammable? It'll melt near a campfire but that's not the same as flammable. People have hiked with plastic bottles of alcohol for years and never had a problem... a metal bottle is just excess weight.

Are you storing your alcohol in a campfire or something? Keep it far fron the lit stove and you won't have any issue

if you buy alcohol it comes in plastic most of the time
