    This is the most helpful video I’ve seen yet! I take my practical tomorrow, so thankful I found this first!

    I liked the video a lot but I'm starting to get confused with how many different ways the patient assessment is taught compared to what the NREMT is expecting. So it is okay to start taking vitals right after the ABC's? My patient assement sheet shows vitals are taken after history taking (which has always seemed like a pretty long time to wait to take vitals).

      You should definitely follow whatever structure your EMT program has as far as the order of operations during assessment. That being said, generally it is acceptable to have vitals taken earlier than indicated on the sheet if you have the ability to have a partner obtain those while you focus on the assessment. The purpose of the primary assessment is to find life threats so that they can be managed, and taking vital signs early can distract students from finding life threats early. I don't see any reason there should be an issue with obtaining vital signs immediately after assessing for the ABC's.

    Working at my local casino we will be by ourselves not always in pairs. Which is challenging at times...especially if you are new like me.

    The printed version of your Medical Assessment Sheet seems to omit specifics of the obtained vital signs and does not assign the traditional 3 points generally allocated for BP, P and Resp. Otherwise it appears to have some advantages over past iterations.

    1 thing I have learnt in 40 years you can go to 1000 ACS calls and each will be different to the last.

      Definitely! Just when you start to think you know what something presents like, a new patient comes along and shows you how wrong you are.

    Did I miss it or was OPQRST (history of present illness)not reviewed?

    • @IdahoMedicalAcademy
      @IdahoMedicalAcademy  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, not in this video. We place OPQRST during the secondary assessment and this video does not go into depth about specifics during the secondary assessment.
