    The first call I went on during my ride along was an 80 some year old man with CHF and his stomach was so swollen from the fluid build up. He was on oxygen and just a day or two before was awoken in the middle of the night because of it. He definitely should have gone with the crew that visited the night before. It got a little better after some albuterol and solumedrol treatment.

    5:55 - don’t forget “Another One Bites the Dust” (which is my favorite to teach because of the strong beat and inability to really rush it, but not the most optimistic choice 🤣). For the country music fans - “Achy Breaky Heart” is great too.

      That can definitely be one con to pinching the wings together as you poke. It is possible to adjust to see flash with this hold with practice. We teach multiple methods in our course. This instructor prefers to hold the wings because she feels it gives her more control of the needle. There are alternative ways to hold the butterfly set that will allow you to see flash better! We absolutely support using whatever method makes you feel most the comfortable in your venipuncture!

    • @IdahoMedicalAcademy
      @IdahoMedicalAcademy 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes! Thank you for your comment! It is true that the order of draw for the different green tubes should be Light green(PST), Dark Green (Lithium Hep), then Dark Green (Sodium Hep). The Order of draw sheet being used in the video had the dark green tube listed first and it was overlooked. Lavender and Pink have the same additive (EDTA) They can be drawn in either order. It was listed in the Phlebotomy Essentials book as Lavender then pink, that is why it is that way in the video. The main reason for the color difference is used to differentiate samples being sent to hematology vs blood bank. Sorry for the confusion here!

    • @IdahoMedicalAcademy
      @IdahoMedicalAcademy 20 วันที่ผ่านมา
