I live in AZ and have researched a majority of flatbed companies from east coast to West. I am deciding between System Transport and Melton for OTR. Once I get the required 1 yr OTR I will be applying with Central Oregon.
3 companies affiliated with the school I went to were Werner, Melton & covenant. I refused to go otr out of school so I got me a local class b job that has all types of vehicles but I’ve only been driving roll off/vac tank. I want to get my A experience in flat bed then eventually hazmat/tanker so I’m looking at melton and a few other companies. Home time is important and pay as well. Hopefully they accept me and I can further my experience with them. I have all my endorsements, with twic & manual transmission
Soo I’m currently active duty, I’ve had my CDL for 2 years. I got it a few months before I left, when I come home in 2026 would I have to go back through CDL school since I haven’t driven. I haven’t forgotten the basic fundamentals. I’m leaning strongly towards Melton or Maverick.
Right now the rates are bad so if it was me I would play it safe and get paid by the miles because if it’s percentage base and the rates bad what your check gonna look like?….
What do you rate maverick compared to melton? I’m in the process of starting CDL school now. Tmc and Maverick was my only choices I was thinking. But the more research I do I’m kind of leaning away from Tmc.. I know every one experience is different but I can just kinda eat between the lines with the whole Tmc thing.
I’m in cdl school now I’m trynna move to Texas to start a new chapter in life is there anyway after I complete Melton I can get a transfer from Tulsa to Texas working for melton
Hey bro so yeah u gotta go to CDL school. Melton has a school program like most big carriers u just gotta sign a 6-12 month contract to work for them before u dip 💪🏾💯
This was extremely helpful thank you bro!
GoNoles!! I’m in CDL school now leaning strongly towards Maverick but I like to keep my options open and weigh all the pros and cons.
Keep going 💪🏾
