    Best time to do this at 4am during the summer. It will be light, there will be few people around and more importantly no cars to mow you down while you have your picture taken.

    Thank you so much for this! I worked just around the corner from here in Hall Road 1969 at Lords telephone exchange. Often walked acroos the crossing and never gave it a thought until I saw the album cover. I love The Beatles.

    A memorable video for me to come across ,as it`s the first time I have viewed these streets in 74 years ,having used them almost every day during that time in my childhood until about 1951.
    The starting point outside Maida Vale station. When we still live nearby I would walk daily to my grammar school following this same route up and down the hill, then when we moved to live in Hertfordshire I would commute to school ,using Maida Vale station.
    St. Mark`s Church was damaged during the War and the top part of the spire blow off . I was christened here .
    Later ,I joined the Girl`s Life Brigade at the Baptist Church , in Abbey Road. After we left the area I heard that there was an awful accident in the dwelling to the left of the Church ,when the chimney collapsed through the roof ,with fatalities.
    We lived in a basement flat with a small garden in Alma Square ,which backed on the the huge studio building at the rear of Abbey Road Studios. From a very early age ( a toddler) I would play in the garden hearing classical music ,as rehearsed in the studio while the windows were open .I now realise that I must have been hearing all the best orchestras ,musicians and conductors of the time, which gave me a lifelong love of listening to music of all kinds . I am only sorry that we left before the eras of other great music ,rehearsed and recorded there.
    The concluding part of the video shows my walk up Grove End Road and past St. John`s Wood station ,which was my earlier route to the primary school in St. John`s Wood .The statue at the junction of Abbey Road and Grove End Road was once the proud boast of my sister ,then aged about 10 .She always maintained that having chewed a bus ticket to sodden mess ,she managed to spit this exactly into one of the eyes of the statue !

      Well it’s not just any crossing. They’re emulating the Beatles’ album. A typical touristy thing to do. Granted, I would wait until traffic eased before hopping on. As a lot of the people were doing.

    A beautiful walk on a beautiful day. It is exactly a year back and very similar to glorious sunny days we are getting in this dreadful lockdown. Today we hear the social distance will continue for whole of this year. This bitter pill is getting too hard to swallow. Anyway, I digressed.
    I enjoyed every bit of this walk, quite amused by the tourist activities in the famous crossing. London looked so crisp and cheerful in the sunshine. Thanks for caption at junctions and structures. A great help for me.
    Take care. Looking forward to more out of your magic carpet bag.

    Sensacional! Abraços fraternos do José aqui do Brasil.

    Fantastic video, as always! I await your videos with great fondness, and watch them whilst exercising at home.
    Question: Do you use any ND filter on the Hero8? If so, what number? In a sunny day setting like this, is it advisable to use a ND filter? I just bought a Hero8, and am trying to figure out the basics on using it outdoors in similar settings as you do. I am not too familiar with the need and use of ND filters, still learning.
    Could you also please share your Shutter Speed, EV setting, Colour setting and whether PT is on or off, for this video as an example? Will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    • @WatchedWalker
      @WatchedWalker  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! In terms of ND filters, I didn't use one in this video, but I have for others. They can help to stop light objects being burnt out, but at the same time everything is darkened and can look dull. It can take a lot of editing to make the image look "normal" again, and especially hard when it's a video as you may move to different areas of brightness. I'd be more inclined to just lower the exposure (ev comp) and not worry about an ND filter unless it's absolutely necessary.

    • @dubiousfella
      @dubiousfella 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WatchedWalker Thanks a lot for your quick and detailed reply, alacrity appreciated. I too have never really understood the need for ND filters, but it seems common use judging from the number of YT videos talking about it. Your advice is better than their reasoning, and I'm likely to follow it. So in the end, do you color-correct or exposure-correct your videos, like this one for example, before uploading? Or is it just as-is from the camera?
