Lihue Airport has two 6500 X 150 runways and United used to fly their DC-10's there before being replaced by the 757-200's and United will start flying their 767's to Lihue from Denver next month (June 2021), Hawaiian used to fly those 767's to Lihue as well until 2017 if I'm not mistaking.
Believe it or not, widebodied aircraft do very well on short runways. Our main runway is 7,000 also, and we have several wide bodies of all types come here each year.
Wonderful views of the Maui central valley. The winds in Kahului are always wicked, causing hard landings, but the strong NE trades help slow down the planes!
Sure, but the cabin was clearly never refurbished since delivery. 15 years is a very long time to wait for refurbishment for anything related transportation that's used daily.
Cool video. That breakfast looks like its missing an entrée. I already have low expectations for economy class meals but if you're going to advertise complimentary meals as a differentiator, it ought to have an entrée, not just the stuff that compliments it. I'd rather have the option to pay for an actual meal.
The 767s are extremely comfortable and i found the Hawaiian cabins were done beautifully and i did not find the seats worn. you better appreciate tour experience because it will soon be an a321 neo by the end of the year. Sad to see the 767 go. the a330s are nice, but the 767 is better !!!!
Michael Restivo: Please stop the bitching....HAL is the only US Carrier that provides complimentary meals to those in steerage. And HAL has some pretty good non-published Restricted Air-fares if you buy the tickets way in advance and agree to the rules. Like you better get to the airport early and be the 1st ones to check-in or they will give your seats to stand-by customer willing to pay anything. I have flown Hawaiian many times (round-trip) from PDX to Maui for around $200.00 . The service is pretty good...and if you're still hungry..and there are leftovers, they will give you another sandwich, etc. for free. Many times they go half-off or free on Liquor when there are delay or bumpy-flight issues. As far as the 767-300 ERs? Hawaiian was near bankruptcy years ago when they took delivery of them (being a bad credit risk) they paid/pay through the nose for them in Lease and Purchase Agreements through Boeing Finance and other lenders. Since deciding to purchase the Dreamliners,Boeing is allowing and set-up deals to where Hawaiian can get out of the Finance-Lease Agreements on the 767s in the HAL fleet (much to HALs relief). All HAL's 767s fleet are already spoken for; United and others will be taking them into their Fleet as soon as the Dreamliners begin to be delivered. And as far as Safety? They have never had a crash (HAL is one of the safest and oldest Carriers in the sky)...their flight crews are compensated very well. And NO!...I don't work for HAL.
I've flown Hawaiian Air quite a few times in the 20-something years I've been traveling to Hawaii.....I've never seen an HA flight attendant who had a smile on their face. The grouchiest airline staff with whom I've dealt. Many, many times. It's hard to think of an airline with a more cold-blooded ambiance.
Maui is beautiful...but is fast becoming way too commercialized. Most tourists are now looking more into destinations that are laid back. The only people that say the Big Island or Kauai is boring are locals but in all honesty those two island are the most beautiful.
K2Torazo true I lived in Hawaii for at least 10 years on Oahu before rent hit through the roof I left in 2009 to go back home to North Carolina my family were ill my father us army veteran he passed away 2012 now I am back in Arizona where i lived in 1970s miss Hawaii very very much my heart is still with it 😊always it’s beautiful and people are wonderful
I miss Hawaiian's 767s, the 767-300(ER) is and remains the smallest wide-body I've ever flown in!

I legit watched this entire video as well as some of your other ones lol. It was oddly relaxing.
Awesome video man liked
0:50 And fortunately, it got another refit after United purchased it.

no worries they are beginning to retire those aircrafts, and 2 out of the 18 A321neo's are already coming, so you won't have to complain anymore :)
Interesting base leg-they didn’t send you out over the water for the base leg-that seems to be normal procedure for OGG
My guy fully loaded 777's fly there also. its pretty impressive
seat belt sign is suppose to stay on all during flight in case of turbulence, and even SJC weather is better than the midwest in winter
I’m flying to Oahu in May and am disappointed to find out the 767’s don’t have TV’s in the back of the seats ; (
Read a book. Take a nap... It's a 5.5 hour flight, you'll survive.
Then find a different airline Spike. Hawaiian isn't the only one going there!!
Wonderful views of the Maui central valley. The winds in Kahului are always wicked, causing hard landings, but the strong NE trades help slow down the planes!
I went to Maui with a 767 UNITED IN SFO
Had to fly 10+ hours on a 767-200 with no TV at the back of seats when I was a kid. If that were now, I would have been extremely board.
"Board"?? Flunked 1st grage spelling eh?
@@bonniechristen7350 No but “Grage” it looks like you did though
This plane is only 15 years old, that’s still young for a plane....

copilot888 yeah that is very true, it looked dated. Good video though
Those containers have bags inside of them
This flights is making me want to go back to Hawaii lol but stuck in Arizona with my car loan I got last year in 2018 in April oh brother what I do 😔
Pay it off and save
Exelente Jato Belo Vídeo
The thought of it being 80 degrees in January makes me sick. 🤢
cool my family is sitting right in front of you and you can hear them talking all the time

yt807 well this is a domestic flight and Hawaiian is the only airline serve meal on a domestic flight.
Delta is now serving meals on their flight from its east coast and midwest hubs
“Today I’m flying Hawaiian to- uh- Hawaii.” 😆😆😆😆😂😂😂
Pov: you flew a 747 here
thought the big planes didn't land in maui
WRONG.
way too critical for someone going to Hawaii dude, should have relaxed and enjoyed the ride. Coming from an airline worker of 20 years!
We must band together, find those planeclappers and take them out
26:40 Boi Fully Loaded 777-200s Fly There
Can we say pessimists??

And the 767s can travel further as well I believe than an Airbus 330.
@@accountuser5588 the a330-300 can fly over 7200 miles, whole the 767-300er can fly almost 6000 miles, over 1000 mile difference in range

A "hard landing" because the runway is 7000 feet long? BWWWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
