aussie fan, absolutely delighted to see a local Repair shop, especially as a former repairer (medical out) in 2 industries.
regarding the parts for the train set, i think it'd be possible to replicate spare w the help of a 3d printer & some sourced brass, maybe graphite, & build out the needed parts by replicating the one still there. other options like casting plastics are also viable.
just for anyone else wanting to repair similar issues.
