I admire people who do things like this.

Such a good wholesome show, the team is caring you can’t help but laugh and cry with them. I hope someday that they will do something so people can send things from the U.S. and maybe zoom with Jay.
I sincerely hope this show continues to grow here and they produce more shows.

An amazing show, so very happy to see it in TH-cam, Netflix is not sharing new episodes.

I love watching old stuff being fixed. I'm just not sure what having a contrived sad story behind every item adds.

      Heritage and history.

The stories are not contrived. People are bringing in heirlooms and possessions that were treasured by family members to be repaired and able to be enjoyed by their generation and generations to come. The stories of how the items came to be in the family are important to cherish and to share.

When I saw this I wondered why they didn't replace the missing front bogie on the model. It was given back to the family only part restored.

I've also seen a music box returned to the owner with essential parts still missing! The 'Workshop of Dreams' isn't all that it seems..

All mechanical things need lubrication now and then....

  • @michaelpalmer4013

Hardly a Christmas Miracle and inaccurate to describe it as 'seized-up'! These mechanisms have a worm-gear attached to the motor, which drives a single gear on the wheel axle. Since it is not possible to 'drive' this type of worm gear, it is not possible to turn the locomotive's wheels by hand -that is why they wouldn't turn. I am sure that an interesting episode could have been created by describing an honest clean and lubrication (which I'm not sure you did), without the need to present false facts.

Also, the controller wasn't faulty, well not how they described it. That controller has a series variable resister and so without a load it will always show full voltage from the slowest setting, needing the current drawn by the loco to drop the voltage. No understanding by this repairer of basic electrical theory.

Maybe you'd have a better 'like to watch' ratio if you showed each item as a single TH-cam episode - from start to the final reveal to the owner. This current TH-cam format of cliff-hanger projects, compared to what is a great program on TV (when I was able to watch it here in the States), is very disappointing. No thumbs-up from me for this format.
