The seal is always the buggar. I use a dog-toy ball (foam core, not a hollow tennis ball) slightly bigger than the suction tube and secure that to the end of the plunger with a wingnut on a bolt that goes through the whole thing and a few washers and whatever. If you do it just right you can still tighten the wingnut when it needs, but take care where you are putting the glue
Brilliant video! Never going to make one. Never going to go gold prospecting. Yet I can't seem to put your channel down! Keep up the amazing work and this one was super interesting. Thank you!
As kids we used to use racquetballz or tennis balls as the plunger and all thread as the pull rod we would have a nut and washer on each side of the tennis ball that way you could compress it down as tight as you wanted to control it instead of using gaff tape that worked out really well for us
Well done gadz it doesn’t matter how many takes or stumbling of words you did the important thing is you got it out here for us to use so we don’t have to break our piggy banks to enjoy our hobby. Thanks gadzee great second half to the vid. Gotta be honest I missed the 1st half because I was kinda fixated on that Double Dare. I will watch it later with my thumb over that bit.
I made one with bits from bunnings... mine is 4ft long and is good for getting on bedrock that you've dug down to. This is good but can be improved with just buying your parts more selectively.
Excellent pump, make sure the wing nut inside the tube never gets too loose, always check when on the river occasionally, do not over tighten. Best of luck.
Fantastic simple design and process. Only thing which is very disappointing to this bushie is that no fencing wire was used. Missed a simple point to get 10/10!! 😜

Can I suggest for both your great home built one and even for the expensive steel ones, use an old thong (flip flop) for the section that is inside the tube. I have the expensive type and have for years been using a section of a thong. Even better is you just use the steel pipe to cut out the right size circle :) Creates a perfect seal and is hard waring and free if you have a blow out on a thong :)
