  • In the real world, clients often don't present with "textbook" presentations of symptoms that neatly fall into a particular disorder. Many symptoms of mental disorders are "overlapping," meaning that the same symptom may be listed under several disorders.
With the limited time that clinicians often have, how do we quickly formulate an accurate diagnosis?
Find out by watching this recording of a 2-hour webinar on differential diagnosis! We'll use real case examples to show you how to use differential diagnosis resources for overlapping symptoms.
    Learning Objectives
    1. Define "overlapping" symptoms.
    2. Describe how to use the "differential diagnosis" section of the DSM-5.
    3. Use the DSM-5 Differential Diagnosis mobile application to formulate a diagnosis for case scenarios involving overlapping symptoms.

I've really enjoyed this training and appreciate you posting it. I would recommend anybody who has the opportunity to get a job doing psych assessment for a psychiatric hospital because they only give you 15 minutes to come up with a provisional diagnosis. You either get good at it, or you get fired. It's the front lines of severe mental health issues, and you'll deal with stuff that you just won't see in any sort of private practice setting.

This was a very informative presentation. I am currently going into my bachelor's program and will be purchasing two of the books that you talked about to better prepare for some of the school course work I may or may not have to complete. Thank you so much for the thorough breakdown of the subjects.

There’s a lot of sidebar/tangential information outside of the talking points that is distracting.
