The scaling on them is definitely better now with the most recent update to them
the Ranger kits are created by TheAussieMerc! as well as the Mk48, MK18, the green M4 Block II, and MK17. my milsim unit Task Force Mattock commissioned many of these mods.

Great to see my mods getting some major love. As someone mentioned down below, I have reshaped all of the content you were using, to be more realistic size, I went a bit nuts with the sizing, based them off the base clothing mesh, rather than the Reforger body.

They have a RU PMC enemy force coming from me next but US side no additional content.
Some readjustment on some helmets but the rest of the clothing no planned addons

The problem Arma has is the extremely clunky movement. CQB is so quirky and bulky which makes fast responses to enemies a coin toss
all I want is to be able to have urban firefights at more than 15 FPS
@@Come.HolySpirit That's an understatement, somehow they made movement, and CQB even worse in enfusion

@@stburr91 I am sure it is. I haven't personally played reforger myself, so my judgement is based off videos alone. It sucks that in Arma 3 you had to download mods to make the game semi-playable in the way that people actually want to play the game. (CQB battles)

I've been waiting on a video like this from drewski.
Reforger is still a bit of a mess but it and the new engine have massive potential. I've heard barely anything about the current modding scene for this game. Reforger is not ARMA 3 and isn't as fully featured as previous arma titles, but from what I've seen everyone still seems content with ARMA3 and haven't been seeing what they can still do with it.
I spent much, much more time in reforger just admiring the beautiful environments than worrying about fighting. The detailed environments are such a nice change of pace to ARMA 3. I'm excited for ARMA 4 whenever that comes out.
The environment in Reforger is really what’s doing it for me. I’ve 3,000+ hours on Arma 3, and I’ve barely been back since Reforger came out. It’s just such a beautifully immersive environment. And vehicles drive so much better, they’re actually fun to drive!
@@glennpeterson1357 I'm the same 1k+ hours in Arma 3, I don't really like Reforger but it's hard to play Arma 3 now
I have about 3 mod lists that all have some really great gear imports. A lot of plate carriers, bags, weapons, and more. I have not yet tried reforger yet, so I don’t really know a great comparison. Hopefully I’ll be able to get it soon and check it all out.
Im going to say Reforgers initial bugs, lack of content contributed to low player counts. Arma 3these days its definitely getting harder to find standard normal PvP servers depending on where you live and time of day. Reforger is really for the Arma addicts who want the cutting edge at all costs rather than the average player who wanted to have a good well rounded experience. The question of what would become of Reforger by time arma 4 releases was also a concern. For me i must build a new pc before getting into Refoger, despite being the exact kind of player Reforger is aimed at. Reforger is like Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zero compared to the full MGS V. its like the gran turismo prelude games that would release between full featured numbered titles.
@@Slayer119988 I mean, it being kind of a mess is definitely part of it, but I think people just forgot it exists. The lack of content doesn't really help either. Idk - why bother playing a janky mess that looks prettier when we can still play all of the excellent content in arma 3? I want to see reforger succeed, but I don't think it really will. I think it was at best an interesting insight into what Arma 4 might have in store for us, and at worst it's going to end up a forgotten game, like that one f2p spinoff they did that almost immediately died. I can't even remember the name of that one.

Wow! Before you mentioned it was supposed to be Kunar province I was thinking to myself “damn that looks familiar”. I spent my deployment there in 2009. They did a good job recreating that valley, impressive.

I was fortunate to be one of the few that started modding the original Operation Flashpoint that was the parent of the Arma series. We wrote a 2 inch think document after examining the campaign missions as there was no documentation for the original editor. Watching the machinima and modding community that grew out of that was very satisfying. Watching rhe game grow over the decades since has been amazing. Several modders from that original community were recruited to work for codemasters. Definitely still a very bright future for this series.

Cold War and Vietnam are my favourite eras. Operation Flashpoint was my best game of all time so cold wars holds a dear place in my heart 😂
@@yous2244 cold war stuff is a great setting but the dependent on apc is something that i dont really like. i just have bad experience with getting ambush and killed in a apc. 1 RPG HEAT = 8 soldiers dead

The issues with disconnections are very frequent, public milsim servers also take a lot of time to start and theres a lot of annoying people, and game crashes, but when it works, its really good.
Reforger definitely got the sound design right, very immersive especially when under fire👌
the flesh impacts are a bit silly, but everything else is perfect

My best friend whom I consider a brother uncle fought and died in the Korengal valley. The story of his death and his units battle is like from a movie, it's insane. He was a medic. RIP Mendoza.

It'd be cool to run these old maps through some sort of fractal-based micro-terrain generation. One of the greatest things about the series is that much of the old content travels through the game versions.
its so refreshing looking out in the distance and not seeing brown and red carpet with trees. Arma 3 on your screen you are covered in tall green grass, dense trees, and dark shadows but on the enemies screen you are prone out in the open on green carpet next to a tree
Natively rendered scope, with a PIP peripheral is my fave implementation
The interior lighting situation is making me nervous. I'm sure it'll be fixed up later, but still. The sound design was amazing though!
I love that they support modding and mouse and keys on console too. I so want DayZ in this engine!
It’s good that it’s for console too but when people are adding a lot of mods in a game I think the console can’t handle that

@@glennpeterson1357 should I buy Reforger. I recently got Arma 3 and have been playing a bunch recently. (mainly asking if there are a lot of populated servers with large amounts of players or is it like Arma 3 with a few semi populated servers)
@@BowtieIndustries Reforger is like 1% of the scope that Arma 3 is. But that 1% I really enjoy and it’s done so much better. For me Reforger is worth it for the “Conflict” game mode alone (which is a PVP capture the island scenario). If you’re into the whole modding / more modern thing, then you’ll probably find enough servers to keep you going, but it’s lots of mods. If “vanilla” is more your style there’s normally at least a couple of offical populated servers going (typically max 32 players but). It’s up to you. But as frustrating and buggy as it still is, I’m loving it. There is a bit of a learning curve, so be prepared for that. I think generally if you tell people you’re new to the game, they’re pretty helpful…

I feel like alot of the community forgot that this was just a tech demo for the future of Arma and the potential it could have on consoles. It definitely got treated way too much like it was supposed to be a big AAA game since we were loving the previous games so much, and for that reason, the game got review bombed (At least in my opinion) and it was eventually just swept under the rug as another failure. I honestly think the expectations for this tech demo were too high and we shouldn't have expected Reforger to be this "Big, Upgraded, top of the line sequel" instead of a test for the future of the Arma series and the potential release of Arma 4.
I just wish the game didn't feel so much like DayZ. The movement is too floaty and stop-start. Arma 3 movement, IMO, felt much better despite being rather clunky itself. It was a "tight" clunky.
@Sean Price I agree. It does have a bit of an unnatural feeling, but I got used to it quickly and it feels great IMO. Shouldn't change.
But I do understand the "clunky" viewpoint.

there is a hold breath key and there is a key called deploy weapon which will allow you to use the bipod mounted on the weapon.
One thing I always keep in mind while sniping is keeping my zeroing on 100 and using the lines for other zeros. First line down from your center scope dot is 200m second tiny line is 250m then the next big line would be 300 and it continues all the way down from there

What excites me more than anything else is that there's a way to port A3 assets into Reforger !!
I almost didn't want a way to port old assets in to the new engine, so that 10 years old or more low quality model can finally rest and we can have something new.
But after seeing how much better the models look in the new engine, I think it's fine.
Still sick of seeing the same assets over and over and over and over again tho.
Oh ya, I can’t wait to see Altis and CSAT in the new engine…
I kinda want to see stratis on this engine, just for curiosity. What the size of the map can make for an interesting multiplayer big scale battle.
@Comedian GJ true - after 10 years we need some new high quality and really large terrains. Be interested to see the ports, though, just for comparison.

If Bohemia can make the close quarters gunplay and movement something akin to Squad/Insurgency/RS2 they’ve got the next generation of realistic shooters and milsim on lock.

My only hope is that 1. AI are way way better and 2. We can get good performance when doing 100+ player servers. I’ve been having a blast playing in karma’s 24/7 war server, but sometimes it’s a slideshow especially when heavy combat starts. Hopefully arma 4 can improve on this.
For now there are 64 player servers with some useful performance. But Reforger doesn't have that many assets yet so this might change and it might get more demanding.
i think making a game like the way arma does and having it give anything close to 60 fps in 100 player servers is a dream
Yes, then add in destructible buildings and furniture, etc, too…

Lighting could be better. It's way too bright inside of buildings
The game is too bright and colorful in general. I think it should be darker, drabber, and grittier as it was like in ArmA 2.
Some of the cold war assets would work perfectly for early afghan conflicts
Bruh, my dad fought in afghan in the Korangal Valley, as the 27th Airborne Engineer Battalion
Also I hope the ghillie suit doesnt hide the massive backpacks. Arma 3 was littered with ghillie suits (including myself) always got a massive backpack cause it never stood out but hid inside the suit making you harder to see

1:24 the fact that you have to think if they are old assets, makes you really realize how insane the new engine is
Being a dayz and Arma 2 player I'm very excited to see what the moded community comes up with this new engine. Hope they made the programing language better for Arma 3. Being 42 and starting gaming on atari to now, how far the tech has come is just over the top. Look forward to what is next.

It really sucks that the devs have abandoned this game; I just hope that they are actually working on arma 4. Hard to have high hopes for it though, considering how they couldn't even bother to add the simplest of things to Reforger.
I am most likely sure that Refroger is a hidden beta test for ArmA 4.

The devs update the game every two weeks and post information and news on their website. The community is helping to shape what this game and Arma 4 will be.
BI have not abandoned reforger, they will abandon it after the next 2 roadmap updates and then put all resources towards Arma 4 afterwards (correct me if I am wrong)

@@samsquanch6561 its probably due to ported assets, vanilla buildings look darker indoors.
Looks at real videos on Afghanistan. It really is this bright because of the arid environment.
@@OperatorDrewski I was wondering the same thing while watching the video as well. My game doesn’t look like this. Like when you’re talking about all the lightning and stuff, in the video it actually looks pretty basic and bad.

so i played this map yesterday as im a member of 2rgb. First time actually playing the map and its incredible. We attacked the OP further south of the town and it was so cool.
Honestly something I love about arma 3 is the complexity- yes its hard to get into- and yes im not that good at it after a few hundred hours- but reforgers controls feel flat compared- it feels like an upgrade and yet a knockoff. idk man but im worried to see what happens to the series (and i do understand why the changes were made but...)

An fyi for ya Drew: Sebastian Junger did make a sequel to Restrepo called Korengal. Same FOB, some of the same soldiers, and its just as good as Restrepo. Itunes and Amazon have it to rent for just 99 cents.
Your comment at the end about old 3d models makes me realize, we might soon see mass AI-upscaling of old low-res 3d assets. Countless "obsolete" models brought into the modern era almost overnight to diversify gaming and add unique details.
Combined with Nanite's ability to render arbitrarily complex 3d models, gaming is about to get insane.

I believe I saw a graphical bug, at 1:53 - 1:56 when you go to turn the corner, on the upper right side it appears as if it were a gun fire, but I don't know if it was the bomb that exploded nearby, I didn't play this arma reforge still

I wish they'd bring the lighting down in these buildings. When you walk in you're eyes take a moment to adjust and you're not diving into a barely lit sod house and can see everything.

In visual terms, ARMA really needs some proper ray tracing. Especially for interior lighting it would be great.
Although regarding gameplay, that's another matter. As only certain GPUs support it, it would mean unfair changes in visibility.
Arma3 has many years and legs left to run on. And im upgrading to an i7-13700 from a 4790 to make it glorious with a GPU from 1060 to 3060TI . Arma3 still looks insanely beautiful maxed out.
Arma4 will only be worth playing(as Arma3 thought us) 5 years after "official" release,when the DLCs have rolled out to completion and major updates stop(so we can comfortably mod). So im expecting to have Arma4 in a buyable state in no less than 6 or 7 years.
