Glad you liked that! The studio version is even better. The melodica is a fun instrument, very similar to the "Hooter", which is essentially a cheap plastic keyboard that you blow into the side of. There was an 80's band that made that nickname for the instrument very popular when they took it for their band name, "The Hooters". Check out "And We Danced" and "Day By Day".
Angela is my last remaining Reactor. She keeps a wide range of music coming and then of course is the fact is she's just adorable and enjoys the music she reacts.... Thanks...Keep them coming...
He is using a melodica which Is what a lot of musicians use to change or simulate different types of tones when singing a song. You can blow into it and have it sounding like a harmonica or use the more advanced ones such as Roger Troutman lead singer of Zapp used to on the song I want to be your man in Love and Basketball or Herbie Hancock in Rock it. This song is country soul which focuses on using songs natural harmony and blending of vocals with either very little musical instrument accompaniment.
What’s even more amazing than the actual song is that this is truly live. I don’t think people are aware how difficult it is to sound this good live. The Midnight Special is the place to go for live performances of great artists. Definitely listen to the studio version.
Orleans had another great song I think you will like a lot called "Love Takes Time." It peaked at #11 on Billboard's Pop Charts in 1979. So, I guess I am officially requesting it - and I hope others here do :-)
ORLEANS was a very popular group in the 70's. The singer/guitar player in the front with the beard and tank top is Jon Hall. He went on later to become a Congressman. Jon Hall also wrote a song with his wife called "Power", he sang it at the 1979 No Nukes concert in NYC. Check it out on you tube. Here is another good song from Orleans-"Still the One" th-cam.com/video/SdfW_2frXnE/w-d-xo.html
Was waiting for your to do this one! Melodica was what Larry Hoppen was playing. The music was written by the guitarist, John Hall, and the lyrics by his wife who heard him playing the chords and suggested a title and then the lyrics. Upstate NY music! Knew you would like this one!
This song always brings tears. Yes, tears. I used this as the ringtone for my precious friend, Charlotte. She passed away four years ago, and I still miss her so much! Wish I could share a dance with her right now. I love you, Charlotte, and miss you so!
The guy on the piano came over to Iraq and did a USO show for us. He was the guitar player with Jimmy Jamison from the group Survivor in Baghdad. He was absolutely amazing. RIP
Girl, you're taking me back to my innocent days. No matter how good a song is, if it brings back a memory or a time in your life that wasn't happy, you'll relive that. This song came out when I was in a good place in my childhood.
Angela, this song is one of my favorites from my songs from my "childhood". I would be your dance partner any time to this song. I just love your exploration into my generations' music. Brings back so many memories. THANK YOU!
Years and I mean my youth so 40+ years ago, Orleans was a AAA Bar band, this was the song that broke them thru. A very good band Angela, there are a few more songs that charted top 100
Great reaction. Thanks Angela. I saw this group many years ago opening for Bonnie Raitt. If I remember correctly guitarist John Hall played with her also. There were some great concerts back then and a lot cheaper too haha ☮
I know this is a year ago- I hope you see this Angela. Another great song that’s a must hear is their song “New Orleans Ladies!” Hope you will do it. ✌️
Phone or must see once to believe. I got both for you and dance with me was one. And Easy was one too and it was great that it meant a lot to you. I loved you doing it. At my age I am drawing a blank right now so i thank you guys for coming up with those songs from my past. The memories. How about the studio version of "RED" by Sammy Hagar. It was his 1st hit way back when (70's) and his best to this day in my opinion. He recorded it with the Montrose Band.
Very curious to see if you'll like this song. It is, again, from my youth, and it has that lilting country/soft rock vibe that I imagine sounds so ancient and dated in 2022. But the harmonies are so good, and the melody is so strong, and it hasn't been played-out or clichéd ... I think you may like this one. We'll see.
I'm just tired S.A. A Angela. I fall in love again. Ever Monday Wednesday and Friday night that I'm saying that I'm falling in love again. Like snow. That's what I saw in the morning forester FOR R. AST ER Forster sister's die saying the song I fell in love LO. VE again. Last l I s t night anna g h t by the forester sisters
Great song. I have loved this song since it came out in the 70's. Angella, may I ask, why you have so many different ear buds on. I've noticed that you always seem to switch them around during the videos. Just curious. Thanks for the great reactions.
Angela, PLEASE do a video on a VERY RARE dance song from 1986 from a group called Fire On Blonde. This group should have been as big as Madonna or Ace Of Base. Instead they only released three singles between 1986 and 1987. Their biggest hit was "Stop & Think" from '86. The groove and beat is infectious, and Suzi Rose Benson (the lead singer) sounds like a cross between Teena Marie and Taylor Dayne. Her vocals are powerful and incredible! 😀😄😄😄You have to hear it to believe it! No video was ever officially made, but there are 2 videos on youtube that showcase the song with a static background. Listen to either the 3:40 or 3:45 versions only: DO NOT PLAY THE REMIX/EXTENDED VERSIONS😣😣😣😣!!!! THEY TOTALLY DESTROY THE ESSANCE OF THE SONG!!!! You will love this rare gem and add it to your playlist....I guarantee it!!!😁😁😁😀😊
3 guys singing good 3 part harmony, but because someone at the board mixed it badly, 90% of the time we only hear 2 of them. The actual recorded version sounds much better than this unfortunate TV show video.
It absolutely is a talk box, a melodica is a keyboard type musical instrument, a talk box is a voice fed (basically through a straw) musical instrument that allows musicians to modify the sound of a musical instrument by shaping the frequency content of the sound and to apply speech sounds. Joe Walsh used Talk Boxes to GREAT success in both the James Gang and his solo career.
@@NoahFroio He is not talking into the tube, he is blowing into it. To me, it looks like it works similar to the instrument Jon Batiste plays on LSWSC intro. Not a talk box.

Agreed. The studio version is A+.
Like many already are saying, Nostalgia. This song harkens back to a good time when Music was real and had good and fun messages.

I was fortunate to grow up on this music.Great pick That lonely smiles says it all.
One of the Top 15 songs of the '70s!

Seconded.

That instrument is a melodica. Great song suggestion! I believe you reacted to Still the One already so maybe you should check out Love Takes Time.

Great reaction. Thanks Angela. I saw this group many years ago opening for Bonnie Raitt. If I remember correctly guitarist John Hall played with her also. There were some great concerts back then and a lot cheaper too haha ☮
this song was all over the radio the weeks and months after the girl of my dreams broke up with me ... 45 years later and still a little painful
Great song thanks, my early dating years!

Acoustic jazz guitarist Earl Klugh does a beautiful instrumental version of this song as well.
I know this is a year ago- I hope you see this Angela. Another great song that’s a must hear is their song “New Orleans Ladies!” Hope you will do it. ✌️
Great song! And Angela....will you ? : )

Have you ever heard Al Stewart's Song On The Radio ??
Find “Surf’s Up” by Jim Steinman (lead singer Rory Dodd) You will be amazed!

DayONE, do Frankie lymon song- sihlluette

It's a talk box. Listen to Peter Frampton. He uses it on his guitar!
It's not a talk box. It's a melodica. Completely different instrument.
The talk box doesn't work like that, or sound like that.
It absolutely is a talk box, a melodica is a keyboard type musical instrument, a talk box is a voice fed (basically through a straw) musical instrument that allows musicians to modify the sound of a musical instrument by shaping the frequency content of the sound and to apply speech sounds. @@TallyDrake I think he's speaking into the tube which is connected to the keys. Frampton's is hooked up to his pedal board. (Don't quote me)
@@NoahFroio He is not talking into the tube, he is blowing into it. To me, it looks like it works similar to the instrument Jon Batiste plays on LSWSC intro. Not a talk box.
This is not the best version of this song, but it shows them playing the melodica and is pretty good.
i would like to see your reaction to led zeppelins song .. fool in the rain ..
It's not a musical instrument he was just smoking weed while he was playing music.😂
These dudes denied the existence of their ears.
Kinda sad how the younger generation guys would rather stay home and play video games that write and sing love songs about & to women
IMO this version sucks compared to the studio version vocal-wise
A very good song ever
