Le Master Trollious By that I presume you mean he isn't making the most of his potential because clearly he is a pro and ranked 23 at that. His game isn't about attritional rallies like Ferrer, he goes for the winning shot as often as possible. I agree he'd need to get slimmer to compete in the top 10 on slower courts but it's not like he's a fatty. Anyway he took out the slim Zverev today who moves well for 6'6"
So many errors from both players. I love Monfils physical capabilities. How he's able to have so much stamina. Sock has a pretty good serve and forehand, he needs to improve on his backhand though. If he can create that into a weapon and be consistent, he could be in the top 20 IMO
the wimbledon titel and all the other great wins he had with pospisil this years proves just that he is a great player and i hope to se him going good in slams
God, we need to start weeding these nasty t-rex arm forehands out earlier at top academies. It really is crippling the consistency of a lot of the young, otherwise very talented american players. This is why Taylor Fritz is so promising - one of the most mechanically sound young players we've had in a long time
Why the hell are Americans have such a shitty forehand technique like that? Almost the same with backhand... As always some stupid teachers try to teach technique which is a bad idea. Every shot is different so the technique. That's why sock has trouble on high balls or to go cross court, always the same preparation and always with spin even if it's useless (on high balls you don't need much spin)
Jack Sock may not be the next big thing, but he could be a top 20 player if he focused on better conditioning and more consistency and placement on his groundies. He moves well, but doesn't read his opponents shots, so a lot of the time, he is reaching, despite his speed.
Don't forget his forehand. He's the only player on tour to even be compared to Nadal's spin. His backhand is getting better but I think Djokovic has the best two hander.
+TBY Yeah he has that some bad mechanic Andy had on his forehand with the elbow tucked way to far in and no arm extension. He seems to be athletic enough to make it work though
@@jamesreinauer9480 a good rule to remember. As long as it works, technique matters little. Unless it's causing significant limitations then yes it has to be changed. Not very esthetic, but Sock's forehand is huge, heavy, and does some great damage.
You can see the huge difference in quality between Sock and someone like Federer, Sock makes all these pathetic errors when running to get a ball behind the baseline, and I never see Fed do that.
Everything that is wrong with american tennis. 1. Try to hit to big on every shot, even if just a positional shot. 2. Hit winners! 3. Screw putting away volleys, they aren't important. 4. What do I do at the net again? 5. Pace on serve = win! 6. Conditioning? That means training to hit bigger shots right?
Sock reminds me a lot of Andy Roddick, except worse. Serve not as good, his forehand is solid but seems like something is weird with his technique that he struggles to go cross court. Backhand is non-existent. Movement is also really bad. Decent slice though.
+Brent Altemus You're kidding right? This guy just went toe to toe with mofils and did a superb job of it. His forehand is extremely powerful and precise. He has no struggles going across court, he has the speed, he just has to anticipate the ball a bit more. I will agree his backhand could have used some work, but consider the relativity of the caliber at which he's playing. Really efficient player bursting with potential
I love sock. He is going to be very good in the future
This didn’t age well...
Two of my favourite players. Sock's backhand has improved a lot since this video, definitely a top 10 player in the near future, currently ranked 26
Sock is just too fat
Le Master Trollious he could lose a few pounds but he's pretty mobile.
but still unfit for pro standards

+jesoby I didn't mean that specifically, but it's obviously true. His FH is really a treat to watch.
Just found my long lost Sock, on the tennis court

lmao the commentator: "that was an ass dropshot...excuse me"
+FangCoC Hahahahaha I heard that too I was like WTF?
Jack's touch with the drop shots and volleys is pretty amazing

I love Sock's forehand.
Monfils is a beast.
Gerop and choker
Very entertaining match! I'm not thrilled with American tennis of late but I can honestly say I like Sock after seeing this.

Arrogant teachers. You don't have time to think about technique while you play,it has to be natural.

He just won wimbledon!
Shut the fuck up man he is a pro and your not. You don't know his practice routine.
His forehand is scary. I noticed him when he beats Nishikori.
James Hampton yepp you are right
Just think about it, if his last name was sack we wouldnt be watching jack play today. So thank god for that
I see a lot of Andy Roddick in Sock, but, admittedly, with a better backhand.

lol you know nothing about tennis
Name says it all.
7. Backhand? you mean run around with forehand or slice?
Yeah, I agree with some of that haha, but in juniors now, Americans are doing good man! There will be some good Americans in the future!
What's sock's ranking now?
1:22-1:54

His tecnique might be a little weird because of the western grip
MMMMMM.........SOCK!!!!!! ...GO TO THE NET!!!!!!!!!!!
This pork pie is so fucking slow lol.
Monfils the best!!!!!!!
