I am so glad they finally added food fight to an atari collection, the most underrated atari game ever and isn't included in any of these game collections but was finally acknowledged here, may consider getting this in the future!
I used to play food fight all the time the game is complete trash all you do is go around and eat food that's all you do you eat food that's the whole game you have a little mouth and you eat food that's all you do.
This is a rather iffy update to what's already out there with Atari Vault. Sure, it's nice to see some different games for the 7800, the 8-bit family, the Lynx and the Jaguar, but even their selection isn't that great. What I want to know is, where are all of the arcade games that weren't already on countless other compilations? Where's Vindicators? Joust 1 + 2? Xybots? Hard Drivin' and Race Drivin'? Stun Runner? Super Sprint? Gauntlet 1 + 2? Kangaroo? Road Blasters? Paperboy? I mean, how many times do we need new releases of the same vector games? I love them, but c'mon...
Unfortunately, Atari's arcade division became a separate company. They'd need to negotiate for the rights. And considering those rights seem to be currently held by Warner (through their purchase of Midway), and there's an unfortunate history between those two companies? (Warner's greed was a large part of what created the 80's crash.)
If you ever told me a game many decades old is the number one game I’m waiting for I’d say you’re crazy but I cannot wait for this game to come out. It’s a treasure
I'm excited to get this. My hope is maybe they'll turn this into a series and add more console and arcade gems that aren't on previous compilations, like Gauntlet arcade, Midnight Mutants 7800, and the 2000 series of Jaguar games. Maybe they can even tap into the fantastic Atari Homebrew community like AtariAge, GoodDeal Games, and Packrat games.
Not gonna lie I wish ET was included as the same way a lot of us love to watch awful movies that are so bad that they’re actually fun to watch I’d love to see if this is the case with ET
I wish they could’ve had the Atari boxing game where you see the above the ring view of a head and two arms for each fighter. That was a lot of fun as was the skiing game. Love missile command and asteroids etc. but we really need five different versions of each??
Thank you for this overview. I was in doubt if I should buy it, and now I know, that the 2, 3 games I would interested in playing are not worth it. Because I realized, that +35 years later, I would not go beyond playing 10, 15 min. And then be done. I mean, for a much lower price, I might grab it. But as of now, nope.
I know its because they don’t have the rights but its just hard to tell Ataris history without anything from Activision. They made some of the best games for the 2600.
I’m definitely buying this but how in the world did they leave out Atari 5200 Baseball which was the best Baseball game ever back then! My Intellivision friends were so jealous!! Lol Also where’s Countermeasure?? That’s a great 5200 tank game worlds ahead of 2600 Combat obviously!
I think they should have brought in MORE games from the Atari Jaguar - As that is the sustem most Atari curious players have not been to customed to. Atari "Do the math!"
Yeah, it's weird how many 2600 games are in here when there are already a million 2600 complications. They should have focused more on the 5200, 7800, and Jaguar.
I also think they should include their arcade games from 1984 and after, like Guantlet, Paperboy, Marble Madness, Primal Rage, Xybots, and S.T.U.N. Runner.
I'll be getting this for sure...well...that is if it gets a physical release. No digital-only games for me thank you. Anyway I'm happy to see that some new games have been added that weren't on any previous collections. I do wish however that the home-brewed 2600 version of "Star Castle" would have been included as well as the PSP "evolved" versions of "Pong" "Super Breakout" "Asteroids". Now if only SEGA would release something like this but focus mainly on their coin-op arcade library. I'd love to play 4-player "Eliminator" once again. :) :)
Looks great albeit I have all the previous compilations and the Atari X and 9 but will buy this for the 800 and jaguar games as well as lynx. For all asking for space invaders etc there would be licensing issues for games on properties like Namco, Taito, Nintendo, stern, etc that would make it problematic to most likely get for a compilation.
I really wished they included Tempest 3000 as part of the "new games" since there's no way to play that game on modern systems without emulation and piracy, but at least the original and 2000 are here.
