@@tannerjthomas yes. I just recently brought a 2017 kx450f and is looking for a video of complete disassembly and reassemble. Theses detailed videos you have is very helpful
My video on the engine reassembly has the top and assembly and putting the motor back in too I’m just missing the top end disassembly which I’m working on the video for now. I left out a few small things too just in the interest of time so if you have any questions along the way I’m always happy to answer as best I can too.
Hey there, great vid. Really helpful! Just checking that the clutch hub nut is 30mm as you say? And do you reckon i could split the engine without the aid of a splitter? Thanks, Wade
I’m out of town right now so I can’t check for sure but yea I’m pretty certain it’s a 30mm socket. I’d say no without damaging the case. The tolerance between the crank shaft and the crank bearing is so tight that without a splitter it would be very hard to do. A splitter/puller set is $85 and worth every penny. Plus when you put the case back together you’ll need the crank puller for the same reason.
@@tannerjthomas thanks for the reply. I just got the cover off and you're correct... it is a 30mm nut. I'm going to attempt to split without the tool. The manual says use the pry points. If no success use a splitter. I dont want to make a career of this so trying not to tool up. Thanks again.
@@wadefeatherston1209 sorry for the late reply. Did the pry points work for you? Definitely doable I personally just usually shy away because it is just really easy to do damage to the aluminum and I could see myself doing it. Hopefully it was successful for you though!
You ever order the cases. I’m thinking of getting new cases due to striped out oil change bolt. I was told that new cases come with some of the bearings already in them. Do you know man
Some of them do have the bearing yep. Just make sure when you order it that it has them included. They’re not difficult to install if not. If you’re going to split the bottom then ordering a new case half is a good way to go. Especially if the drain bolt is stripped it’s best to order the new case half than to try to repair them if you can.
Thanks. I have same model bike kx450 2018. Unfortunately ya gotta order both case half’s they don’t sell separately. Did your cases come with some of the bearings on the one your doing in vidio. Like the clutch and main bearing. Thanks for your reply’s. And great frigen vidio. So detailed
@ 8:20 when removing the counterweight shaft, what is the best way to hold the shaft on the other side? my nut is on there relatively tight and I cannot just hold the weight on the other side with my hand. Thanks!
If you have an impact wrench you can actually hold onto the crankshaft so it doesn’t rotate before you remove the first gear and it will will hold it enough to get the nut off. Best option is a Motion Pro clutch/gear holding tool. $32 to order. I should have put that in the video sorry.
@@tannerjthomas that’s okay my crank seized so I am not able to get my piston off until I split my case. I just impacted it off it was just more ugga Duggas then I was expecting
Right side of my 2017 kxf450 casing cracked, can I fit 2016 right side case to my left side or will i need both cases as I know they're same engine but not sure if they're cut precise to the left side etc
Hey bro great video. Have you by chance make a video of complete engine disassemble
I have not done one of the engine removal or top end yet. Are you looking at doing to do the whole motor?
