    Hey, thank you for your really helpful guides! I have this problem with a X-500 and after nudging it works for some time and then get's stuck again, like half of a mm before it should. I also increased the tension on the curtains a bit but it still gets stuck after some time. Did you come across a fix for this? i really have no clue what the problem could be...

    Recently got a Nikon FM2 that kept getting the mirror stuck whenever I tried to shoot and wouldn't let me advance either. This little nudge totally worked! Will continue to test the camera but for now I'm so happy to have found this vid!

    Thank you for your videos! I have Minolta X-300 problem. Do you have any ideas which part should I be looking at and adjusting if curtain position seems good but whenever I press the shutter, curtain only opens one third on the left side. My guess is that it's something also connected to shutter count because it just stays on 'S'.

    Hi, thank you for this video!
    I have a Minolta X-300s with completely identical problem shown on your video. After moving the curtain in the correct position to the left, it gets the mirror down to a correct position, but afterwards every time I advance the lever the curtain is back on the same problematic position. Any ideas?
    Thank you!

    That happens to me in a Minolta Srt101. It happens at all shutter speeds but primarily at slower ones. Once it gets stuck before full closure, it remains that way at any speed. Even if I give it a nudge, that keeps happening, so that would probably ruin almost all of the shots in a roll. What do you suggest in this situation?

    • @FixOldCameras
      @FixOldCameras  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The curtain tension might be slightly increased to facilitate a complete release cycle. There is presently not a FOC video featuring this procedure on a SRT101. But these videos will show you the general idea. th-cam.com/video/V9aXUnKMmPM/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/E5Er07NGgrE/w-d-xo.html

    Can you help me? I've got a Yashica J7 with a horizontal silk shutter like this one. Unfortunetly, the second courtain is separated from the first, exposing the film on the middle way of the lever advance. And there is a little rip on the end of the first courtain. When it was covered by the second one, that part was not shown. Is there some way to fix it??

    It worked! but than it heppened again... It keep getting stuck. I managed to take a few pictures, than had to take off the lens to push the courtine this bit to the left by the lens entrance. Do you think I might lose the roll for it? Do you have another tip so it would really solve the problem?
    thank you!

    • @FixOldCameras
      @FixOldCameras  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should not lose the film, but further service to the shutter is probably going to be required to eliminate the issue.

    Hi, I have received a Ricoh KR-10 recently and I found that the shutter is wired. I can infinitely advance the lever but I cannot fire the shutter at all. I tried different batteries so that is not the case. Everything else even the light meter works perfectly. When I pull the advance lever the film take-up spool turns well but the shutter seems like just a little bit away from fully coaked. Is there any way to fix this problem? Thanks!

    • @FixOldCameras
      @FixOldCameras  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The bar that runs across the bottom of the camera when the winding the mechanism as a post the on it the cocks the shutter. It is possible by tweaking the post just a bit it will engage the shutter into a energized position. It is also possible that the latching lever of the shutter mechanism itself is sticking. Remove the bottom cover and watch the bar as it travels. Observe the post function, although it will be hard to see and try to determine if removing the sliding wind bar and tweaking the post might correct the fault. With the bar removed you can gently push the shutter cocking lever to see if it latches the shutter. Do not push the latching lever beyond the point where it latches the shutter.

    I have a similar problem with my X-300 and this helps to get the shutter curtain unstuck, but that's not the only shutter problem it has. When I cock the shutter afterwards, the curtain just moves back to this stuck position instead of staying on the right side. When I fire the shutter after cocking it, the curtain doesn't move, only the mirror locks up. This happens every time and I can only fix it by moving the curtain further to the left as you did in this video. I think my problem might be related to the curtain or lever not advancing far enough or the curtain not being "caught" or held by whatever is supposed to hold it in place after advancing. Do you have any idea how I could possibly fix this problem?

    • @FixOldCameras
      @FixOldCameras  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is possible the cocking gear where it meshes with shutter gears could have slipped out of time or has been stripped. It is also possible the shutter bands are slipping because the glue that held them failed. This video shows the wind gear ilder - th-cam.com/video/6ZndFfBOvSI/w-d-xo.html

    • @FixOldCameras
      @FixOldCameras  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If there is not an issue with the shutter gear train and the the shutter curtain roller is attached properly the shutter tension could be increased slightly. However, too much additional tension could damage the shutter and will not correct any inherent issues causing the shutter to hang.

      Fun little auto wind camera... maybe shoot black and white and process the film yourself. It is not overly difficult. All you need is three chemicals and a small process tank. You can then scan the negatives into a digital fill.
