    Great video. I purchased a Fude nib accidentally and have been trying to figure out what to use it for. The pen is a Baoer 388 Golden Arrow and cost only about $5. I was surprised at how smooth this nib was, and how much ink it put down on paper.

    Sailor makes a Fude nib in 40 and 55 degree angled versions that are about $12 without a converter and includes two cartridges. I far prefer the 40 nib, the higher angled ones require you hold the pen at increasingly ridiculous angles to achieve the fine lines. Also, the 40 degree writes well upside down, the 55 does not.

    Your choice of the matte finish gives your pen a beautiful appearance. Congratulations

    Really interesting pen. Thanks for the video. I would have liked to also see how the pen is filled, but this was edited out. Everything else was really clear with fantastic camera work. Thank you!

    JinHao X450 or X750 are great fountain pens even though they are cheap. One can put a Fude Nib on it too.

    Here's a tip for those struggling with the fact that the ink runs out so fast (my only gripe with this amazing pen): remove the ink converter and fill the entire back of the pen with ink! You'll get massive ink capacity (even larger than for example the one of the TWSBI VAC700), and the ink doesn't seep out because the Sailor body has a sealing O-ring at the base of the thread. The balance of the pen is affected a bit, but you get used to it very fast.

      Well a common consensus is not yo eyedrop a fountain pen with metal parts contacting the ink...

    BOCK also have fude nibs. Titanium. Not bad. I got one on my Taiwanese pen 3952.

    Really cool nib, thanks for the review. US prices are a little outrageous as with most japanese pens, I would recommend buying straight from Japan instead unless you want a tuned nib. Engeika has the standard 1911 with 14k Naginata Fude in stock for just under $180, which is still quite expensive but more reasonable.

      Yeah, this pen is so expensive. Will be best to just buy from Japan if possible.

    how does the plastic green Sailor fude pen compare with the 21k Sailor fude pen?

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +jazanna The 21K is smoother because the nib is rounded off much better. I find that the green Sailor pen works best on paper with a bit of texture, not those really smooth paper.

      @@mhergoparian174 They are now very expensive and difficult to find. Sailor increased the price by USD $150 - $200 in 2018.

      I checked the prices they are quite high and only limited to be sold in Japan and in few stores ! There are also a lot of changes in the design of the pen body and nib (I don’t know if it writes as good as the old one ) . In your opinion are the sailor pens, regarding their build quality and nibs , the best in the market ? I heard many people say that ( even more than Pelikan , pilot and other reputable brands ) what is your opinion about all this ?

    Did you know that Noodler has a history of destroying the feeder in a fountain pen? I was surprised that you use Noodler in your fountain pens. I have heard that Noodler no longer effects the feeder. However, I'm seeing a lot of skipping in your fountain pens, especially your Falcon. The Japense ink, iroshizuku can't beat it.

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm not sure if it's actually Noodlers ink fault. I don't really have any problems with that ink with my fountain pens. As for the Falcon nib, it's not because of the ink but the design of the feed section. That Falcon nib's ink feed problem is well known. Yeah, using those dye based ink like Iroshizuku definitely will be much better in fountain pens since they flow more easily.

    most important to inform is the price, if you do not remember, look it up before making a video

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The price varies so much depending on where you buy it and who you buy from. This was around US$500 when I bought it. It’s now around around $700 or more. That’s why I always ask people to look for the price online
