Forgot to say that the Jerie Pingoy Rule requires high school transferees two years residency before being able to suit up for their college team.
I think the Senate was involved because why stop the HS from the school that they wish to go to.
At least with this new rule, you can use that logic because it only limits the athlete to play for the school.
In retrospect ,so what if Bolick stayed with DLSU, CJ Perez with ADMU, Gozum with UP, Escamis with UE... As a University you don't put chains on your students if they decide to pursue another major/course or playing time. I mean people do change what they want in Life especially when an opportunity arises. Poaching is an issue but it is something older people should be responsible for not a student athlete. They will agree on something pero sa morals sa poaching hindi kaya?

I don't think the value of UAAP will go down but will enhance as players will be encourage to stay in their school
Imagine UE still having Paranada and Remogat, ADMU having Padrigao, and UST kept Nonoy and Cansino

schools that will somehow benefit from this rule if this gets green lit are those who are better at their grassroots program like FEU, ADU, NU. known to develop players from HS yang mga schools na yan. FEUs current line up right now is composed mostly of players whom they elevated from Juniors program to HS. Pre, Pasaol, Daa, Felipe (who won S85 Jrs championship) Bautista, Ona, Alforque, Bagunu, Montemayor, Buenaventura. They're even expecting Mongcopa, Cabonillas and Burgos to join the Seniors Team come next season. FEU really gives priority in their home grown players.
I wish I could say the same to Adamson jrs though, whom year after year is losing blue chip players by going to other schools that could offer ahem, better opportunities.

The new rule is all about parity. Kayo na din nagsabi, ganda panoorin nung Adamson nung Leo Austria era. Imagine if yung UE di nalagasan ng players yearly. Final 4 contender na sila for sure. Walang kawawa, don’t be exaggerated. For the student atheletes naman, work hard. Kaya naman sila nirerecruit because of the program

Wala ng residency at buo ang eligibility years kasi kawawa ‘yung mga umaasa sa sports scholarship para makatapos ng college.

For me, It's a W move if pag uusapan natin parity and competition since that will encourage the schools to keep their players and the players to stay at their schools, pero it's an absolute L move for the players. Kawawa talaga mga players kung mangyayari yan especially kung they're willing to improve their stock pagdating sa next level ng careers nila, yung playing yrs na yan, magagamit nila talaga yun to boost their stock eh aside from exposure and makatapos ng acads nila. Isipin ninyo, nakalaro sila sa former school nila ng 1 yr tapos lipat sa isang school edi afer residency, may 1-2 yrs na lang sila instead of 3? IMO, That difference is very vital for their careers, chance nila yun to boost their stock, either for the PBA Draft or chance to get a move abroad. I hope UAAP thinks about the players' career kasi at the end of the day, they also have families to raise.

21?? Why would you be 21 on your 1st year in college?? Even with the 12th grade, those who are on their 1st year in college are 18 or 19. So why did you say 21? I don't get it. I don't understand why you would say 21. Every athlete has 5 playing years, and if the age limit is 25 at the start of the tournament, you will only be 23 on your 5th year if you were 18 on your 1st year, or 24 if you were 19 on your 1st year. So you can still definitely play on your 5th year in college.

Read an article of a 20 year old HS student lol I wouldn't be surprised if there's a 21 year old HSer. If there's a problem, it's the residency and holding back a year during their HS years.
@@karloluigiencarnacion7216 in the UAAP juniors, any sport, age limit is 18, age as of start of the tournament. In the NCAA juniors, age limit is 19, age as of the start of the tournament. So there's a possibility that an NCAA (not UAAP) highschool player was 19 at the start of the tournament & then turned 20 during the tournament. That, however, is rare. It may happen, but not often. So if ever it does, that player will still be 20 when the tournament starts in his 1st yr of college. So he still won't be overage even if he plays 5 years in college.
