What you described about Xbox was my exact experience with the last game on Xbox One X, took a good while (with very little community consensus) to really understand why it was so bad, but had reached the same conclusion with extensive testing. Only 3 potential outcomes. I eventually moved to PC and swear by just learning the default swing speed. But it was initially madenning to find only scarce, annecdotal evidence of why it was so poor on Xbox.
I also felt, with only the limited outcomes, any frameskip or gamelag during a swing had a catastrophic effect on the Xbox outcome, whereas PC was vastly more forgiving.
Thank you Zane! I'm on XB1 and almost recalibrated a couple of times but talked myself out of it. Thanks to you and Gamer I now am covinced since I am able to hit Perfects on Master I just need to work on the muscle memory.

@@dan0kablamo688there is a way to delete your saved game data, but you keep your progress. That's basically the only way to reset it
Are there tempo issues within tgc tours right now? I found my rd 1 today was perfects to slight fast/slows. My second round today I just couldn't hit any tempo. I noticed others in the society chat mentioning it as well.

Edit: Hearing that XBOX Series X has a little more variation within the swing tempo. Guess you can chalk up that win for Microsoft.
i am on series x, did not do calibration, i see indeed more than just 3 outcomes. i am quite happy how it goes, and how they did

I’m having an issue now I’ve gone back to default calibration. Basically I can hit perfects, maybe 40% of the time. The rest are either quite extreme fasts or slows (not very fasts, but right on that border). As such the misses are quite big. As in I cannot hit a very slight fast or slow, it won’t register there. Any suggestions or ideas what’s going on? I’m on series x and elite controller 2. Makes the game so tough as it’s right down the middle or in trouble 😩
I don't get calibration!! I purposely did 10 very fast swings thinking it should be more forgiving on me for my fast swing tempo, but it doesn't appear to have affected it at all. The only way I can hit semi consistent is if I do 90% swings, but they're all usually fast. So I have to aim right, then I hit that one random perfect shot and then I'm in the OB 🙄

I play on pc using a mouse, I played ok never calibrated , I did try a xbox controller I couldn't get use to it. Now I use the 3 click and playing a lot better no need to calibrate. 👍👍
Id love to un calibrate my swing. I find i have to calabrate every time i play now. I think I might restart the game i cant get but maybe 1 perfect swing per 18 holes and im on ps5. I get more slows after calabrating my swing where i was always fast before
I don't quite understand how that if you calibrated it for a fast swing and then while you're chipping you alter your swing to a slower tempo it starts making your swing bad bc it's calibrated for a fast swing. I play real golf and I have a variety of tempos for different situations so I don't understand how the game can't compensate for the change.
I calibrated on PS4 slim and I hit multiple perfects so doesn't seem to be an issue for me. Saying that though, I'm not playing anywhere near master level so it could be this just isn't an issue with old gen at lower difficulties
Why doesnt HB just enlarge the perfect and gray windows on Xbox only, to accommodate the systems wider polling points compared to other systems? Seems like a way to fix it. Also on PS4 you can not calibrate if you want to play wired. Your polling points will be a little outside on the left and right of perfect. Looks like the same points as 2k21, but now they fall outside the white since perfect is smaller, as opposed to hitting perfect edges on master in the last game.
How do we know what "default" is after resetting it back to "default" I calibrated, it felt great but now i'm all over the place. I'm on Steam and idk how to reset it back to the default. I feel like the default is subjective. But I need help trying to fix this lol.
i purchased this game on xbox series s and started with it in pro difficulty and the game was playing great i could hit perfect alot of the time then i switched the swing difficulty to master and i could not ever get a perfect again... same swing... also now there is a stall out on the backswing where it starts then stalls right at the bottom multiple times and it takes like 3 or 4 trys before the club will go all the way back... whats the deal here? seems if you switch anything after you initially start playing it messes the swing right up? anyone else?
Great video. I can confirm that calibrating on a series X will make it impossible to hit perfect. I did go through and delete everything to get back to the default calibration, but it is a process.

I found it on Reddit but basically you have to delete your file when offline then create a new profile. Then when you reconnect you need to load and make sure you select the most recent file not the saved file.
Im on Xbox and never had this many issues with 2k21. On old gen. On Xbox straight out the box. Im fasting practically every shot. With a few perfects and a slow. Basically. 80% fast 15% perfect and 5% slow.
I'm coming back to this video and after 300+ hours and I've done swing calibration around 100 times while sometimes playing 10-15 hours between calibrating my swing and I've probably hit a perfect shot 1 out of every 50-75 shots. 1 out of every 5-10 shots will be VERY FAST or VERY SLOW and when you're playing in Kinetic or CC-A that essentially ruins your chances at making the cut every week.
It's been proven that the game's tempo is outright broken
The dial's Perfect spot changes depending on calibration, then depending on the current framerate it will land wherever it wants. For instance at 58FPS the Perfect spot may be in the middle, 59 is more to the right, then 60 it is farther to the right outside of the Perfect zone
On the PC version I'm forced to lock the framerate to something weird so the dial hits in the middle when Perfect. At 60 the dial lands to too much the right right on the edge of the Perfect zone and becomes a slow tempo the moment the power is 101% or higher (The tempo bars shrink when overpowering)
Gonna toss this out there for the people who have calibrated on Xbox, I have calibrated on Xbox and I feel I got very lucky because I hit more perfects now I hit 5 slows and 5 very slows and it’s perfect for me I found my tempo and it works really good with with the flick up respawn talked about him his swings video. Hope this will help some of y’all who have calibrated on Xbox
Gonna try this. I should have never touched the calibration. Perfect is now edge of perfect and fast.

If your using a new Xbox elite custom controller then do the calibration. The sticks on the elite are 10x better then old and PlayStation. It’s super crisp and very accurate
Maybe someone can help me calibrate by backswing stall glitch. It takes about 8 pumps before I can tee off.

Polling rate is terrible
This tempo thing is terrible. It has nothing to do with hooks and slices. There is no visual tempo feedback.
My thumb tempo is consistent and trying calibration has broken it.
If you play on master right before you calibrate change the difficulty to pro. Calibrate on pro and switch back to master when your playing and that problem is solved. You will be able to get perfect on master. This works on any platform. Same if you play on pro. Calibrate on pro am then switch back to pro when your playing. This concept has been proven by good players, me, and a pretty big streamer on PC aKa LoX

I used to be the same way Jugsy and for me, calibration turned into more of a detriment than anything. Learning one tempo I found was better than re learning a different tempo every day.
On PS5 I accidentally tried this out, before watching this video. It has ruined my game. I can't get it to recalibrate. Has anyone found a way on PS5 to get back to default? TIA
On xbox it's still bugged. You have to reset it otherwise say goodbye to perfect timings
how? you have to delete saved data and reinstall? i calibrated once and it messed the swing right up where it stalls at the buttom multiple times and there is no way to fit a perfect. after i delted and re installed i could hit perfect shots on pro no problem. i switched to master and it fucked everything up again...
Thanks for that explanation, I play on xbox and have always struggled with the swing mechanics and I thought that the new game would certainly address this, however was very disappointed that it is even more difficult than before. I can barely manage master and dont see myself making very many cuts in TGC CC if it is on master difficulty.

I have been playing on PC and have been doing the calibration everyday I play. I feel like I haven't hit a perfect once using master diff
Try dropping graphical settings. There is definite lag on higher settings which effect your timing.

Xbox controllers have the same polling rates on XBox consoles and PC. It is strange that Xbox has so many problems with this game.
Having said that after playing with Xbox controllers since TGC1, I took the plunge about 8 months ago and started playing the game with my PS Pro DS4 on PC for 2K21, night and day difference for my tempo consistency.
Could never go back to my Series X controller, it doesn't feel as responsive on this game which makes sense as Playstation controllers have much less input lag even over USB at 250hz.
Gamer Ability directed me here because I calibrated on PC and can only get a fast. I will try your suggestion. On my game in the locker and golfer sections I get a red tint that in golfer doesn't allow me to see the appearance changes at all. The only thing I can see is in the height section. the rest of the game works great. Even 2K can't figure this out. Anyone here have this issue?

@@MoreRespawn each club is different though. A driver calibration shouldn't apply to a wedge. You swing both clubs much differently.
I’m on Xbox, I drive myself crazy with the calibration. I can’t hit a perfect but somehow I do well with slightly grey fast. This game is ass!
Swing calibration on PS4 (2K21) does absolutely nothing. I'm afraid to calibrate it on 2K23 after watching this video.
This mechanic has been used since tiger woods. Why can't these devs figure it out? It's been terrible every game.

I play on PC and I still have the option however, now calibration loads up a 3 wood vs driver. Wish I would not have calibrated but Ive been neurotic about it like in 2k21

Just remove your save file. You don't have to reinstall the game.
can you not just reset to default controls in settings and remap everything again and rest your swing

I had to stop playing 2k23 ad went back to 2k21 the rough is so unrealistic and no matter what speed I have my swing is always very fast so yeah this game sucks hard worst game of the year by far

I'm a 8 year vet on The Golf Club/2k franchise. 99% on master/legend mode. Towards the end of the cycle of the last game I calibrated and was unable to hit a perfect the rest of the cycle. Got the new game early release and I just felt like I had to swing so slow to achieve a perfect so I went and calibrated and now I once again am unable to hit perfects. My perfect is a grey fast basically.
Do you play PS4 and with a wired connection? If so, you will have no perfect point if you calibrate.

@@912jrod I don’t know much about Xbox, but if it’s impossible to hit perfect (I mean literally impossible, not just hard) it’s got to be the calibration that did it. Unless you want to delete your save file and start over, do calibration again and play around with different combinations of fast and slow swings and see if you can get a center polling point again. You’ll probably end up with a slower swing than what you want though.

And the pulling rates between consoles are the same. the pc might be different but all the consoles use the same format for the pulling rates. so don't know where you got your info but its wrong.
They absolutely are not purely based on information provided by the actual companies producing the hardware. If everything was exactly the same, results of swing tempo would also be exactly the same across all platforms, which they are not. Every platform provides different results for same output.
They are the same i have both ps5 and xbox x and have done multiple test on both platforms and the results are identical. you are getting bad information.
On 2k21 once I calibrated for my mouse it was much better. So I’m mixed on this video

So so very wrong! i play on xbox series x and yes you definitely should calibrate. if people are not able to hit perfect after calibration than the don't understand calibration and are doing it wrong.do more research on calibration befor you tell people not to calibrate.

I understand it perfectly and after i calibrated i hit a perfect shot every single time. i have played these golf games since 1999 when cyber tiger came out on nintendo64 so i know everything about golf games.

The game has crap servers and net code. The swing type doesn't sync properly when other players change it. This bug was also present in 2k21
