I was really looking forward to your breakdown and experience with these skill points considering how murky the description is for some of them. Really dig your idea on pulling the hybrid out of the bag. Made that move and makes total sense saving points on that group and getting 2 clubs utilizing the woods group points. Downloaded this on Steam about a week ago, so I'm relatively new to this game, but really enjoying it. I'm old enough to remember Microsoft Golf from the late 1990's and this is by far more fun to play.
Like I said, I've only been playing for about a week and I agree with you on the hybrids. I've never once played a hybrid, even if my caddie hands me one for a shot, I go straight into my bag and get a club I'm familiar with. Good video on the explanation of the skills section. Earned a new sub.
Almost to 50 skill points! Gonna fine tune some once I get them all. The grind for fittings have been fun! Striving for nothing but epic & legendary.
Hey I just got '23 during the summer sale so I'm new to this particular game. But I wanted to point out that you can use your "guest" golfers to try other builds. Every skillpoint you earn is actually 4 from this view-- it's kinda mid-late game content though, because even though every golfer has access to the fittings, it still costs creds to properly load out.

Thank you for this very well-explained video! I could be wrong, but if you don't like anything in that particular vertical tier of "catch-up" skills, you don't have to put any points into those in order to unlock the next tier of skills to the right. The only prerequisite for that next section of skills are that you've spent enough points overall.

The idea of going no hybrid is great, I didn't even think of that to save points for elsewhere. The gapping is a bit weird in my bag when I do so, especially as I don't have a 3i in a set I like and I am kind of OCD so I like the irons to be all matching. haha!
I will need to do a reset on my skills as I honestly haven't paid much attention to what they do, as closely as this...thinking about the shots where I would actually use them vs just having them for those rare instance moments.

I agree totally about the hybrids they’re a waste of resources, hybrids were designed to get the ball out of poor lies but in game they nearly always have a worse % lie than even a three iron. Tiger should know this and as an advisor to HB/2K you would have thought he would bring this up.

I think it's important to just take a moment and appreciate the massive change from zero skills upgrading to massive and complex leveling up system that I totally love! About time a new version of a sports game is actually a new version! 🙌
yea it's like the devs played Path of Exile or Diablo or something... I can see why "purists" aren't fans, but I like this soooooo much more than just buying some clubs to get more stats, and be stuck with those stats. It's cool u can (theoretically) fit every single club in the bag, and hand-craft the distances and shaping-play to your personal style... some of the best 'personalization' I've seen in a game (any genre) in a hot minute-- very nice!

Great video. I couldn't agree more on hybrids. The distance penalty from heavy rough is enough for me to take a long iron over a hybrid. I ended going with all the passives except hybrid and spread the others out.

I don't carry hybrids either. Also you can exchange hybrid fittings for a custom fitting on any type of club.
I loved the Zero sum 3i from 2k21 I am trying to recreate it with fittings.

Edit: Want to say too, I took the flight boost on the irons into a headwind so that I can negate the headwind as much as i can.

Can we get an updated skills PKG?
trying to understand the numbers given to skills. As an example my Driver head is a red power +8. Would it be an advantage to upgrade when possible to a red power head with a +12. What would be the advantage and would this apply to all skills.
What do the numbers mean, ie, Red coloured putter head with a " +10 " verses another Red putter head with a " +8 " , both with let's say " Transition" ?

I'm lvl 10 and haven't used any skills points yet as i'm really not sure about them. I would prefer that my player has the same attributes throughout a round and that how well i'm doing is dependent on how well I play the game. I would have also not used any of the fittings, but the default stats are too poor, I want to implement more shaping into my game without taking the hit on distance/putting. So, i'm going to only fit the legendary fittings for the time being.
Love ya help videos you should drop a video on transition, swing timing, swing path, lie range, etc the base stats and improving it with fittings which fittings do you want the timing or the transition or power etc that’s would be amazin. Appreciate you thanks for the videos !

What exactly does good and poor swing mean? Does good mean perfect or the grey area? Also does that mean a good swing for that certain club. If you have a poor or good swing with a different club does it affect it?
Perfect is perfect. Good is grey zone or a perfect. Poor is dark grey (red fast from last year) zone. Everything is club specific.

I just Maxed out on skill points the big 50 😳😀 Still not sure what are the best skills to go for. I am a good golfer don’t miss the fairways or greens much. I keep myself pretty much up to is it pro just below master. So what do you recommend bud? Cheers 👍
Does a skill only apply to that club or all? eg. Driver off the deck skill for improved lie range boost off fairway. This just helps improve lie hitting drivers off fwy? If so, seems like a waste given how often that is happening. Thanks!

Can you tell me when its 3 click is the following accurate... as you increase transition the power circlre to hit thickness grows, path makes the top hit area larger and timing makes the bottom click space larger?
I really dont understand the putting skills? Like how/what do they possibly do? Slow your putts down? Make them quicker? Surely you just pull the putter back to what you think is correct then push it forward to hit the ball.
Putt weight makes the perfect power easier to hit. Putt path makes the accuracy line bigger.
@@MoreRespawn Are you sure roll boost speeds up the green rather than slows it down? I thought the roll stat on the ball made the greens slower, so a roll boost skill would also do that
@@reezellthia It speeds it up. Tested it on the passive. Unless it is different on other skills which would be wild. But maybe I guess.

I'm pretty sure it's swing path top bar and timing bottom but I haven't seen anyone say this to be 100% accurate
That is accurate. Top swing path, bottom timing.

Go into the archetype section and hit whatever button corresponds to help on the controller and I think it goes through them all for you.
Just starting playing this game with the free weekend a few weeks back. I decided to go ahead and purchase the game before the Steam sale ended, however, like most people who start off on a free weekend, I just played. As such, before I found material like these videos here I've done things to my player etc. and I'd love to just wipe the slate totally clean and start over. No levels, no skills etc. but I've spent hours scouring the web and nothing I found works. The comment is made in this video several times regarding the character build "every time I play" which indicates some way to restart, mayhaps, that I have not found?
With a Steam PC version of the game, is there a way to fully reset? I've tried deleting the player files and even the Steam files under the game number buried many subdirectories down and to no avail. It clears some things, but not the VC, skills, levels and what I'd really like. Help!

But now I have a question. What does "poor swing timing" and "good swing timing" exactly mean? Does "good" mean, that it must be "perfect"? Or only in the "grey" area? and poor means out of the "grey" area? Or out of the perfect area?
Good means the gray area and perfect. Poor timing means anything outside of that, so the dark gray region.

So I understand this when using a controller but for 3 click. You hold to set the power then click at the top and at the bottom. So is the top click timing or swing path is the question? once I know this then it will be easier to set my skills accordingly. Just dropped you a Sub.
Top is swing path bottom is timing. Left of center is fast, right of center is slow timing

Also if you have these skills about hitting into headwind does that mean you dont take into account headwind when there is headwind? All a tad confusing.
It will not counteract the headwind, you still need to take it into account !
What happens if you reset your skills?
You tried using chips shots out of bunkers rather than splash? Seems a lot easier, can't remember last time I even tried a splash shot
I have but not sure if that stays in the game for the cycle. Trying to get out of the habit

Yes, the skills, the fittings, and the balls all are used online.
Hey, is it normal that the online mode is harder than the career mode? When I play online with my created player, the timing is much harder than in career mode.
Online matchmaking is on the pro difficulty. If you are playing lower than that on your career that would make sense. Also depends on what conditions you are playing as the online will randomize it to an extent. Swing difficulty is always pro though.
What is the definition of putt weight and putt path?
putt weight is how much margin of error you have for the putt power meter... Putt path is how much margin of error you have for your directional input (blue line)
Do i need to do any of this to just play matchmaking? Do different pros actually do stuff online?
The different pros come with their own skills, bag, and attributes, so you can just use them.

i don't understand this skill stuff at all
I do not like this new version so far. It's good that they include player skills but I don't have the SLIGHTEST clue what anything in that screen means at 0:59. It's complete gibberish!! All these archetypes, builds, and skill points, and activation, deactivation. I get that you're trying, Respawn, but this just went COMPLETELY over my head! To a beginner (not just to this game but to golf overall - I don't know a wedge from an iron or a fade from a draw... and I honestly don't care). Gibberish to me. How about a beginner version where you explain these things? 2K sports is saying, "If you're a beginner to golf, then just f**k you you're on your own." Why do they have to make everything so complicated??
* What is a skill point? Where do you get it? What does assigning "points" do? Does it directly affect your rating? How? How can I see my ratings? What are levels? Does that mean how many points you put in or does that mean the column? Are you saying that skills come and go depending on what you do in game? How does that work? Why only 50? You've got 7 columns and 6 rows so you can't really put more than one point in one cell. Does this mean you can only increase your total ratings by 50? How can a skill activate and deactivate? Does that apply to each cell individually? Does it matter how many points you put in that cell?
* What are all those columns and icons and what do you mean by spending 4 in a column? What about the 8, 12, etc.?
The game does not explain or have tutorials for ANY of this for beginners! 😡. Can't we just have a simple mode kind of like 2k21 except a somewhat usable UI?
Play the turorial, it explains pretty much all gameplay wise. The other stuff is also introduced to you by the game if you play it. Smh, are you a former mobile gamer that you have no clue at all ? Pretty much seems like it.
This game is unplayable. Not fun at all. Why make a game nobody has fun playing honestly worst golf game ever 😂😂😂😂😂
