    As a divorced father, I was always VERY upfront about my ex and my kids. I feel my kids are such an important part of my life, it’s a huge part of me. About what you said: that being upfront shrinks my dating pool… that’s exactly why I was upfront about it. I didn’t want to date anyone who wasn’t okay with it, and I wasn’t about to trick someone into falling for me and then spring my kids on them when they were hooked. Luckily, I found an amazing woman who loves me for everything I am and I couldn’t be happier.

But it's 100% something you NEED to say way earlier. While it makes your dating pool "smaller" it also sorts out people like you (not like you're bad or sth but you're just not in a place in your life where you wanna date a Dad which is fine). He wasted both of your times by not mentioning it earlier. Your time as you thought he was a solid attractive dude that could work out but eventually won't cause he's a dad and his cause he looked at a cute girl got his hopes up only to then get shut down cause she isn't interested in dating a dad. That is what we need, more honesty and transparency. How else can you learn to trust or love a person if they feel the need to tip toe around subjects in order to show off some kind of imaginary persona? Be real, be transparent and don’t hide anything, hiding things misleads yourself into the wrong person and misleads the other person to believe they might like someone that isn’t that individual. If you want to find the right person for yourself, be honest with every person you come in contact with until you eventually run into the one that actually vibes with you in a very real sense. That is how you find the one that loves every part of you and vise versa. Otherwise you are falling in love with something that is simply a figment of your imagination...

    Yeah, honestly it's not that I don't like the idea of having kids or dating someone who has, but I do believe that I'm still too young to handle that responsibility at this point in life. And I also think he was too young to have an ex wife and two kids if I'm honest. So I completely understand Pokimane, and I would've done the same in her position. Like, I'm still in my 20's I don't know how to handle dating a girl with children xD. Specially like she said, he didn't seem to prioritize them enough to be upfront about them, but said everything about his business. And yeah, he does hide that fact xD.

This was intersting to watch and I hope she shares more stories like this in the future. :)

  • @PRBroken
    @PRBroken 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I think its perfectly normal to continue chatting until the day of the date, so that you can get to know the person you are meeting for the first time.
    You want to try to see if you get serial killer vibes before the actual date lol, so you can then cancel if need be. Be respectful tho when cancelling and try to do it with advanced notice because the other person did make room in their schedule for that day(unless its a serious last minute red flag).
    It's probably your lack of "dating experience" that gives you the "too eager" vibes.
    It would have been a show of immaturity/lack of confidence/anxiety if he didn't message you before the actual date and would be your first red flag(warning). With that said, we don't fully know the exact frequency of the messages that were sent.
    To be honest some guys don't even mention it until several dates later which I feel is another red flag. Waiting until the first date to mention it is normal because they first want to know if you're even worth sharing this information. They may find they don't like you and want to keep their information to themselves.
    A kid is not an easy subject to bring up because there are people who think/know they don't want to be with someone who already has kids and don't even try to get to know a person. As you said it decreases their dating pool.
    The more you step out of your comfort zone, the more you'll learn about yourself and learn what you like and don't like. It's great that you know you aren't ready to be in a relationship that involves children because it involves a lot more responsibility and maturity.
    Anyway, just sharing a perspective you may or may not have already read/known about. Hope it helps you or anyone else reading.

    Dating is hard, but it's easier when one is being honest. I love my nephew to death and I put on my profile that I love him to death and I say while I'm not his father I am still so proud of every milestone he has. He is a big part of my life now and has lead me to the decision of wanting kids in the future. Maybe not right away but definitely some day.
