    I’m one of two minds on this proposed film. As a massive fan of Lussier and Farmer’s slasher work together (MBV3D and Trick), the script and what the two have said about this movie always cemented in my mind they wanted to make a brutal fun theatrical experience with the Halloween IP, and judging by the time this movie would’ve released, I feel the franchise might’ve needed that.
    I get it - going from two very serious toned films like Rob Zombies films and moving into something schlockier and over the top would’ve been a stark contrast to the two films before it. But as you mentioned, box office performance on H2 showed that there was an obvious leap for “course correction” going to be taken. Like as much as I love this franchise, it’s the ones where you don’t take them seriously that are the most fun, or the ones I constantly find myself wanting to watch the most if that makes any sense. Yeah each film has some serious note to them, but the idea of a silent masked killer surrounded by the cast and “story” the ancillary characters go through is often the same song and dance. A) Michael is unstoppable on Halloween B) you must survive the night with Michael and or kill him C) hope he doesn’t come back. Yeah this movie would’ve fit that mold sure, but a lot of bold differences in the franchise found in the script showed that this movie was going to offer a different experience, one of which I would’ve loved to see happen on camera. Maybe bringing back SCT and TM was putting a wrench between Zombies movies fans, and the expectations the film would’ve have surely soured for them, but I feel at the time there just weren’t enough of them, and still aren’t till this day. So I can appreciate what Farmer and Lussier were going to do.
    What’s interesting is that Farmer and Lussier hinted that they actually did in fact have the green light to make it, but rather waiting around for funds to make the movie, they went ahead and made Drive Angry, the second film in the duos “trilogy” of films they made together. When that movie didn’t succeed at the box office, supposedly it made the Weinsteins reevaluate priorities. However, as you said, they were still attached to the project and their script before the Weinsteins folded the company. There’s a little more to the story but the point is, the “right time” never happened for the film.
    On the inverse side, I can totally understand being thankful it was never made. I’m assuming marketing would’ve tried hard to push that it was a follow up to Zombies films, which probably would’ve spelled disaster to fans pissed at Zombies films. However, 3D films were still pulling in decent box office returns, which means teenagers and younger adults were paying the profits. I think they could’ve made some money if not more than Halloween II off the gimmick alone, but then again, there’s this stigma with late 2000’s horror films having 3-D, and while I think MBV3D is easily the best movie of that gimmick/time period and insanely overhated (it’s one of my favorite slashers), I feel the Halloween fans would just bash it today off the gimmick alone. We don’t know what edits could’ve been made or tweaked during production, nor we have any final product to base any assumptions off (only the script), but I feel even if the film was fun, Michael focused, and carnage candy galore it wouldn’t have changed that much of perceptions then or even now sadly. We don’t need another movie for Halloween purists to dunk on, and to divide the fan base lol.
    IMO, Halloween 3D was probably next to Halloween: Retribution as the two Halloween films that were “a shame they never were made,” because I dig what could’ve come out of them.
    Anyways, great video Nick! Happy New Year!

      I also think Halloween Returns was a very solid idea too, and I would’ve loved that one! I think Farmer and Lussier’s style absolutely have a place in the genre, there’s no doubt about it. And selfishly, I would’ve loved to have seen Scout and Tyler back. I love their portrayals of each character. But I get every point you made, and I certainly wouldn’t have been complaining if it happened lol
      Happy new year to you too my friend!

    I would've loved to see his third movie. I'm the type of person that loves supernatural, and undead, leading into the worthless strong human of the DGG trilogy. Just an old withering former version of himself. I can't believe John Carpenter actually gave him the go ahead to make that trilogy. As far as giving him the reigns to starting another trilogy.

    I'm happy that Halloween 2 was an ending for the Rob Zombie story arch,I feel a third film would have betrayed the ending of Halloween 2, especially the directors cut. Along with the direction of this third film would have been out place in context with the previous two films.

      I would've love to see them undo Rob Zombie's things & bring Michael Myers back to his original roots in the 3rd film.
      Ever heard of Stef Hutchinson's Halloween 3D script, well script was going to take place after RZ Halloween 2 Director's Cut and it was going to take a Michael vs Brackett (Brad Dourif) angle, since Laurie died at the end of the Director's Cut, and in that script Stef Hutchinson was going to have Michael Myers get a new set of coveralls and a new emotionaless pale iconic mask and was going to smarter and going to be able to drive a car just like in the original 1978 film, as the Michael Myers in Stef Hutchinson's 3D script was going to be more like in the original 1978 film, undoing all of Rob's stuff, which would have been a huge step up in those terms even if you both don't agree, plus it was going to be a movie where Michael keeps hurting Brackett psychologically, going after another family loved one of Brackett's and achieving that goal by creating a divergence and finally getting to Alice Brackett and tying her up a bondfire thing setting it on fire, to then have her scream in agony as she slowly burns to a crisp t the end, thus Michael Myers watching and tilting his head as he sees Alice Brackett burn, thus saying evil has won again, this further hurting Lee Bracket mentally. Which Stef's script was going to be hybrid version of Carpenter & Rob Zombie, that would have been awesome to see, but sadly Stef Hutchinson was not all enamored by his awesome 3D script, so it's sad we will never get a continuation & correction to Rob Zombie's Halloween 2, but anyways thankfully we got Halloween 2018, which follows John Carpenter's 1978 film, so I can't complain there, Michael Myers was finally this mysterious embodiment of evil "The Shape" and not some typical mentally ill serial killer with a terrible uninteresting backstory like in Rob Zombie's Halloween 2007.

    I read the script.......I REALLY wanna see this movie now. Just brutal Michael fucking shit up, reminding me of the opening dream sequence of Zombie's H2 which is so awesome. The homage to Season of the Witch would have been amazing as well, better than just seeing the masks in Kills. Ends was supposed to end with the Silver Shamrock factory making the masks suddenly start spitting out Michael masks but the director said he didn't think enough ppl would understand the refence and since it wasn't going anywhere decided to cut it. I also really wanna see Michael's face melted to his H2 mask, that would be an amazing visual. Plus, him in the clean new mask from the child part of H1 for an entire movie would also be amazing to see. Sucks we never got this. And even if it sucked, who cares it's more Michael. We still would have gotten the new Trilogy as it was well over a decade between H2 and H 2018 so Halloween 3d existing could only ever be a good thing, no matter how good(or bad) the movie ended up being.

  • @BaldyJack
    @BaldyJack 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Honestly, it would’ve came out at such a weird time, and the 3D gimmick was getting repetitive. Especially with Texas Chainsaw 2013. I do like the idea of how Myers would get a new mask.

    • @thehalloweenheavymetalwarrior
      @thehalloweenheavymetalwarrior 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Him getting a new mask would have made a lot of sense. Unless you wanted him with his old mask melted to his face seemingly almost maskless, which would have been stupid and not creepy at all, Patrick Lussier & Todd Farmer would have been right at that point in giving him a new mask that closely resembles the 1978 film one. And I also love the fact they were going to have his hobo beard be burned off, returning Michael Myers back to his original look again, not that the movie would have been good, but atleast the Michael Myers character played by Tyler Mane would have been improved resembling a closer to the original 1978 film's look.

      The Weinstein Company was already $500 million in the hole when they formed and they had $700 million in equity which both Weinstein’s blew through, which pulled the financial success of Inglorious Bastards under water. So no, Halloween II didn’t almost bankrupt The Weinstein Company, nor did Inglorious Bastards save the The Weinstein Company from bankruptcy. The Weinstein brothers managed that on their own, which is why the company declared bankruptcy in 2018.

    I hate to say this, but I was happy when the idea of this movie was rejected. Because I’m sorry, but the idea of a 3-D Halloween movie is just awful. I’m glad the sequel never got made, and Rob Zombie should stay the fuck away from the Halloween franchise forever. And honestly, I think it’s time for the franchise to die because there’s nothing more to do. It’s been done already. Michael Myers is dead once and for all, and Laurie strode got the ending that she should have got after she cut his fucking head off in H2O. Just like of how it’s time for other franchises to die but of course Hollywood is not gonna do that because if there’s one thing, Hollywood just cannot do these days anymore is be original. I mean think about it they went that route with the Texas chainsaw massacre with Texas chainsaw 3-D, and guess what nobody liked it, it failed so what would the idea of making Halloween 3-D any different? it would make no difference the film would suffer the same box office as failure that Texas chainsaw 3-D suffered.

    You and I do not see Rob Zombie’s Halloween II the same. I really wanted Halloween 3D. When it was announced, I was looking forward to it. Todd and Pat did such an amazing job with My Bloody Valentine 3D, that I could not expect anything less from a Halloween 3D. I was hoping for it to be a soft reboot in a sense. It could pick up with Zombie’s films left off but not reference then or be like them. I literally wanted My Bloody Valentine 3D with Michael Myers, basically Halloween Kills in 3D. If that occurred in 2015, we still could have gotten the DGG trilogy and everyone wins. But, Harvey had to go and be Harvey and that’s that.

The doctor turning evil was embarrassing contrived nonsense, Laurie was ruined with the really forced trauma thing (donw way better in Rob Zombie Halloween II) that didn't make sense in this timeline, she goes to kill Michael on the bus with a pistol but later has an absurd cartoon logic 10 million dollar deathtrap all based on the one in a million chance michael somehow ends up in that exact (of course the hackneyed plot makes sure he does). Bad acting, horrible kills and old man myers is lame and just a worse version of the remake one. Kills was all that on steroids, the evil dies tonight nonsense, the insane survivor gathering, the cringy baseball bat and turning Michael from a dangerous visceral killer into somebody who the plot warps around to make people die like the car door gunshot kill, instead of him feeling dangerous he's like a robot that just causes people to die randomly.
