OSN had a chat with Hans the other day, and Hans said that this was anniversary gift to the international fans, and that the next album would be in german again (and that they were already passing ideas around). By the way between Feuerschwanz and d'Artagnan, Ben will have released 12 albums since 2016 when the next d'Artagnan album is released later this year.
The one part of this that I think needs mentioning is that Feuerschwanz is one of the few bands who have covered this song that have actually given credit to Miracle of Sound!!! so many of the covers have either assumed that its an actual old norse folk song and that its public domain or just plan not given credit. Gav(miracle of sound) actually thanked them for doing that on the offical video because he has had so many problems.
After how Gav felt with Peyton Parrish trying to pass the song off as his, I feel that this deserved at least one more cover where he was properly credited.
Never even heard of them before. I don't care what language it is... music in itself is THE Universal Language. They just made a new fan thanks to The Tank 🤘🔥🤘
I'm following Feurschwanz since 2010 and I will be very happy for them if they make a breakthrough internationally, but in all honesty I'm also missing the times were the released songs like Hurra hurra die pest ist da or Kinder im Geiste..😊
Feuerschwannz and associated acts just hit it out of the park with their covers every damn time. "May It Be", "I See Fire", this and also D'artagnan's cover of "Heroes" by David Bowie, and more besides.
When this cover came out, I though “I hope Tank’ll react to this” and for the past 2 weeks I’ve been waiting only to find out today, 2 weeks after you posted this vid, I see it. How in the bloody hell did miss this lol. Guten Tag!
I didn't think we needed another cover of this song. But after listening to it: Oh yes, we needed THIS cover of the song for sure. And yes, I pre ordered the album already. Looking forward for it. I would like some songs with a bit more humor from them (like in the past) and maybe a bit more fiddle in some, but overall, the band has improved over the last 20 years (and especially in the last few years I think) alot. I would say they are my favorite band right now together with Electric Callboy.
Tank I'm a huge wintersun fan. It was announced that wintersun just released their legendary demos and time 2 albums this month.i know that you have reacted to wintersun but it's been a while. I have some suggestions to react to to commerate this special occasion for wintersun. The first suggestion is wintersun steel of the gods legendary demos official video. Which jari released as a sample of what to expect for the wintersun legendary demos sound. The next is wintersun jari's favorite legendary demos riffs official video which just features just jari and up to four different guitars in the same video which he switches out to every song ! So watch these as soon as possible tank before jari takes another 20 years before he produces another album like the last one lol 🤣. Thank you keep on rocking .wintersun Alex🤘❄️
I always enjoy bands more when they're singing in their native language instead of English, no matter if it's German, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Spanish, French, Russian, Italian etc etc. If they first sing in their native language and then start to do English, I feel like they're selling out. If they immidiately start with English, as a non-English speaking band, they really have to get me on board with the music or I don't like them immidiately.
I am so sad, I had a ticket for this weekend. I am still so sick (for a week now), I had to go to the hospital last weekend. Now I gave my ticket to a friend of my friend for cheap and I am still coughing and heaving a hard time breathing ...
For the Records. Feuerschwanz and other medieval bands dont make english songs for the american market. The core audience are other european countries with an medieval scene and an strong metal szene like Scandinavia, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania and so on.
Hey Tank, could you react to DOMINUM. Saw them in Berlin before Feuerschwanz and Ordan Ogan. They quickly became on of my favourite bands and I think you would love them too.
they are cute as an opener, but thats about it. Nothing original, and no special skills in vocals or instruments. a typical before sunset band for festivals.
This isnt too bad. I just cant get into bands like this because of how cheesy it is. Either way, loved the reaction, liked the song. Keep on keeping on.
I dunno .. since Ben kinda "took over" with the general band direction and style .. i don't like them that much anymore. Had more fun with this band in "the old days when Peter was the lead"
I'm English, and love Feuerschwanz, especially because they do so much in German - but you are correct, we in the UK, and I dare say English-speakers in the USA (present company excepted), are terrible at accepting songs written in other languages. I hope this album gets the guys and gals more of the recognition they deserve outside of Germany. On a side note, I'm still singing along to Valhalla after the Blind Guardian gig last Saturday :)
They just need to have English subtitles on their videos to catch the US audience, seeing how many are now willing to watch dubbed anime and korean dramas.
For me, as a marginally decent speaker of US of NA English, I just look up the lyric translation, or do it myself. If the music pricks my interest, and the lyrics resonate with something in me (and aren't super weird or crazy), the spoken language doesn't matter.
I'm also English and a massive fan of both feaurshwanz and D'artagnan first song I heard was Ding been hooked ever since (and the fact I have a wee crush on much musch has nothing to do with it 😂)
I absolutely love them singing in German (and Svbway to Sally), but I do sadly agree that they just won't "hit" it internationally, especially in the US, without being in English. (And I get tired of people hearing me play them and going "Is that Ramstein?" 🤣)
I had never even heard of these guys until like a week ago. But after just hearing this song I had to pre order the new album! So happy that they decided to put it in all English.
Can confirm this, I saw them perform it live last week, it was literally their most recent single but the crowd just went wild as if it was their greatest hit that everybody just knows🤘
I had the pleasure to see them live just last Friday. Let me tell you it was something else when the whole venue sung the chorus. I still prefer the original MoS Folk version but this here is pretty close. Gav created a Timeless masterpiece with that song that sadly not a lot of cover version give him credit for. Also I'm not sure if it was due to the recent international popularity or because it was in Berlin, Germany but I did see a couple of non Germans during the concert. And I'm not speaking of the usual Turkish people you see a lot in Germany. It even went so far that Hodi/Ben made some announcements in English Speaking of Miracle of Sound. Have you listen to the song he did with The Charismatic Voice?
"Did We REALLY Need Another Cover Of [Valhalla Calling]?" I never heard the original, so, maybe this'll be a glorious new find for me! Anyway, as always, I hope you're well, Tank.
The original is excellent. It's hilarious to me that so many are convinced it is a song off the Assassin's Creed OST and not an original song. Well done by Miracle of Sound
Had the same reservations about this one. Damn...now I have to go to the original channel just to give them credit. That was actually awesome. Thanks Tank...you reminded me of not being judgemental before hearing something. Talking about...we (ok...I do) need your reaction to Finsterwacht and Schwarzer Strand.😉 And if you could point Elisabeth towards both, that would be a treat 😁👍

I don't think we necessarily need another cover of Valhalla Calling. But if you're a German metal band specifically trying to break into the English-speaking market, it's a really good choice for a single.

Let's get real: this is one of teh few cases where a cover is FAR better than the original. (Much like Joe Cocker with "Unchain my heart"). And I like it more than the original for _exactly_ the same reason that @miracleofsound has stated to like the cover; the double time chorus. They should do more in English. 🤫 I saw them at Summer Breeze and everything they did in German was actually really embarrassing. The Warriors of the World cover is also really bad. So, all in all, Valhalla Calling is the only song that really impressed me. 🤐
Really like this cover. I hadn't heard of this band before so thank you so much for introducing me to them. However, going back to the "do we need another cover of this?" bit - I think that probably there are more covers of Iron Maiden's The Trooper (though to be fair some of them are really good, particularly Esprit D'Air's, featuring Ben Christo and Tim Owens, and Nemophila's), unless of course you are referring specifically to medieval metal. [Edit: Just watched their cover of Abba's Gimme, Gimme, Gimme - this band are fantastic]
I only listen to Feuerschwanz their English songs, but the ones I heard I absolutely love! So finding out that they released an English album is amazing!
Feuerschwanz attended 70,000 Tons of Metal this year. Sad I missed the boat. But they have at least been on that side of the Atlantic. 🙂 But they don't really tour outside of Germany. Sadly I discovered them the year after they played Wacken, so I was at Wacken when they played but never heard of them so I missed them. 😅
I do like the instrumentals, but the vocals don't really do it for me. Their voices don't really do the lyrics justice. The same with the whole "Hey brother" song. The instrumentals was great, but the dudes voices kind of ruins the songs for me.
Awesome band, saw them live a couple weeks ago here in my hometown. Went with my daughter, she has a huge crush on Ben (who is the lead singer of D'Artagnan)
For their 20th anniversary they should have made an album containing old songs that got the "new Feuerschwanz" makeover, not just take their latest songs and sing them in English, i hate that this band is slowly loosing it's soul
I liked this cover a lot. Really nice guys too, I approve 👍
:)
no one will ever beat the original one. my personal opinion🫶🏻
Eh. Could have stopped with the covers after you and Peyton Perrish collabed. Song of your other songs deserve attention too. Still waiting on Colm McGuiness to do Cu Chulainn

And we can never thank you enough for the original of this song. \m/

Awaken your inner Viking!
What inner Viking? Unless your're Danish or Norwegian, you have neither inner, nor outer Viking.
I would love to watch the entire band performing as a group instead of the quick cuts but finale is amazing
Feuerschwannz and associated acts just hit it out of the park with their covers every damn time. "May It Be", "I See Fire", this and also D'artagnan's cover of "Heroes" by David Bowie, and more besides.
Hans Platz solo, is that like calling the Sabaton key change?
While not familiar with other covers, this one checked all the boxes.
The Viking entering Valhalla is Igor D. Górewicz... He was also a Viking in the music videos of Amon Amarth and Manowar! Hail Igor \m/
Im honestly surprised that Gavin (MoS) didn't appear at the table at the end...would have been a sick easter egg.
