People excuse it because "sales tactic" but "you CAN'T say no" is 100% different from "be persistent/dont give up". Especially when other people are involved. It's already harassment.
So dumb people are willing let Mr. Beast slide like he's some small youtuber. Bro's a tv show disguised as a youtuber at this point and has literal company, he needs to be held accountable.
He's not even a TV show at this point. He reached TV network size years ago. Most large creators already make productions the size of traditional broadcast with far more views and revenue than traditional, and Mr. Beast is at the top of that. There's no way he didn't understand or not know what he was doing, he's far too smart to pull the ignorance defense.
I remember when jacksepticeye said that mr beast ruined youtube and I have and will continue to stand by that exact statement. Mr beast took his youtube to a fully corporate level where now it’s just such an ick.. compared to someone like Markiplier who’s brand is just dedicated to his interests, passions, and himself/friends. jimmy built himself up on giving away to charity and giving away to fans… So faking that is faking his entire brand like mark lying about his personality. As someone who was born in 01, and raised by my millennial sister, I absolutely have awful stories about things that happened online and we have a responsibility to hold people accountable rather than just turning a blind eye and being complacent. (and a side note omg your hair 🥰🤌🏻 its giving goddess and i need you to know how ethereal you look)
@dani5165 yea it's so sad cus I really commended him for his work I always had a soft spot for philanthropy n stuff so this was just devastating 😭 I think in thw beginning he really was focused on helping ppl but as he got bigger he went the corporation route, and I think that clouded the original vision he had, just my theory tho. And thank u for the hair compliment! When I got it done I actually had mixed feelings about it but I think I grew into it now lol
@@Kaysaja You should look up how much was faked, wasn't actually that helpful, is falling apart, or was undermined by him doing stuff like selling single-use plastics while saying how bad they were while cleaning the oceans. Also selling NFT's of the ocean clean-up stuff which creates pollution.
Jackspedicy is one of the good ones and I remember y'all did him dirty when he called out MrBeast and even Pewdiepie in the past. Both of them turned out to be pieces of sh*t.
You have genuinely changed my mind about this. I was in the "I never liked Mr. Beast" camp but also found most of the criticism of his videos being fake to just be jumping on the drama train. My thoughts were "it's just reality TV, everyone knows that's fake." Without really considering that a) with an audience of mostly young kids of course the majority of his audience would believe him uncritically, and b) if even one person believed him that should be enough to be upset that he lied. Thank you for this video!
@@Molly-iw1rcI honestly think that’s on purpose. No other celebrity has had private listening parties at their home with fans. It’s also the reason so many mega fans will defend everything she does, they believe it could be a stepping stone to them being friends with her. Sorry I went on a tangent, Taylor Swift business practices really fascinates me
@@every4th especially now with how she's being unwillingly roped into politics-- or her brand is rather-- despite being to my understanding more forthcoming about her personal politics in the past.
@cowestgirl3746 she was advised by her team not to talk politics since she started out in country and had more democratic views rather than republican. If you think that shouldn't matter, look at what happened to the Dixie Chicks for speaking out against the bombing of Iraq. I get why taylor went pop, people were putting views on her that she didn't have only because she literally couldn't talk about them or she'd lose her career. So she got labeled as the face for white supremacy - not even kidding.
You hit the nail on the head! People are defending what they see as Jimmy and not the brand Mr Beast. Can you imagine if people defended Amazons issues if Bezos was more of the face of the company and they ignored big issues just because they liked him? If Jimmy wasnt the brand itself there'd be so much more outrage. I think whats additional frustrating to me and isnt being talked about more is Mr Beast clearly targets children. People brushing it off as just "drama" arent considering how troubling it is that parents are probably unaware Mr Beast knowingly employed a registered sex offender. Thats not just petty drama that is serious especially because so many parents are trying their best to keep their kids safe online. Add to that the Kris Tyson allegations. Why are we all more willing to protect a multi millionare and his company than literal children?
I think that the predatory marketing to kids is one worst things he has done parents need to be aware of the media they are watching now more than ever
For a comparison that works without using money. You're invited to a new funfair style park. All rides are free. All food is free. At the end of the night, you're going to receive a present that is amazing beyond your wildest dreams. Excited for this prize and for the day out, you and your friends go to this park. The rides are amazing. The food is delicious, and you're hyped. You're excited for the present, because all the other claims were true and correct. You reach the exit and the guy opens the door. you ask about the gift. He simply shakes his head. "Sorry. We dont' actually have a gift for you." You had a great time. You enjoyed yourselves.. but.. that missing gift? It's still going to leave a sour taste in your mouth. The rides were great but... were they *that* great? The food was amazing.. but.. was it? Did you really enjoy it? Or did you just think it was because you were excited for the gift you never actually received? You feel lied to and betrayed. Your memories of that day have been tainted and now you no longer fully believe that you actually had a great time because the last memory you had of it was lies and deceit. What have you actually lost? You didn't pay for anything. You only spent your time there. You still feel betrayed. Now going further into this, because watching Mr Beast might be free, but his merchandise isn't. So now you've brought something from him that you brought under a belief of a set of principles he gaves. That he's authentic. That he doesnt' fake anything. You've shown off your merch to your friends bragging about the fact that you have a T-shirt signed by Mr Beast himself. Or just that you have something that is linked to that TH-camr that is fully authentic. Then you find out that your T-shirt wasn't signed by Mr Beast. It was signed with his name by one of his crew members. You find out that you've been unknowingly lying about the fact that he never fakes anything... In this scenario we now have the funfair, but instead of everything being free, you are now charged for the food. Not much maybe. But does it taste just a little more common? A little more like standard sub par fair food? Probably. Now you've wasted money too. This is why the fact he has lied is a big deal. At least in my books.
We evolved a trust-based society, and then somehow we have besmirched and cheapened it, our most precious commodity so that some can pretend to be elevated above their fellow humans. Good one, humanity!
bad analogy. ifk about you but if that happened to me id just go like "well dang, guess they ran out." then go home happy because i had a free day and free food at an amusement park. hell even if i knew it was a lie from the start i still got free shit from it. like finding out the random gift for free someone gave you was only pretty good instead of the unbelieveable claim of goodness they promised isnt a negative. also its a bad analogy because his videos arnt even that fun
If you're going to present yourself as an "ethical, nice guy youtuber" and you get caught lying, of course your fanbase/public opinion might turn on you. But lying about his vids was honestly the least controversial thing about Jimmy. He basically endangered and tortured people, he hired predators. His willingness to fake content is probably just a clue that everything about him is fake. The people going "what's the big deal that this powerful, privileged person deceived less fortunate people?" are naive.
every time i watched a video reacting to the allegations i end up getting so upset when people are like, “so what if he lied”. Why is he lying in the first place 😭, there was even this one girl that blamed somebody who bought shirts (i assume she’s young i’m not sure) from one of the illegal lotteries. Lying should be a red flag to people 🚩🚩🚩🚩
Compliancy being the norm on TH-cam is definitely a bad trend that I've noticed as well but couldn't put words to. This was a great way to frame these issues
This is a great video. It's very annoying to read that the common acceptance is that people fake videos. We understand this is a given because we're adults. In a vacuum, a raccoon being a paid actor is totally superfluous. When you introduce more context, such as this guy saying he doesn't fake videos, defending obvious usage of CG, and his awareness that his target market is children who aren't capable of picking up on the context clues that adults are, all these charitable acceptances his adult audience makes just because he plants a tree here or there start to seem more consequential.
its so sad when people say ''out of everything good he did you focus on the one bad thing'' BECAUSE THE BAD THING OUTWEIGHS THE GOOD ???? Even if mr beast isnt a pedo himself, chris tyson and ''delaware'' ARE and HE ASSOCIATES with them. He is just as bad as a pedo.
I saw a clip where Jimmy is flat-out saying Chris had already moved out, and right there behind Jimmy on the wall is the pedo Shadman poster. He kept the freaking pedo poster.
every single time people would defend mrbeast because "Him planting wells in african country is better than nothing!" meant they were conflating his charity with the ethics or politics or hell even morals of a person and we have enough rich people to show how wrong that is.
The honesty for a TH-cam channel is iffy because there are many reasons why people might not be upfront about things. Safety. Entertainment etc However that gets a bit blurry once you’re big enough to produce large scale productions and the people signing on are using your video as reasons they would work with you. Like the Netflix thing. A challenge before the challenge is not what they signed up for. You also can’t give informed consent for being tortured - that’s life changing.
Oooh ya know what that's an interesting perspective, we do advertise creators in a way with our support. if you don't mind, could you elaborate a little more on that, like what would it mean for us to be a product in terms of for the youtubers? I'd love to hear more of your thoughts
@@Kaysajai assume what they mean is that our attention is being sold by youtubers to advertisers via ads both in video and youtube ad breaks which gain the youtuber ad revenue and the advertisers product awareness. we are the product in that our attention and how that results in eyes on adverts is the commodity that makes youtubers most of their income. it’s a commodification of attention in the same way that platforms like instagram and facebook sell both our attention and our data, but as individuals, youtubers only function as the enticement to retain our attention. the set up of instagram and facebook ads centralises advertising income where youtube distributes it among creators. at least that how i interpreted the comment
@@Kaysaja in the end we don’t pay them, the advertisers do. The TH-cam business model isn’t X Views= X Money for creators. It’s X Views=Possible corporate interest in buying access to manipulating those viewers into buying their products=Y Money, Y being dependent on how much they think your influence can make viewers spend. Advertisers are eager customers, access to manipulating us is the product they’re buying. The natural result is that if it’s between doing what’s best for corporations vs viewers, creators essentially either pick A) the ones paying their salary or B) internet points, but no income Sometimes internet points gives you views, but if you get de-monetized that makes no difference. The incentives are entirely one-sided. Creator value is based on how much their advertisers think they’re worth, not their viewers. I think Dogpack actually went into how this is especially scary with Mr Beast. He has extremely young viewers with content that is extremely focused on material goods and how gaining them will change your life and make everything better. He’s basically setting adolescent brains up for Products=Happiness aka advertisers wet dream and why he’s so valuable to TH-cam. He’s capitalism’s wildest dream. Corporations get to pay some guy and in exchange millions of children are brainwashed into honestly believing that winning a contest is what they should aspire to. When they dream at night of a better life, it’s not about studying to achieve career goals, finding love or just your family eating meals together - it’s about crossing their finger to hope that he gives them 10.000 dollars, so they can finally be happy. They’ll get the new PlayStation, a Tesla and a brand new phone and all the sad will go away. Their brains have been wired to understand that as the recipe for a good, worthy, happy life. And that wiring is the product that advertisers are buying from TH-camrs.
The whole situation is kind of a continuation of the metoo movement but more broad, it originally was focused more on Hollywood and traditional celebrities being terrible to women and has expanded to become more about content creators as a whole and includes other victims as well(people who get scammed, male victims of SA, children exploited for views, etc), we're in an era of recognition that just because you're famous doesn't mean you're off the hook for bad behavior. As sucky as it is to see all these things come out it's also a positive that people are opening their eyes and recognizing abuse and exploitation when it happens.
This isn’t new. The earliest wave I remember was a decade ago with the outing of many popular and influential British music TH-camrs as sexual predators. It’s just moving through communities.
Another thing that springs to mind is that the algorithm serves up more of anything that seems to hold your attention. If you’re contented with videos that are loud and flashy, then you’re going to be presented with more of the same, over and over. The algorithms goal is to hold your attention so you spend more time engaging with the site. When I first started using TH-cam, I only went to the site to find answers to really specific questions. How to …, why…, where to find…, etc. it was just a tool. Over time my curiosity has drawn me into viewing a wider assortment of videos, and I have noticed that the algorithm simply can’t discern precisely what it is that holds my attention. The videos I am suggested are far more random, and frequently just not something that I want to engage with. I hadn’t given it much thought, but I find it tends to miss the mark with more subtle elements like style and tone. I sometimes subscribe to a channel just to let the software serve up more of that creator’s videos, but it seems that the more random those choices seem, the harder it is for the software to actually serve up videos that hold my interest. Because of that, I find myself sampling more and more completely random videos that aren’t interesting, which makes my suggestions feed less and less useful. That’s gotten me back in the habit of reducing the number of subscriptions I have so the site becomes less a source of random entertainment, and more a tool that helps me find answers to my questions. It’s a never ending loop because that’s what keeps people engaged with the site and available to watch commercials, the actual purpose of the site. What does this mean to me? It means I need to remain vigilant and skeptical every time I visit, always.
Being a millionaire really doesnt require all that much in todays economy bc money is losing its value. Millionaires are nowhere near being the problem
Do you mean the colloquial term millionaire or the actual meaning of a millionaire? There’s a huge disconnect and unhealthy obsession on hating your better off neighbors. I work at a bank and there’s millionaire janitors and maintenance workers because they’re smart with money but that doesn’t fit the colloquial idea of millionaire. It doesn’t take much to be a millionaire these days and there’s lots of great honest wealthy people that just keep to themselves.
I appriciate this video. I feel like a lot of the comments and responses I've been seeing to these types of allegations against Mr. Beast is "it's not criminal so who cares" and I think that really misses the point. The point of bringing attention to these allegedly fake videos isn't to start a lawsuit, it's because people should know when they are being lied to. It also just adds to the overall picture. There are pretty serious accusations of wrongdoing against Jimmy, and knowing he's not authentic or willing to be immoral in smaller things lends credibility to the idea that these more serious claims could be true.
Saying you must be this literate in broadcasting and editing techniques to enjoy an entertainment medium is wild. It’s absolutely manipulative but it seems worse than that. It’s victim-blaming for the lack of education, lack of regulations, lack of ethics we’re all bound by. Also, I have seen a lot of journalists, writers, and commentators complain when they waste customer goodwill away by being dishonest and people, correctly, stop trusting them. Their idea of the free speech and the free market gets completely warped to helping them and their friends specifically-no matter the cost to anyone else. So if you get disenchanted with an entire platform, professionals in the industry will start to blame you while telling you not to criticize their parent company, themselves, or their colleagues because you’re not a professional and you “don’t understand” and you could “cost people careers.” I’m seeing TH-camrs drift that way as well. It’s getting to the point where they expect you to do your own investigative journalism to understand an issue… instead of doing their jobs or just… telling the truth…? And it is entrenching common misinformation and literal propaganda in ways I think will be extremely difficult to uproot. Ethics and regulations are so important. EDIT: also thanks for calling the dishonesty out and not act like deception is the minimum and honesty is a premium. I really bristle at the idea that because the world is unfair, we should just accept it and move on.
... Yknow I'm really glad I have curated my algorithm to miss all of this, but also this is good to know and think about seperate from all the drama-farming. Thanks for making a video about it.
IMHO, contextually “being canceled” is a negative event, caused by righteous mob hysteria. It’s different when it’s legitimate consequences to actions. Mr Beast (brand and person) is not “ being canceled” they are being called to account. I think it’s important to make the distinction. (Edit to correct autocorrect)
wow, this is the first time I've heard about this situation from a business perspective! as someone working on their marketing degree, I really really enjoyed your take on this. you've earned a subscriber!
Been watching you since the Brandy Melville video and I just have to say, I love how levelheaded and insightful you are in these videos! I also love the way your hair is styled right now!
A few things: 1) if I'd bought a pretty gold bracelet and it turned out to be fake gold I'd be betrayed. But if I'd been informed up-front that it was only gold-colored, I'd be able to choose to buy the thing anyways, and I'd have a better time. 2) We can't forget that Mr. Beast's primary audience is children. Even if we adults are expected to "know better" than to believe anything/everything we see on the internet, how can kids be expected to??
Let's be real here. His target audience is children with no media literacy. A lot of these children did fully believe him. They wouldn't have watched him if they knew it was not real, because MrBeast's currency is shock value. If it's all fake, then the shock value drops and he becomes uninteresting. And sure, the same children will still.defend him. Sunken cost fallacy.
Can everyone just stop using "yeah but they give away loads of money" as some sort of excuse for poor behaviour? And also as reasoning to try and prove someones 'good'. Rich people giving away crap loads of money isn't them being an inherently good or moral person. For a start they get tax breaks, for another thing the amount of money they give away, equivelent to their actual value, is often the equiv of an average person donating like $10 or less. It's very easy to look generous when you have crazy amounts of money already. The worst part is these folk have to exploit oither people to get to this level of richness, and yet it rarely gets mentioned until something like this blows up.
I think this is a great point to make, why accept being lied to if they proclaim honesty. If they want to present fun falsehoods, they should embrace it like The Onion.
I'm glad someone is using the word customer, too many people default to consumer, I hate it, I avoid using it unless it's really apt. The authenticity matters a lot when knowing what videos he has faked, says a lot about the companies experience when they are putting together actual contests with people from his audience, which then turn out to be a disaster.
He’s a communal narcissist. Yeah he does good stuff because he gets supply from the admiration of the public. Like the character Langston Cobb in Futurama. I have always felt something was wrong with Mr Beast and I was waiting for the day it surfaced. And it has.
ik this is completely unrelated to the video, but your hairstyle is so amazing omg. It pleases my tiny artist eyes, I wanna draw you so bad, the different textures are so aesthetically pleasing. Keep slaying
i dont think people realize just how heavily regulated traditional media is and how massively unregulated youtube videos are. obviously you can at least somewhat trust traditional game shows, they have laws they need to follow to maintain integrity and fairness. its really easy to apply that same logic to youtubers especially with how much money mrbeast spends and makes in each video (apparently still not enough to hire good vfx artists) but he simply does not have to tell the truth in his videos. its not just making the time seem closer than it actually was and using a green screen like tv can get away with he actively rigs competition without the contenders (except for his close friends that he doesnt tell you are his friends) being in on it
with terms like “eat the rich” and “acab” basically becoming mainstream terms, it really makes me wonder if we ever made any progress if this many people are genuinely shocked a multi millionaire, almost billionaire, is not authentic and comically evil. like, seriously, what’s hard to believe about this?
good point, BUT should we just be accepting of this just because many millionaires are "comically evil"? I don't like the stereotype of saying that ALL rich ppl are like that of course, especially as someone who wants to build wealth myself, there's always a better way to do stuff. I think holding these ppl accountable when they do lie and take advantage of ppl is a great way to weed the bad ones out, rather than just being like, "well we know they're all like that anyway" and ignoring it. Just my opinion on it tho
@@Kaysaja i agree, i was not saying that it should be ignored or they shouldn’t be held accountable. im saying that when rosanna came out about her experience being *locked in a freezer* years ago, he should’ve been completely deplatformed then. parents need to stop just putting their children in front of screens bc they’re unknowingly helping these people build empires. we should be able to do more than just call people out. it needs to go offline and translate into our physical lives. voting and petitioning for certain rules and regulations to go into place. it makes absolutely no sense that he’s allowed to do this bc there are no enforced laws on this platform that protects youth and adults from being exploited. calling ppl out and holding them accountable is the first step of change, but we always stop there. cancel culture as we know it has been around for yearssss and we still haven’t moved on to the next step. ACTION. that’s why i’m like, have we gotten anywhere, fr? why is ANYONE shocked? why is no one’s first thought “wow, this is pattern behavior on this platform, what can we do to make sure this ACTUALLY doesn’t happen again?” rich people can get away with anything, that’s not shocking, and we should be doing so much more.
@@Kaysaja i don’t believe all rich people are like that. but every last one of us can be using our money in different ways and we simply don’t because it’s more comfortable to not. it’s more comfortable to forget about the elections and not complain about where our taxes are going and just accept that fact that rich people don’t have to pay taxes but can use our money for some shit like this. it’s almost as if 2020 never happened. their money is our attention, and we give them everything they need by just talking about it and moving on with our day. the convos should be paired with “and this is who you can contact to put pressure on changing this issue” but hell, do we know anyone but the ceo at youtube? he violated a military law, his employees are just used to sexual abuse and witnessing torture. to the point where’s it’s comical, bc we seriously just go “damn that’s crazy, unfollow him.”HE SHOULD BE IN JAIL. in medieval days this man would’ve been publicly executed, where is that ACTION?
@@Kaysaja sorry this is long winded, last comment. but youtube should have a union that is present on any production that has a budget of more than 10k at the minimum. LONG overdue. but the most they do even when logan paul showed a dead hanging man to millions of children is take away is assents and make a tweet. we settle for breadcrumbs. we settle for comically bad apologies we can shit on for a week and then continue to not take action. we need to stop doing that shit
Yea, a lot of ppl were saying the same thing with big youtubers who make these HUGE productions, without the guidelines of actually reality shows, they can get away with alot. And what's worse, is because they make youtube a lot of money and are basically their golden children, they're never gonna give them more but a slap on the wrist, just like sniperwolf smh
@@Vibepikodansha Well see the can move the money through charity organizations to be donations to friends and family. The money coming in/out won't be taxed as heavy if he's "cleaning" it through charities. Its something mobsters have been doing for decades. He plays nice guy but follows the finance advice of a mob boss. It'll catch up with him. Fixing a competition is illegal, and they only need one thing on the books to cease financial records
I only just started the video and just really quickly wanted to say your hair is gorgeous, like it's legit a work of art and I don't know how you did it but damn is it beautiful! Okay, gonna watch the actual video now but just wanted to say that.
Every Mr.Beast video is more akin to reality TV than a youtube video. This means that every video NEEDS to have an interesting enough story with interesting enough characters to draw and keep attention. The perfect example is that the video featuring Jimmy and co living on a raft NEEDS to convince the audience it's legit, otherwise it looses most of it's entertainment value. Anyways, you ate with the topic, the look, the presentation. 10's across the board, queen.
One thing I find is interesting is that Mr beast is by all objective merits the largest gameshow in the world. So the fact that he doesn't have to follow basically any competition based laws is crazy. But on the other end having a youtubers being liable to these kinds of laws would open a massive can of worms of when are you liable to these sorta things. It makes this whole Mr beast drama so adkward because the moment he is truly brought down all other youtubers will suffer due to a likely addpocalypse. Are we as a community willing to sacrifce our income for the sake of the integrity of the platform? As much as I want to say yes it's kinda difficult to answer that with all my heart.
all these youtubers and twitch streamers that would give shi to jeff bezos (which he deserves ) for un-ethical business practices yet with mr-beast they were like well i don't care about this and this and that part.
Havent even watched yet but i had to make water and breakfast to sit down and listen to THIS! ive been looking for someone that finalky says this because when Mr. Beast is so willing to lie about the small things, then what big things is he willong to lie about?
Somthing else I find important is that, “it’s obvious it’s fake it’s okay he lied” isn’t always - true?? If you can tell it’s fake- good for you that’s nice :)) But not everyone has that ability. I didn’t know Mr beast was fake. (I’ll be fair- I don’t watch him much anymore, but still- I didn’t know) There are people who are neurodivergent who may not have that ability to tell. I possibly have autism (getting final testing done soon yay!!!) and a lot of people on the spectrum tend to take things literally or may just- trust people. And also autistic people may be taken advantage of easier. Now I dint know as much about learning disabilities, but I imagine there could be people with a mental reason why they may lack some of the skill to tell that they are being lied to. And I think people like that aren’t dumb because of it. They should be considered as just as much as a customer as other people. Mr Beast has the responsibility to be honest. Even if it’s “obvious” It won’t be obvious to everyone.
Oh my god, fuckin thank you! I'm so tired of people blaming gullible individuals instead of the people that Are Lying, or when people turn it into a personal failing that they couldn't tell they were being lied to instead of, yet again, just holding the person who was being untruthful in the first place accountable (I could have lots more to say on the topic, I just have a tendency to let my sentences get away from and this would get wayyyyyyy too long)
I don't think pressuring especially low wage employees into doing something that could get them in trouble or fired is pretty immoral especially as a rich person or celebrity. No one wants to work at a dollar tree. It's because you are in a tight spot. They are notoriously abusive to employees plus the unlivable wages. My aunt works at one after her husband abandoned her and her special needs son.
Oh dollar tree is SO bad. I was gonna work there but my sister went and applied there and they wanted her to be the cashier , restocker, floor worker, and basically every job they have there for only 11 dollars an hour bro, she quit the next day 💀 but yea it's messed up the exploitation that goes on behind the scenes
i think if an individual person allows their company to break the laws of the Geneva Convention then that is much more of a problem than faking content. reminder that it Was mr. beast's company that broke those laws, and then they pretended that they didn't torture a human being for 100 days
I think I’ve curated my feed pretty well then because I have NO idea what’s been happening. I only came across this video when a student of mine was complaining about the drama, so I looked it up.
Mr Beast didn't donate to Charity it was the Companies who sponsored his videos who donated to Charity. Another Fact Mr Beast received Tax Credits for his "Donations". I am shocked that so many Adults are unable to understand Advertising tactics and manipulation in Marketing. This why it is so important for Parents to Parent their children. I still can't understand who the Audience of Mr Beast is? He is way too old for anyone under 16 years of age but way too silly for anyone over 20 years old😎💅🏿
When the "TH-camrs being terrible people" snowball started to roll, I had three channels I was CONFIDENT wouldn't get caught in it 1. Markipler 2. JackSepticEye 3. Mr Beast I don't watch Mr Beast but I was at least a little confident he was a good man doing this for entertainment mixed with genuine charity. It is a shame to say this list now only has two.
I blink for one month (exams) and suddenly there is a MICROPHONE!!! HUH NO DOES NOT MEAN NO??????????? These big challenge YTers always gave me Hunger Games vibes ... also remind me of that one old video of two women throwing coins to poor people like breadcrumbs to birds??
Its always pretty upsetting when ya learn about something gross or awful a youtuber has done and if they were someone I watched I just lose the ability to see their content seperate from them and those gross actions, but then see how it really didnt matter and theyre just gonna move past after it gets kicked under the rug. An example is Alpharad, used to like his second channel videos with his friends until the Super Smash Bros pdf ousting that happened and a player callrd Nairo was one of them and Alpharad was amoungst the people saying they had seen some magical google doc that removed the player Nairo from all wrongdoing and accountability, when he had inappropriate physical relations with a minor. Not only did none of this evidence ever come out, but it confuses me why people would act like someone who at any point thought it was alright to engage in that relationship should be allowed at in person tournaments for a game with a massive audience of kids and adults. If I remember correctly (althought I might be misremembering) the common defense for him was it wasnt his fault, that somehow the minor is the one at fault for blackmailing him into doing things, and I just dont think thats very valid and still justifies the guy not being allowed back at these tournaments with alot of kids that go.
It's astounding how preying on children is the first thing people do when they get famous! What died inside them and made it morally okay for them to do that when they're famous?! And what's with the masses supporting predators if they're famous or good looking?
Difference between a gold chain and a youtube video is not the physicality but the value transaction, if you buy a gold necklace you are buying likely solely for the gold of it, thus finding out that what has been sold is not the case, you would feel totally scammed. Whereas when one watches a youtube video, the purpose is only that of entertainment, none is watching MrBeast videos solely because they are real, so it is more akin to that of finding out when coke says it has zero calories/sugar what it really means is that it is low in calories or sugar. Certainly in the latter two cases it is not good to lie, but it is not really anything too surprising for this industry, and it doesn't actually undermine the value proposition of the video.

Taylor Swift is another great example of this. There’s Taylor swift the person and then there’s Taylor Swift the brand.
She often makes her brand personal though so it's a bit grey sometimes
@@Molly-iw1rcI honestly think that’s on purpose. No other celebrity has had private listening parties at their home with fans.
"Sorry. We dont' actually have a gift for you."
You had a great time.
I love this analogy
Definitely not “as bad as” as far as the evidence goes, but yes, he shouldn’t be making any content for children or employing teenage discord mods
every single time people would defend mrbeast because "Him planting wells in african country is better than nothing!" meant they were conflating his charity with the ethics or politics or hell even morals of a person and we have enough rich people to show how wrong that is.
when ppl say it’s okay to do all these things as long as you donate to charity just reminds me of the jimmy saville situation in the uk
The honesty for a TH-cam channel is iffy because there are many reasons why people might not be upfront about things. Safety. Entertainment etc
However that gets a bit blurry once you’re big enough to produce large scale productions and the people signing on are using your video as reasons they would work with you. Like the Netflix thing. A challenge before the challenge is not what they signed up for. You also can’t give informed consent for being tortured - that’s life changing.
The customers are advertisers. We are the product.
The natural result is that if it’s between doing what’s best for corporations vs viewers, creators essentially either pick A) the ones paying their salary or B) internet points, but no income
Sometimes internet points gives you views, but if you get de-monetized that makes no difference.

Oh wait, this channel is still 9k (o o;)

This year is so wild 😭😭
I feel like every year is tbh at this point I can't even begin to compare them 😭
Another thing that springs to mind is that the algorithm serves up more of anything that seems to hold your attention.

The authenticity matters a lot when knowing what videos he has faked, says a lot about the companies experience when they are putting together actual contests with people from his audience, which then turn out to be a disaster.

i dont think people realize just how heavily regulated traditional media is and how massively unregulated youtube videos are. obviously you can at least somewhat trust traditional game shows, they have laws they need to follow to maintain integrity and fairness. its really easy to apply that same logic to youtubers especially with how much money mrbeast spends and makes in each video (apparently still not enough to hire good vfx artists) but he simply does not have to tell the truth in his videos. its not just making the time seem closer than it actually was and using a green screen like tv can get away with he actively rigs competition without the contenders (except for his close friends that he doesnt tell you are his friends) being in on it
with terms like “eat the rich” and “acab” basically becoming mainstream terms, it really makes me wonder if we ever made any progress if this many people are genuinely shocked a multi millionaire, almost billionaire, is not authentic and comically evil. like, seriously, what’s hard to believe about this?
good point, BUT should we just be accepting of this just because many millionaires are "comically evil"? I don't like the stereotype of saying that ALL rich ppl are like that of course, especially as someone who wants to build wealth myself, there's always a better way to do stuff.

Donating to charity is what big corp has been doing since the dawn of time to seem more kind and human.
Off topic, but omg YOUR HAIR is INCREDIBLE! 🤩 I especially love your bangs
It’s not just TH-camrs, even celebrities outside of the internet are being exposed as awful humans like Lizzo Drake and P diddy

If you can tell it’s fake- good for you that’s nice :))
But not everyone has that ability.
I didn’t know Mr beast was fake. (I’ll be fair- I don’t watch him much anymore, but still- I didn’t know)
There are people who are neurodivergent who may not have that ability to tell.
Even if it’s “obvious”
It won’t be obvious to everyone.

Immersive translate would be great for subtitles. I definitely recommend it
thank u!! It's free too that's really helpful cus ion really have time to do it myself so this'll make things so much easier!
Girl be speaking facts! 👏🏿
Unrelated but YOUR HAIR IS SO CUTE.
Holy crap! Your viewship really exploded in just a few months! :) Congrats~ Also, I'm loving the new audio :)
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I am so happy someone FINALLY made a video about this aspect of it.
Unrelated but I love your hair!
i think if an individual person allows their company to break the laws of the Geneva Convention then that is much more of a problem than faking content. reminder that it Was mr. beast's company that broke those laws, and then they pretended that they didn't torture a human being for 100 days
Omg girl you need more views, glad for the mic! ❤
Love the hair and the content!
first time on this channel and that mic lmaooooo congrats
I think I’ve curated my feed pretty well then because I have NO idea what’s been happening. I only came across this video when a student of mine was complaining about the drama, so I looked it up.
this is off-topic from the video itself, but i love your hair!
Me: 2023 was the worst for drama, jeez I’m glad 2024 will be better.
2024: 💀
Mr Beast didn't donate to Charity it was the Companies who sponsored his videos who donated to Charity.
Another Fact Mr Beast received Tax Credits for his "Donations". I am shocked that so many Adults are unable to understand Advertising tactics and manipulation in Marketing. This why it is so important for Parents to Parent their children. I still can't understand who the Audience of Mr Beast is? He is way too old for anyone under 16 years of age but way too silly for anyone over 20 years old😎💅🏿
When the "TH-camrs being terrible people" snowball started to roll, I had three channels I was CONFIDENT wouldn't get caught in it
1. Markipler
2. JackSepticEye
3. Mr Beast
I don't watch Mr Beast but I was at least a little confident he was a good man doing this for entertainment mixed with genuine charity. It is a shame to say this list now only has two.
Freemason wedding.
@@justice8718 I'm sorry? I don't have the context to that statement?
@@Mx.Euphoria Look at their weddings and elders.
this is probably one of the most insightful videos. I’ve watched in a while. Thank you for your content❤
Please tell me you are majoring in journalism. We need you.
i care so little for mr beast that this is the first time ive been recommended a mr beast-related video 😭
Honesty mood
Drama never stops 🖤
This puts into words what I’ve been thinking for a while. Everyone thinks I’m taking it too serious, but honestly, it is kinda serious
Why can’t people just be normal
Ew, not Alpharad doing this! 🤮🤮
6:03 So, in other words, Mr. Beast's videos are mostly fake.
It's astounding how preying on children is the first thing people do when they get famous! What died inside them and made it morally okay for them to do that when they're famous?! And what's with the masses supporting predators if they're famous or good looking?
This title. Very relevant.
Power and money corrupts and I liked the video
It's the bangs for me great video
Comment for the algoritam. Amazing video and point of view on the situation and it needs to be heard.
I haven't watched the whole thing yet, but I'm dropping you a like just for that intro.
Glad someone finally points this ous.
First time viewer, good interesting thimbnails for your earlier vids, gonna sub and watch a couple once I'm done w this one.
Great vid! Totally agree & u articulated the points really well 👍 ❤
Interesthing video. Never seen this perspective before
Underrated gem ❤❤❤❤
EXACTLY. God I take more care in typing my stupid instagram stories for the 100 idiots who skip it, than so many of these big rich and capable creators. FFS.
Honestly I just have a community of TH-camrs that I’m pretty certain aren’t weirdos and who I watch and no one else.
it's funny, i actually haven't seen anything about mr beast on youtube until now! the only drama i've seen has been explained to me through tumblr posts
not sure how i managed to avoid all this
You've... avoided the mr beast drama?! You must be the chosen one of the algorithm 🙌🏾
