You guys, these are all of the items I have not shown you over the past couple of months with all of this holiday madness! I can't wait to get everything put in it's place, and have a fresh start in 2023!
That blue dress is gorgeous!
If I had to guess I'd say "Mom" took a ceramics class. Back in the day a lot of ladies fed their creative side by going to a ceramics class. They would pick out a mould, paint it, glaze it, and then the ceramics teacher would fire it for them. Many, many people would make one of those Christmas trees that everyone is salivating over now!
My grandma made one at the local senior ctr
I remember doing this, and also doing them at home and spraying the piece with a clear acrylic spray to seal it. I still have a Dickins Scrooge village that I painted over the course of several winters about 30 years ago!
Right, my Mother did that…have her ceramic Christmas tree with the light bulb inside to show of the plastic coloured lights & a quail like that one.
My grandmother made one & I wish I had it - really don’t know what happened to it - my grandparents would keep us 3 little girls for the whole summer & she took us to ceramics with the old ladies & we loved it !

My wife adds: To cover box springs put an elasticized bottom sheet over the box springs under the mattress and stretched over the box springs. This covers up the ugly box springs and can match or complement your bedding.
Thank you Kristen for your Christmas greeting. My husband and I have no children and are alone this Christmas. It’s been a nice day, but is the first time we’ve not been with any family. Life is changing for us as we age for sure. Despite being without family, we are blessed in many other ways. Thanks so much for acknowledging this in your message. If you put a bedskirt on the box springs, it will take the "sting"
away from having no bedskirt. I used that trick happily for years!

I enjoyed the video. Your dresses are lovely. Even though I have a phobia about birds, your two birds finds are nice. The pheasant is beautifully painted. They will be great to add to your decor.

Hi, on the Leather Carry All, some people use 'shoe polish' on them to cover up the wear, just like on shoes. It is a suggestion, you decide.

The quail was a mass produced piece and came with smaller baby one. I have the same set. I think they were made in the 60s or 70s. They came in white as well.

Your quail looks like Otagiri made in Japan. They are collectible. Cute!
I have a set of quail that look just like it. I bought them at a garage sale for $1. I don’t see a marking on them though. I have a thing for birds.
Yes I have the set of this quail and they are indeed Otagiri. Got mine at an estate sale.

If you haven’t ever read, “ A Man Called Peter”, I think you will like it. Peter is Peter Marshall and it’s biography. I love the pheasants and quail and have a few different ones I have collected.
Love the pheasant hen, the little partridge would be great for a Christmas vignette.

One way to cover a box springs is to put a fitted sheet on it. That’s what I have done & it works great.

I sell vintage and holland mold as well as atlantic mold were kits youd buy and paint and bake them at home. So this lady bought it and made it at home for lynn.

Love that pheasant. We have a taxidermy pheasant that my grandfather had done along time ago.

If I remember correctly, those bowls with the handles (bail handles) were sold as a set of 3. They were used for display in country decor.

Your ceramic quail is vintage and was made in Japan.
I have a collection of them and I use them in my fall décor. The smallest one I have is about 1 1/2 inches and the largest maybe 6 1/2 inches.
They are so cool!

@@KristenHoffman I’m in Pennsylvania but wish I was you neighbor. I’ll keep my eye open for that pheasant for you though. I’m 72 and in the midst of doing the Swedish Death cleaning. It’s where you get rid of everything that you have no use for so when you pass your children don’t have to clean out the house. Lol It’s not as gruesome as it sounds. I wish you lived closer because you could go through all my vintage stuff that my kids don’t want. I may be old but I’m not elderly and I have a good, healthy and happy life. I now thrift like you. I have to absolutely love it and it has to have a reason to come into my house. When I bring some thing in, something has to go out.
"A Man Called Peter" is one of my favorite books and movies. About the great Scottish Presbyterian minister, Peter Marshall. You'd love it! 💜

Great finds. Maybe see if you can find a gunter who can get you a pheasant. Taxidermy is expensive but at least you get a fresh one.

A Man Called Peter is a wonderful book, and still in print today. I read it years ago and it sticks with me still. It's about Peter Marshall an incredible man of God, written by his wife Katherine. I hope you read it! I just looked it up and it was written in 1951, if you have a copy from that date, that's a first edition, so pretty special.
I've read "Christy" by Katherine Marshall. Outstanding book.

This is a great haul! A Man Called Peter is a great book about Peter Marshall. He was chaplain of the US Senate and a man of great faith, this is his biography.

Merry Christmas. I don’t know how you find such good stuff. All the Goodwill’s we visit are new. And they all have high prices. I haven’t found a good thrift store since we moved. We go to a consignment store, I love going in there. I wanted to go this week. But my son in law is coming from out of town tomorrow. And I’m not sure how long he will stay. We had a fun Christmas. My grandkids had my house a mess. And my youngest granddaughter s fourteen months, she had markers too. We bought them for her older brother and sister. She had marker all over her hands. She’s not walking yet. But she gets around, rather quickly. She loves playing with our dog’s toys. You can’t turn your back on her.

A Man Called Peter by Catherine Marshall? You may enjoy reading that book and seeing the movie by the same name based on the book. It is the biography of a Christian preacher.
I found a taxidermy bobwhite quail in a glass cloche for $8.00 at our local thrift store, so there is hope to find your pheasant!
Some really neat finds in that store! I think buyers remorse is when you buy something and regret buying it.
That was my thought when she said it. But I guess we know what she meant. 😏
Buy the little one Crayola color wonder. They only show color on special paper. Then if she colors on anything it won't show up.
