    First thing I did when I brought my 2021 144 4 x 4 van home was add a step so my wife could get in the van. The other thing I really like is the 360 parking view, makes backing into spots so much easier and of course the adaptive cruise control cause I can get almost 20 mpg if I keep it under 70 mph which my foot cannot do on it's own. Everything Jason said is spot on.

      Thank you. I love those packages as well. I love the adaptive cruise and the 360 camera. I guess we need to shoot another video lol

    Biggest advantage I can see to the 2023 version is full B20 compliance. In California its getting difficult to find B5 Diesel and I guess we're all going to have to find some solution to B20 long term.

    Thank you for the review - good info. But at 3:17 your complaint about not having a handle to help getting in the sliding door is misplaced. Yes - Mercedes does offer a handle to help getting in the sliding door. The van you reviewed just didn't have option T74 Assist Handle, B-Pillar.

    • @ILoveProperty
      @ILoveProperty  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good to know. I think the one we have in now has that option. Probably should be standard... especially on the 4x4. a $20 part on a 70K van seems a little odd IMO.

      @@ILoveProperty Thanks for the reply. I just subscribed to your channel. I agree that not including the assist handle on a $70K van is odd. FYI on the new 2023 AWD vans the T75 Door-mounted assist handles, driver & passenger are standard included items. I'm in the process of ordering a new 2023 AWD 170" 3500XD Sprinter.

      @@boxster1970 that's sweet. We have 2 AWD vans on order, a 144 and 170 2500. We build really light and like to stay clear of the dully for our campers. Love to see pictures when you get it. I'm pretty pumped for the AWD... I wasn't a fan of the 4wd for our customers who are not typically heavy 4x4 use.. they just want better traction in snow etc. But the increase in MSRP is tough.

    I think it's absolutely nuts from a consumers standpoint that Mercedes is discontinuing the 4x4 Sprinter, and also.....that NOBODY else is stepping into the market VOID offering the same!!! There's a huge pent up demand for an offroad platform. It's so bad that 25+ year old Toyota Delicas are being imported from Japan....and still selling for $20,000+/USED. The Market is there....somebody needs to step up, and that includes Mercedes for having inadequately trained numbers of Sprinter certified techs available. I've even had friends tell me that NOT every dealership has a Tech for Sprinters. Lastly....I'd love to KNOW why M-B killed the model; was it an inherent design defect?; was it poor marketing? WHAT killed the line?

    • @borandell9915
      @borandell9915 ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I can tell, MB feels pressure to increase fuel economy across it brand. I agree, there is definitely demand for a 4x4 option. But when you think about it, these vans aren't really designed for hard-core overlanding. It's a little house riding through an earthquake in the best of conditions. Having said that, I went with the 4x4 because I like it when I like it, and it appears to be going away.

  • @jncn1490
    @jncn1490 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    How about the class action lawsuit against MB including the sprinter engine. DEF problems , Nox sensor problems, etc. Thousands of videos with people paying 5-6k to fix these problems, even on 2021-2022 models and the problem comes back ???
    Why would you recommend this van ?

      Very similar to anything from 2019 forward with the exception of the new 4-Cyl engine. Engine is strong... long term, no idea, but assume similar quality as previous sprinters.

    Hi Jason! It is 2/3/2023 today and I was going to buy a new 2022 Sprinter 2500 144WB V6 AWD (which is still available in my area as a leftovers), but I can see many comments about frequent problems with emission system, especially with V6 models. Have you heard anything about this? I know, Mercedes brand (in general) is NOT a reliable make, but what about Sprinter models?

  • @hmw7248

    Hello sir, you chose the electronic handbrake, which one is better, the electronic handbrake or the mechanical handbrake, and is the electronic handbrake safe and reliable, especially when it is used in the field. Thanks.

    • @ILoveProperty
      @ILoveProperty  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually prefer the mechanical hand brake. The electric one is fine, but every time you put the van in park it automatically puts it on... which is a bit annoying.

    It is a very serious mistake on the part of Mercedes, eliminate the V6 engine and modify the 4x4 system to a lower system. I think the 3.0 V6 engine will only be available in the American versions. In Europe, politicians have become idiots with the issue of emissions, stupid without a solution.

    Hello Jason, thank you for sharing this great video. We are torn, looking for an expedition vehicle, we need the largest van possible, we start our 10 year globe expedition in Spain in August and looking for the perfect van that sleeps and seats 4 -6 crew members, we are looking for dual cab, traveling with a toddler and need the ability to travel all through Europe, Africa and Asia. Any advice please?

    • @ILoveProperty
      @ILoveProperty  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Probably a diesel van would be best. Check with the various counties you will be visiting and seeing what type of fuel is available. Also, if you are looking to house that many people, a camper van in our opinion is not the right choice. Look at a class C, or Super C or even a small class A camper.

    I like your style, to the point. I have a 2018 Metris long wheel base right now. But next year when my lease is up I think I will go with Promaster. As far as 4x4, why? All I see with these 4x4’s on you tube is people in the desert. Don’t need 4x4 in the desert. Those sprinters are so high off the ground it’s like climbing into a pickup truck in the mid 1980’s. Way too tall. IMO.

    • @ILoveProperty
      @ILoveProperty  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video Jason. Everything you stated was very true. The automatic side door is a pain. The dealer showed me a secret and I’ve loved it ever since. The door will periodically will recalibrate itself and that has helped tremendously. Eventually it will break and repairs will be $$$
    The other thing is the crosswind assist. Holy moly I about wet myself and eventually ended up pulling over I was so scared. Thanks to google and TH-cam the first thing I do is disable it. Additionally, I disable lane assist as well after cranking the engine. It is a waste and will probably kill people due to the inherit nature and over-correction. In my opinion it’s total garage!!
    Love my 4 x 4. Good gas mileage is 13 mpg. Great gas mileage is 13.1!!
