    Love this book! th-cam.com/users/postUgkxpCNxqmAkyjN6NPx1fyB7QiEFWyO5mUWL it is simply one-of-a-kind! I really love it, because karah explained all tools required to have the job done, not mentioning the fabulous diy pallets ideas. I'm pretty sure this will be a fresh start in my new endeavour. Amazon was great, they delivered on time. Thank you!

    Doubling the underlay is tricky. It also doubles the compression when walking on. It caused the joints in my floor to rip and come apart. Had to start over

  • @DocteGaby
    @DocteGaby ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Excellent! The garage floor has been on my list for a while and I would have never thought of putting underlay beneath it!

  • @TheWebstaff
    @TheWebstaff ปีที่แล้ว +8

    If you end up with moisture issues you might find you need to vent that vent to outside as that garage may have been an addition and that might be to vent under a raised a floor in the house which is to clear water from under the house.
    Just FYI.

    • @TheWebstaff
      @TheWebstaff ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah just looking back at you last video on that floor moisture, I think that vent should be going outside if you have raised floors in the main house.
      It's to clear vapour out from under the floor so if there is now a sealed room it's stopping the floor from venting potentially.
      And might be trapping excess water in that room.
      Have a look outside for other air blocks, if you have enough else where you might actually be better blocking off that vent.

    Not at all flooring-related, but Adam Savage has a great video from a few years back where he uses that metallic tape to turn shaped wooden blanks into costume/play swords. I made some for the kids using that very B&Q variety, and you're right, it's super satisfying. "Behold - metal!".

    Hi Keith, thanks for your video. Aluminium tape addict here as well. I would recommend not to put the rolling shelves directly against the outside wall / corner because of the potential moisture problem. Better leave a little gap to allow some ventilation.

    I’ve got the same flooring in my garage, it’s awesome. Better than a diy resin floor and I’d argue better than a pro resin floor. Comfier to stand on and if you destroy one by grinding into it or similar, just lift it and swap it out. Mines been battered and it still looks great.

    Thanks for the info and discount code for the flooring. I bought a garage pack for my workshop and have spent the day getting it fitted. It already looks great and I haven't finished yet. It feels really solid and dust sweeps up much easier than the chipboard flooring it is covering. When I saw the title of ultimate garage flooring I thought “Oh no” as I’d bought and fitted the grey Garage Floors Direct interlocking tiles to my workshop following your workshop flooring project (and using your discount promo code), and here you were recommending something new. But phew, same flooring. I used my track saw to cut it as well, dead simple job and great fun.
    Hope your skirting board stays on better than mine in the lounge which was all grip-fix stuck and has pulled away in long sections. Very frustrating and I’ll have to drive some masonry nails or similar in to re-affix

    You find that rolling weight is based on a certain amount of give / flex which a double underlay will affect.
    I'm sure it fine for your use now but to much sub flex can be really bad.
    Lvt would be very unhappy with that much give and would crack up for example.

    • @SeanBZA
      @SeanBZA ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Plenty of places supply those, look for speed shelving, there are a number of systems from the major racking and shelving suppliers, generally all rated for 250kg plus per upright, and with many of them up to 10 tons per rack. Steel uprights that are either bolt together or welded, and then shelf beams that clip into them, with a decking normally made from plank, though other options are available. Dexion and Forlezer are some of the brands, but there are literally hundreds of different suppliers of them.

    A question about the floor trim. Since you had issues with dampness and moisture, why did you choose an MDF trim instead of a vinyl trim? Wouldn't the MDF be damaged by the moisture over time? I'm asking as I have a similar issue and we are looking at trim as well. 🙂
    Thanks for the great content! 😁

    • @RagnBoneBrown
      @RagnBoneBrown  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, the MDF is sitting on top of 7mm thick PVC tiles and 6mm of underlay, plus it's protected by paint, so unless the room flooded, it aint getting wet. The pine skirting boards are awful for twisting and warping, so I never use them

    Yikes. I have an affinity for that aluminum tape as well. No explanation.

      Really looking forward to the news about the spare room ;-). Love those tiles. Not sure you can get them in Aus, though. Will do a search. Thanks Keith. 👍🏼

      You could try epoxy paint, which goes down well on a correctly prepared surface.

      Also old carpet works well..
      If you can get a wool type carpet its less flammable!

      Agree it seems expensive.
      You would self level with ardex and topcoat with resin for the same money.

    NEVER USE THESE INTERLOCKING TILES ON AN ACTUAL GARAGE FLOOR:- If you bring a wet car into it in winter the water will drip off along with any salt or road film residue and seep in-between the tile joints and sit underneath the tiles where it will never evaporate and just stagnate. If you put fibre boards underneath like in this video, they will simply rot and disintegrate... OK for a storage room, but not in your garage. Also, the fibre board will get crushed by the weight of a vehicle in very short time.
