3D printing is great when people wanna make cool extentions on their kit or simple things like trying to fix a part. Very cool.

Yeah I used mine to make a bigger mace for the Barbatos Lupus Rex that could actually hold it's whole weight without flexing so much. I have a resin printer personally and that has saved me so much time building and given me access to so many more tools it's insane.
On a Resin Printer though there are some cleaning and curing steps but after that it ends up being perfect for small little pieces or even new accessories. I use my Resin Printer for most of my printing but use an M300 for full on parts that I want to make that aren't in the original kits. For my 1/60 scale Gundam I ended up printing entirely new outer armor to turn it into the Full Armor. Well almost the Full Armor if not for the fact that I ended up having to reprint the shield and cannons twice before saying fuck it and just removing the cannons on the Shield. Using a sanded down and recasted Shield and calling it the pre armor Thunderbolt. That one ended up being completely out of my depth but I think if you don't take on ridiculously ambitious projects you don't get better.

    Just wanted to add here,
FDM: when the print is finished, you need to work on the printed part with Sprays and files and sandpaper and wash and perhaps a Vacuum bell with some acetone to melt the top layer to get a surface that looks unprinted.
Resin: You will have to spend the same amount of time wearing gloves and washing, hardening, treating and rewashing the printed parts to get them looking top range.
One has a lot of particles to hoover and scoop up, the other has lots of hazardous chemicals than need to be properly taken care of and disposed of afterwards.
    Choose your poison.

You just made resin printing sound a lot more work than it really is, plus FDM is massively slower than resin.

Good to see your videos back on youtube...don't know why but I haven't seen any new ones in some time. I got into 3d printing this last year. I also went with Anycubic, which I feel compared to my friends in the community is not as good a printer nor does their resins give good consistency. Some of the problems comes from the resin not staying properly mixed, shake the bottle or not. The other issue is temperature ranges in the room and the actual resin, build plate leveling and the surface being untrue in terms of complete flatness from the factory, lastly there are allot of adjustments in supports and print speed/lift, times that need adjusting. Good luck with your adventure. Also it makes it easier to remove supports if you soak them in hot watter after a rinse and before removing supports.

Hey Gunpla Meli. I started printing this year with the Anycubic Photon Mono X 4K. That first print you show that is a base, I found that if you print straight on the plate, for some reason will have that distortion around the edges. However, if you print it fully on supports, you won't get that. I've done several prints this year and that was one of the things I learned with this printer.

LOVE THIS VIDEOOOOOO!!!! I’ve been resin printing minis for about 5 years and just now getting into gunpla! So excited to print some bits to add cool details. The video may be a couple years old, but it’s super cool to see your journey in this. It’s a hobby in its own right. I spent about 6 months learning and practicing before I felt comfortable with my anycubic (much smaller than yours. Lol) the cool part with failed prints is a lot of times you can salvage some of it and use it in other projects. Hoping to see more printing videos from you!!!
P.S. curious to see how the new flexible resin is used in gunpla. 🤔

couple of questions.. are you hollowing the models out? if not the surface area is still pretty huge which is probably causing suctions issues not being able to pull the print off properly.. second thing i see is your supports look way bigger than they need to be, using way too much resin.. but this is all part of the learning process! keep it up, and have fun!!

    • @Gunplameli

No none are hallowed I think, I normally use lychee but you can’t use it yet so I don’t know how to use the anycubic software well. I’m waiting for lychee to be updated and I hope it will make printing easier!

I have never printed out gunpla or gunpla accessories but instead use it to print models and effects for miniature wargaming. Anyhoo, here are some channels that I recommend: 3D Printed Tabletop (he mostly does miniatures but has been doing this long enough that other printer content makers ask him for help and he’s done a few Kickstarters for STLs) & 3D Printing Pro (Greg does reviews of printers and different resin brands, also he is a professional in doing supports-meaning that he gets paid to do supports for other sculptors, not just that he’s real good). They both focus on 28mm-32mm tall figures but if they can make those come out with amazing levels of detail then larger prints are not usually a problem. Good luck.

  • @shoootme
    @shoootme 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Welcome to the 3D printing gunpla community, always good to have a new face.
Don't worry about getting failed prints, it happens. In your case I would say its probably a few things, you may have already worked them out, or your sister has already told you, but just in case.
The failed print at 7:20 looks to be one of a couple of things, wrong exposure time, i think you already worked that out, generally darker resins take longer to cure so going from the orange to the grey would need to have more exposure time, there used to be a good list for the anycubic photon settings, but that was the original, the mono X will have different settings. Temp also effects how the resin cures, so if you put a print on over night, with the temp drop you can find the resin dose not cure at the same settings.
The RX78 prints might be the same thing, but the front skirts are support failures, think of 3D printing as building a wall, you can only build onto another brick, you can make steps as long as the brick you place down has enough of the brick below to support it, this is over hangs or bridging, for large gaps you can build up support to hold the brick in place until its fixed to the ones above. what's happening with the skirts is theirs nothing under them, so the printer makes the part, move up and repeats until that part has a brick it is fixed to. when generating supports there's an option for all rather than to base, some times the computer is not smart and misses bits so you will have to go in an add them your self, if the software dose not crash on you. The software problems sound like a pain, you can try other software to do the supports then save the file as an STL and import that into anycubics slicer, don't know if that will help, here's to hoping the mac version gets fixed to stop the crashes.
As for others that are into 3D printing mokanaman got me into 3D printing, he's on youtube and has documented his work with early budget 3D printers and gunpla building. There's a good 3D printing gunpla community on facebook where a lot of people share there work, i made a repository on there with a lot of files so if you are looking for models hit it up and see if there's anything you are interested in. I am curious where you found that xmas themed zaku and ball, been looking in the normal spots and not seen it anywhere.
    keep up the good work.

My opinion is to separate the model into smaller parts to print instead of printing as one. The success rate is higher and reduce the overhang by repositioning. You are going to paint it anyways so superglue the parts should be fine.
