    Looks nice.
    One thing I would like to point out is that when you changed the plumbing drain where it connected to the vent tee, you made it a tee wye, that now doesn't meet code.
    You shouldn't have a problem snaking a 2" tee to start, but the reason for code compliance is the water level now can block the air in that tee wye. The vent is lower than the drain. Then it acts like it isn't vented. IPC and UPC plumbing codes address this. Functions like an s trap.

    Great Video!! I recommend don’t put a lot of thinset unless your installing Tile right away if your Thinset gets air that bond won’t be right. Also if you do plumbing leave it open 24hr to make sure there’s no leaks. And from personal experience use Oatey Shower Pan PVC Adhesive on the drain 👌🏻

    You should always poor and mud your pan and tile the shower floor before running any tiles on the walls. And don’t be a professional rookie and use a piece of fern strip to run your tile it if you pour your pan right and install your tile right you should be able to run your wall tiles right off of your floor tiles for a perfect installation every time!

    Liked your video. Tell me, if I plumb a double shower system from a single 3/4” copper supply line and with a 5’ linear shower drain taking it from the standard 2” to 1 1/2” pvc and sweep it into the former bathtub drain (with no vent now) is it going to drain properly? Code only states that the drain is capable of moving 1.5x the supply volumetrically. Your thoughts?

    • @SuperVPro

      It will not be better because you will not be able to replace the floor if you want to. Plus underneath your mud and tile is weep holes which can take care of any water that needs to go down there.

    • @SuperVPro
      @SuperVPro  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is the best way to install it last because the shower Pan gets used to most and gets nasty the most and it could be easily replaced. Without messing up the wall or the pan. You can literally peel off the tile and put new one on top. Also all the paper is used to redirect water so it is very necessary. It is called aqua Bar b.

    Tile installation... The final job looks great. However, the tiles were not properly installed. When you install an interior tile you should have a minimum contact area of 80% between the tile and the thin set (NOT LESS). Exterior tiles and tiles subject moisture (i.e. Showers) should have a 95% of contact area (ANSI A108.5). You can also refer to the current version of the TCNA Handbook.

    • @SuperVPro
      @SuperVPro  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      100% contact is better than all of that can you please explain what you're talking about?

    • @Oneguyinc.
      @Oneguyinc. 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I’ll explain all your mortar needs to be spread in one direction perpendicular,then tiles need to be placed and worked side to side (perpendicular) to knock down the ridges that’s why you use a notch trowel and lastly tiles need to be vibrated or tapped to release air bubbles if you do not do those three things you will not get 95% coverage!

    • @SuperVPro
      @SuperVPro  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Oneguyinc. What you're talking about is something that has to be done if your thin set is very stiff my stuff is very wet including the mud everything squishes out without a problem. That's why floating your walls with mud is the best way is way and the longest lasting .

    Great job other than creating an "s trap" when you moved the drain. That thing your calling a sweep is a combo. The short sweep on the Sanitary tee is designed like that on purpose. It prevents the trap from siphoning dry when the shower is draining. Honestly it shouldn't be a problem because the shower will drain much less water volume than the previous tub did. However in the future if you use a combo in place of a sanitary tee on something like a tub it will be an issue causing sewer smell if they ever fill up the tub and drain it. Bathroom looks great though. The work including the plumbing is really clean.

    No back butter on the tiles?

    • @SuperVPro
      @SuperVPro  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The tile was not installed on any kind of fabric it was installed on wet mud so they had enough moisture to inhere perfectly. Usually it is a good thing to back butter if the job is taken really slow and the things that on the back and start interrupting dry out . That whole shower took about 3 hours to tile all of the walls. After 23 years I think I got the hang of it. Thank you for the comment though!

  • @quentinm5981
    @quentinm5981 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Why did you decide to do the walls first then the shower floor? What if the grout fails in the corners and water gets down to the pan. I did not see a pre-slope. And do you not like to use cement board? Just curious not a hater

    • @SuperVPro
      @SuperVPro  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a different system that we use over here in California that last 80 years. The water is supposed to go under the tile whatever does not make it into the drain and there is weep holes underneath that mud so cracked grout or not no problem at all.

      It can be done either way some people prefer one way some another the biggest reason why I do it this way because I do a shower in A-day .And when I started 20 years ago this is the way the old school guys did it as well. And I've never had to repair one of those showers.
