my gf bought me a tic watch pro 3 gps just because i would just keep talking about it and i have never been happier with a smart watch ( my first being an asus zenwatch 2). I use it every day and even on some long hikes for maps and music. I wish they had a G-shock looking one but I also love the minimalist look. Best android watch I've had. I wish they had a solar screen one.
So I was considering this watch but now after watching your video I’m questioning it… I was attracted to it features like compass, tracking, battery life, HR and sleep tracking… price seemed reasonable also… what watch do you recommend instead of this one? Love your content btw very helpful
I've owned a Mobvoi Ticwatch and it had miserable battery life and just up and died a short while after I got it. I think it only just barely outlived its warranty. When I tried to contact them about it the customer service was not only nearly impossible to get ahold of but they were more than just a little rude about letting me know I was just shit out of luck.
I don't know how to ride a bike, still watched your entire bike videos. I don't care about watches, will still watch this one. Your videos are always full of nice narration, your voice is sweet to the ear, your footage is fun and your commentary is high quality. I dread the day you get tired of making videos.
I have to agree with u here, in my opinion I've always thought ticwatch looks a little "cheap" like the wow factor and quality u see from other brands just not being present in their lineup. I switched from Samsung to Garmin Venu 2 Plus and never looked back, it absolutely resonates with my aesthetic requirements, be it after some wristband customization of course.
After switching from iPhone to Samsung Fold. Losing the ability to use my Apple Watch. I picked up the Garmin Epix, love this watch. I don't have it set to Always ON, so the battery life is around 15-20 days.
WearOS is one of the reasons I stuck with Apple after moving over a couple of years ago. I just can’t get on with it. Especially after Apple have done such a good job with WatchOS 10. I was hoping that now Google have released their watch, it would get better but it’s stuck in a rut and feels like an afterthought.
I have to agree with you. I switched to a Pixel Watch and I regret it. I'm definitely going back to an Apple Watch next year. WearOS just isn't there yet.
Samsung just pushed an update for the original galaxy watch (5 years old). I hope they're committed with the new wear os as much as they were with tizen. There are still some things that were better on my old watch, but plenty others that are better in my new watch 5 pro. Really recommend it if you want a nice looking rounded watch.
Heck, as someone who strongly dislikes Apple and will never buy anything Apple, I also agree with you. Apple has done some neat things with the Apple Watch and WatchOS that are unlikely to be seen on the Android side due to massive hardware and software fragmentation. WearOS is very...unimpressive and uninspired.
It’s a shame: the hardware is the most perfect smartwatch I’ve ever seen. Having the old school display able to access so much of the fitness functionality means you really don’t need to use the power hungry LCD all that much. Battery life is the biggest reason I stopped using smartwatches, as they become more a hassle than they’re worth (particularly when traveling). Like what’s the point of being able to store music and bringing it into the gym when after an hour of use tracking fitness and Bluetooth pairing with my headphones, 1/3 or worse 1/2 of the battery life is wiped out? Most of the time I end up using these things purely as wrist notification buzzers because anything else decimates battery. The software though….oof. I don’t get google. Android is an open platform and that’s why it’s so successful. It’s like they’re handicapping 3rd party developers just to make Samsung happy. Instead, they should have just partnered with Mobvoi on making the best smartwatch and helped a lot on the software so others can copy. It’s not like Tizen was catching on lol
In defense of Movboi not updating wear 3.0. Google has made it so Qualcomm chipsets that make the update cannot access Google Assistant or wear os app. Ticwatch pro 3 ultra (etc ..) has a dedicated assistant button. I would prefer to keep that functionality and not get the new wear 3.0 I think Google has put movboi and fossil in a bad place. When Fossil upgraded wear 3 it lost the assistant functionality/ wear os app. Movboi we'll have the same issue since it's using the same Qualcomm chipset.
Great point here. I've also heard the same about the Assistant being optimized for Exynos but not Snapdragon for Wear OS 3+. Manufacturers won't say it, but recently Google seems not to have been a great partner when it comes to Wear OS.
@@TheMrMobile Yes now in fairness to the critics, movboi has done a pretty bad job of communicating with its customers. (Fossil, contrarily, was very communicative even when discussing the limitations of the update). So I do understand the frustration of people expecting better software support. Just think there's not a lot of good options for them at the moment.
The entire time i was watching this, i was reminiscing about how much i miss the old Pebble watches. Say what you will about market segmentation, but i miss having more people to turn to for software, and more specifically software paired with interesting hardware, in the mobile space than Apple and Google.
I have just got the pro 5 and it's a nice watch for me I still perfer the 3 pro look over the 5 but I like my watch to look like a watch. I've owned 3 so far and I don't understand why they ditched the original strap option which was a leather with silicone inner. That said this watch is fast and fitness is great on this watch. I do like it but again ide love to see them go back to the original watch design or for another moto 360 as for me this was my favorite looking watch.
I'm on my 2nd Huawei watch and will only consider other watches only if they match that battery life. I only charge once a weak with 3x 45 min. run with GPS and some hiking. My wife with regular use only needs to charge once in 2 weeks. I gladly ommit some sw features for this battery life. The basics are covered pretty well ( sports tracking, notifications, voice calls...).
Thanks Michael for this review. Have you noticed or tested on the auto pause during the exercises works? it doesn't really work with my Ticwatch pro 3 Ultra, however it works almost instantly with my Galaxy Watch 4 Classic...very practical when you often stop on your mountain bike to photograph the landscape 📷😁
Mobvoi isn't the only one sticking with USB-A, and for good reason. Most USB-C power bricks won't provide current unless the connected device performs a digital handshake. It'd be kind of ridiculous to include that in a passive charger like these watches use.
Erm.. Sounds doubtful since it's just a matter of using a different cable. Chargers do indicate with something or other what wattage they can put out, I didn't think it was digital, but there is some basic communication
I had the 3 pro but there were dead zones on the touch. Got a replacement and there were dead zones on that too, so gestures were hit and miss. I gave up and went back to Samsung.
You summed it up perfectly if you're one of those people who only care about specs and nothing more get a watch like this. But if you want a more polished product, get the pixel watch. Google should really get more credit. Wear os on any other watch feels clunky. But the Pixel watch just feels pleasant!
Great review. :) I gave up on Wear OS a while back. I'm currently sporting an Amazfit T-Rex Pro. It has substantially fewer apps and doesn't let you take or receive calls on the watch, but I never did that anyway. I think smartwatches are mostly good for fitness and outdoors activities. Most other things, you're going to want something with a screen at least the size of a phone.
Ehh you’ve just never had a great smart watch that can handle those tasks well. My AW does all those perfectly well. I want to switch back to wear os and android, just waiting for that matching combo.
If their snapdragon 4100 watches got that Wear OS 3 update with in a timely manner, this would be the Android Watch to beat. People are understandably hesitant with shelling out $350 for this when the Galaxy Watch 6 is coming up.
Ticwatch 2 and 3 owner here, fossil gen 6 owner. Wear OS 3 crushed the functionality of my fossil. It was nigh unusable and the little bugs and annoyances of wear OS 3 (no assistant, etc) turn me off greatly to any WearOS 3 device. Personally I'm a function over form kinda guy myself and my ticwatch 3 pro is absolutely fantastic. Unless Google gets their crap together and makes their own 1st party apps functional on their own wearOS platform outside of Samsung and pixel devices... I'm fine with the performance of WearOS 2 and that makes my ticwatch 3 the perfect watch for me. The "upgrades" in WearOS 3 were underwhelming or in the case of some of the changes just downright annoying. I highly recommend the Ticwatch Pro 3 but will hold off on the 5 until Google gets is S**t together on WearOS.
Coming from a Fossil hybrid, battery life was my main concern going to a legit smartwatch and this thing threaded the needle. I got the other color, so my aesthetic complaints aren't there. It just looks the cleanest of anything I've found that has this kind of life. The Garmin stuff looks like garbage. Good review, the goods outweigh the bad on this thing for me by a ton.
5 days battery is the best thing I heard in this video, but 7 days is my limit. Especially when battery life is counted in hours instead of days I will never consider them. So I stick with my Huawei Runner GT which does everything as good as any watch. 10 days of battery life is just great.
Yeah...this was a well balanced review and fair...but I just don't see myself dropping 350.00 for this watch.. it's not a 350.00 watch. I'll wait to see what Samsung does...I hear the rotation bezel is coming back. My Ticwatch pro 3 is still sitting in my jewelry box waiting for an update. I have the Galaxy watch 5 pro and love it ..just wish the rotating bezel was back. But an android watch without that Google Assistant....isn't answering Android watch IMO....
Had a Tic Watch as my first "real" smartwatch (pebble was my first). It was okay at best. It felt like something ordered on wish. Updates were okay, battery was okay....but then againg Im glad I use a pixel watch nowadays. Of course I do wish it had at least a full day of battery charge on screen on, yet I will never go back to cheap looking tech that is just pain in my eyes and that is nowhere as smooth as a pixel watch (with its bad SOC)
Have to agree with you. The original Ticwatch Pro felt...underbaked. A lot of good ideas but without the hardware to pull them off. Switching displays took just long enough to be annoying. Luckily the Ticwatch Pro 3 fixed most of my concerns.
7:00 That's exactly why I bought, sold and am never coming back to Mobvoi... promises and more promises. What made me choose the Ticwatch Pro 3 Ultra over the Samsung's was tha same promise of future updates, what made me ditch it and sell it was the lack of such updates, and what made me decide to never trust their word again was the lack of that said update
Fantastic review! You don't sugarcoat the bad parts of the watch, yet you don't fail to sing the praises either. One second, you seem like a nay sayer but then you're fully on the bandwagon. Balancing it all out with what doesn't work for you, but it might work for someone else. I'll be sure to keep watching your "tell it how it is" videos!
The real question is when will those Fossil gen 6 lines lauch? I've used my Bradshaw so much the crown is broken, and i have a Skagen after switching to Scandinavian design with Volvo
I recently switched to apples ecosystem but should I ever go back to Samsung I will highly consider this watch. The battery life alone really makes it worthwhile.
Great review, Michael. I have a Galaxy Watch 4 I barely use at all because my Amazfit GTR 4 has all the health-monitoring bells and whistles (which is what I want in a smartwatch, nothing more) and lasts around 8 days on a single charge. The battery of the Amazfit GTR 4 is, however, significantly lower in mAh than the battery of this watch - and you said it lasts 5 days on a single charge. What is the big drain here? Only the double screen?
Given your standing as a tech reviewer and your love of sci-fi, have you considered trying to get in touch Bethesda to get a preview of the smartwatch in their collectors edition of starfield
Is there an option to use compass in essential mode? Please don't give me the answer without checking, because on the basis of that i am going to buy the watch Please also share the video of it if possible Thanks
I honestly miss my Apple Watch. The experience of a well integrated device that could tell the context I wanted to use it in and got regular updates was amazing. But since they don't work with Android, I sold it. So far, all I see is the same as on phones; bloatware, crap that I dont need and only a super tiny community of people even working on alternative OSes - AsteroidOS, in particular. I just hope that there will be an actually usable smartwatch. Because right now, it feels like they are very, very limited...
for a causal smartwatch, despite the mediocre reviews, OnePlus watch was the best. Still using it and still have 10 days of battery ( 14 days when new)
Nice video bro i always watch your videos i love em my GW6C gets around 3d 4h of battery before i charge it the battery on this one is hot but the lack of OS updates and no custom secondary button is a bummer
Wow, the Ticwatch E was my first Smart Watch! I hated it after a bit because it got no updates. I'm now an Apple Watch guy but it's nice to see them still around in a way.
When buying expensive tech you want to know the support is there if something does wrong, with TicWatch it just isnt. Once they have your money they really couldn't care less. A long time ago I wrote to the CEO questioning their business model. Judging by the ever increasing number of online complaints about this company nothing has changed. So buy at your peril!
Looks like this might be the first wear OS watch to achieve shower to shower battery life. I've taken to setting my Fossil Hybrid on it's charger each time I shower, that's enough to keep it going indefinitely. Most watches charge too slowly and drain to quickly for that to be enough, but once they can achieve that, you can completely stop thinking about charging it, it becomes routine, not a daily chore.
That's what I did with my TicWatch Pro 3. Charging never bothered me because like you said, it's just a habit at that point. It is on the wrist tracking all the important stuff.
Mobvoi was my first smart watch and tbh if fossil hasn't fixed their waterproofing issues with the recent generations of it's hybrid watch u might have to switch back
I was looking forward to seeing critical review about the abandoned ticwatch 3 ultra gps with no software update We are still running wearOS 2.0 Sooner or later all apps non upgradable
My Garmin Fenix 6 for the gym .. Galaxy watch 5 classic for daily driver .. and Omega Seamaster for nights out. One watch doesn't have to do it all imo. Great review as always sir. 👍🏻
I desperately want another Pebble. I would literally sell my soul for an affordable color eInk screen like a Pebble 2 especially if they equipped it with cellular and fall detection. I want a simple watch for notifications that does what it needs to and stay out of the way.
Colored display for heart rate is not only clever, but super useful. I hate trying to squint to see my heart rate on a run, this feature would be a game changer.
I have wanted a rollable smart watch I have had so many smart watches from the moto 360 and fossil watch and xaimi watch , the problem is i find them to heavy and not enough features such as playing music on a watch The battery is always the problem on smart watches , i dont know whether i would wear a smart watch again
I'm planning to buy a TikTok Pro 5, and I'm an iPhone 15 Pro Max user, so I want to use it in conjunction with my phone, but can I use it in the same way as an Android phone? If it's different, what's the difference?
My 2018 ticwatch pro still ticking in 2023. Yes, it lag as hell, but still do a pretty good job for displaying notification and of course showing time. 😅 But after seeing the rotating button as its feature, I think it's the time for upgrading my 5 years watch with a new one. As always, thanks for your in-depth review.
It's not so much a smart watch as a "Feature Watch" (for lack of a better term), but Casio did announce they're releasing a classic G-Shock that will sync with an Android app to allow basic notifications and text reading. Instantly thought of you lamenting about the last G-Shock you reviewed not living up to the legacy of the old line. Might not be worth a whole video, but figured you might want to check it out for yourself.
I guess it's what's needed in order to be able to have such good battery life but 48mm in diameter, 50mm lug to lug and 24mm bands is absurdly large for so many people. Hopefully Qualcomm keeps up with their wearable SoC improvements so we can have more normal sized smart watches with better battery life some time soon.

my gf bought me a tic watch pro 3 gps just because i would just keep talking about it and i have never been happier with a smart watch ( my first being an asus zenwatch 2). I use it every day and even on some long hikes for maps and music. I wish they had a G-shock looking one but I also love the minimalist look. Best android watch I've had. I wish they had a solar screen one.
Just buy a g shock at that point
I don't care for Apple products, but at least their smart watches are top-notch most of the time. Wear OS is just the poor man side.
Do you use your Apple watch with an iPhone or an android? If android, how good is the integration?
Try Garmin.
Just for context: Mobvoi actually started to roll out WearOS 3 for the TicWatch Pro 3, so yes, they delivered. Almost 2 years late, but still.
All that greatness but would and how long would it be supported software wise?
I have been using this brand for the last four years and I love it.
I wanted to love wearing the TicWatch Pro 5 so badly and then WearOS just ruined it along with the battery life. Nice review, Michael.
I like that you keep mentioning your bike video. It's a great vid I hope others watch it.
In defense of Movboi not updating wear 3.0. Google has made it so Qualcomm chipsets that make the update cannot access Google Assistant or wear os app. Ticwatch pro 3 ultra (etc ..) has a dedicated assistant button. I would prefer to keep that functionality and not get the new wear 3.0
I think Google has put movboi and fossil in a bad place.
I didn't know that That's a valid reason to not update and major screw up.
However personally I wouldn't care because the assistant sucks on Wear OS.
The entire time i was watching this, i was reminiscing about how much i miss the old Pebble watches. Say what you will about market segmentation, but i miss having more people to turn to for software, and more specifically software paired with interesting hardware, in the mobile space than Apple and Google.
2:47 Google Assistant does actually work on the Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 (but it currently runs on WearOS 2)
Not anymore. My Ticwatch Pro 3 now says that Google Assistant is not available on this OS version any time I try to search for something.
Funny enough, the bezel design is the only thing (other than software support) keeping me from buying a ticwatch, I love the matte black.
Which one do you use in daily Michael?? Thanks
As always excellent all-round review! Would it be too much to ask for a comparative review between Ticwatch Pro 5 and Amazfit T-rex Ultra ($399 😮)?
Super professional review, thank you so much
Mobvoi isn't the only one sticking with USB-A, and for good reason.
I gave up and went back to Samsung.
guess im still using my pebble steel lpl
You summed it up perfectly if you're one of those people who only care about specs and nothing more get a watch like this. But if you want a more polished product, get the pixel watch. Google should really get more credit. Wear os on any other watch feels clunky. But the Pixel watch just feels pleasant!
I would actually buy this for battery alone. This for me is the only actual smartwarch that can hit an S in my battery life ratings.
lol check out the garmins. Once a month charge!
Great review. :)
I gave up on Wear OS a while back.
Ahhhh yes. A sensible human
@@theone2be33 with what the mini 3 pro can do for its price. It’s far from overrated. Any non ignorant person can understand that.
The last line timing is everything and was perfect. Your jokes are like clockwork. They land right on the perfect second. Thanks for the laugh Michael
I watched your 100-hour e-Bike review! More of those, please!
Always nice to see a new Mr Mobile Video.
That backlight is the real showstopper. It takes me back to the notification nipple of my Sidekick III.
Yo but like which Facer watch face were you using? 👀
Hi. Maybe you know where to find information about last charge of watch. I would like to know when I charged my watch last time
This watch is pretty cool! I prefer the latest Galaxy Watch Pro, though.
Do any of these cool watches you review work with the iPhone , besides obviously the Apple Watch? I wish Apple would make a circular watch
Given your standing as a tech reviewer and your love of sci-fi, have you considered trying to get in touch Bethesda to get a preview of the smartwatch in their collectors edition of starfield
Mobvoi promised a Wear OS 3 update for 2022, and my TicWatch 3 Pro is still running Wear OS 2. I won't give them another chance.
The thing that actually kills the TicWatch is the delay between the wrist gesture and the backlight turning on.
Is there an option to use compass in essential mode?
Please don't give me the answer without checking, because on the basis of that i am going to buy the watch
Please also share the video of it if possible
Thanks
Samsung's tizen is still my favorite OS It always works the best and lasts the longest battery wise
Always quality content with Mr. Mobile 👍
Still using it and still have 10 days of battery ( 14 days when new)
Even with all the short comings, it looks like a good watch.
I'm now an Apple Watch guy but it's nice to see them still around in a way.
looking at my ticwatch pro 3 gps on the table, with its last update being in october
2021
I have a ticwatch pro but can not connect it to my pixel 9 Pro so thinking about the 5 pro as the next one
2:05 OMG this is Kyiv! This is where I live! A glass bridge lol
Does it have gestures like the ticwatch pro 3..were you can flick through your notifications by flicking your wrist up and down?
Just mentioning the ebike video here. Worth watching.
Mobvoi was my first smart watch and tbh if fossil hasn't fixed their waterproofing issues with the recent generations of it's hybrid watch u might have to switch back
Oh! Have you tried out the Sony Wena line, yet? I love my Wena 3, despite the japanese software.
I was looking forward to seeing critical review about the abandoned ticwatch 3 ultra gps with no software update
We are still running wearOS 2.0
Sooner or later all apps non upgradable
Is there a find my watch and or find my phone option built into that watch like the Samsung Galaxy?
I have wanted a rollable smart watch
I have had so many smart watches from the moto 360 and fossil watch and xaimi watch , the problem is i find them to heavy and not enough features such as playing music on a watch
The battery is always the problem on smart watches , i dont know whether i would wear a smart watch again
I like the Saliva reference in the thumbnail
I'm planning to buy a TikTok Pro 5, and I'm an iPhone 15 Pro Max user, so I want to use it in conjunction with my phone, but can I use it in the same way as an Android phone?
If it's different, what's the difference?
2:50 I must be one of the few people who doesn't use the assistant on my Galaxy Watch, neither Google Assistant nor Bixby.
Heres hopeing for usb c with the next version
What's the best dumb smart watch? I just want something that syncs time and maybe vibrates with a notification.
My 2018 ticwatch pro still ticking in 2023. Yes, it lag as hell, but still do a pretty good job for displaying notification and of course showing time. 😅
But after seeing the rotating button as its feature, I think it's the time for upgrading my 5 years watch with a new one.
