    The Ray-Ban RB3029 Outdoorsman II is definitely vintagy. You don’t even need to hesitate when saying that. I sold that style in my father’s shop when I was a little kid un the 70s, so you can say it with more confidence. In fact all Ray-Ban Outdoorsman Aviator looked like that, at least until the 80s. Not sure about later. Lots of excellent choices.

    You guys are awesome for having the SFW measurement. So many companies don't publish the entire front width and it is very important

      Glad you found it to be helpful Matt and thank you for the kind words! We've found that most people have a hard time identifying the right size frame for themselves online, which is why we created the SportRx Frame Width!

      @@sportrxeyewear genius idea, and marketed well with a name.
      Whoever had the idea to push that forward and make it a thing deserves a beer and a hearty handshake at least 😆 🤣
      For me, with a smaller head for a guy, I've got to really match the lens width, bridge, and base curvature to figure out what is going to look good.
      I can go large, but it then has to fit in the sense of looking bold and not cartoonish. Some styles are obviously better for that than others.

    The bayonet style is to make the glasses sit better and be easier to put on or take off when you're wearing a flight helmet or flight headset. I have the Randolph in bayonet, and I love them for the same reasons you mentioned, but the bayonet temple style fails when you're adding sweat and large motion into the equation, because then - without the support of the flight helmet or headset - the glasses (with glass lenses especially) will slide off your face and possibly fall to the ground.

    Randolph makes their Aviator in 3 different lens sizes 52mm, 55mm, and 58mm. I was actually wondering recently what the SFW would be for each (well, at least for 55 and 58mm). 136 was mentioned in the video but it didn’t say for which lens width.

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Wallace! Great question. For the Randolph Aviator the SFW for the 52mm is 132, 55mm is the 136 and the 58mm is 143. Hope this helps!

    Base curve 6 aviator sunglasses allow way too much light in from the sides for general use IMHO. They are fine for flying, which is actually their purpose. Maybe driving as well. But dilating your pupils then giving your eyes a blast of sun from the sides is a recipe for eye problems
    Cheers

    • @sportrxeyewear
      @sportrxeyewear  ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the strength of the Rx, what lens material you select, and the amount of lens real estate (or volume). If you call in, an optician can take down your info and provide a quote about lens thickness. Or use our chat feature on SportRx.com!

    Does anyone know of any Aviators that go larger than 62mm 63mm? I'm 6'5 and i while the standard 62mm frames xl frames do fit the width of my head i feel like i could go up some and have the lenses cover more of my face and eyebrows. Whatever glasses michael jackson wore look huge like over 70mm frames but they're probably museum pieces.
