I’m hearing Shostakovich in the final movement, and a Ravel in the second. It made me wonder if Stravinsky is purposefully making this piece as an homagerie (a word I just invented)
Absolutely brilliant performance! Such a vitality and freedom.
Very beautiful performance and record. Also thank you for this score-video. A lot useful.

a little of Tchaikovsky's serenade for strings in this...warms the heart.

Really outstanding...bravo Esa- Peka and the orchestra...great job...
Encore un chef d'oeuvre du maitre!
The opening movement reminds me a lot of Prokofiev!
stravinsky - the master of sounding like other people
Lol that V-I at 7:06
Doesn't it kind of feel like a jab at classical forms? It doesn't feel like an unironic return to the tonic, that's for sure!
Bernard Herrmann must have worshipped Stravinsky!
I hear some echoes of Korngold in the second movement, namely the extensive use of compound intervals and the Viennese sound.
Don't make me laugh....Korngold...
@@gliesedgliese1179 what's the problem with Korngold ?
@@orgue2999 the problem is musical elitism, as always.
@@gliesedgliese1179 Korngold who was composing at an elite level before he was even a teenager.
The minor 2nd reborn!
excelente version, bravo ! 👏👏👏
I definitely read that title as "Basie" and was very confused
Though he did write a piece for Woody Herman's band. Ebony Concerto.

Eine ganz saubere, sehr gut gespielte Fassung, aber leider so kühl und unsensibel!
Nicht jede Musik muss Feuer und Flamme sein!

technically good, but I cant listent to more than a few minutes. who decided Stravinsky should be played robotically?
Would you suggest a better performance onTH-cam?
Anche un grande come Stravinsky ha diritto di scrivere musica noiosa.
Come mai crede che questa sia musica noiosa?
