Indian education is also going that way and its worse because even our schooling is private. I used to pay INR 600 per month school fees in 2000, now in 2023 its increased to 5000, according to inflation increase it should have been INR 2500 but its double which means education is going to get more expensive. By 2040 fees will be INR 30000 for private schools.

      @dee2ttown ปีที่แล้ว +2

      FACTS!

    • @froodtube
      @froodtube ปีที่แล้ว +1

Starting salaries are usually a little clipped so if a company likes a candidate they can readily give them several raises within the first few years. Ivy leaguers generally get the high visibility jobs and get fast-tracked if they perform.
Outside of Ivy league schools, college degree salaries have dropped notably because colleges no longer get their funds from corporate grants for delivering educated products those corporations want. Colleges get their funds directly from students who now have access to government guaranteed loans, so colleges don't worry about delivering a degree with earning potential for students, they worry about offering degrees that sound "fun" to all the candidates with government cash in hand.
When they can't pay the loans back, they get mad that a degree in "beer brewing" isn't worth the $200k debt they accumulated.
There is no 'debt forgiveness' or 'cancellation' Palki is using the wrong term. The colleges are not paying the money back. The banks are not allowing the loans to go unpaid.
The only question is whether the people who took the loans have to pay for them, or whether the taxpayer is paying it for them. "If you don't want to pay for the education you bought, I sure don't want to pay for the education you bought." It actually punishes the people who went to trade schools and did not get a degree or take on the debt by their own choice.

The increase in tuition at Princeton is due to a change in financial aid there. If your gross household income is less than 100k, everything is completely covered. If it's between 100 - 150k (I believe that's the next bracket range), you only pay for about 7000 per year. The only people who pay the entire tuition, excluding outside scholarship, are those who can truly afford it.
Note: these bracket ranges are for an American nuclear family I believe, and are flexible to change. I know Yale has this system, and I'm not sure of the rest of the Ivies. Still, the financial aid package at each is Ivy League is much more nuanced than what was stated in this video. While I'm not arguing against the trend in rising cost of higher education and lower student enrollments, I just wanted to clarify this point for the Ivies.

Thats how they are able to subsidize the tuition for the US students, as they print the money from international students.

The 8 Ivy Leagues aren't the 8 best in the World nor in the US too while the IITs though they are good with couple of areas, not so great with many other areas as 1 needs More than Just Natural Sciences and Formal Sciences to do well (May state that many who do well in USA have IITs but many landed in USA for Higher Education and went beyond Just the IITs where they have US Education which includes Satya Nadella who never studied at an IIT). The 8 Ivy Leagues started as Top Universities for Sports that also had Academic Excellence though not the 8 best in the US itself.
Try to move beyond USA that has Couple of things going on including Innovation and Good Universities in the World but when it comes to Infrastructure, the US faces challenges while the US is ranked only in the World's Top 30 amongst the World's Leading Educational Institutions starting from Primary Education which can be seen under the Education Database Webpage of the World Top 20 Website (Ranks the World's Best Education System starting from Primary Education where US is 29th while India is way worse while South Korea is Asia's Best in 2nd Spot in the World where South Korea does well for World University Rankings along with China including HK as well as Japan and Singapore where these are amongst Asia's Best for Educational System and are Asia's Best for Innovation under the Global Innovation Index Rankings where US is 2nd and usually in the Top 3 along with Sweden while Switzerland is usually the World's Best for Innovation and is currently the World's Best Too where South Korea is 6th, Singapore 7th and so on).
US isn't even the World's Richest by the Median Wealth where USA has the Highest Inequality in the Developed World where the World's Richest by the Median Wealth belongs to Australia followed by Belgium followed by New Zealand where Australia has the World's Highest Minimum Wages in the World which is why Australia HAS NO TIPPING CULTURE unlike USA and India. Australia has Top 3 to Top 5 Financial Literacy System in the World while USA is way behind. Australia also has 1 of the Best Healthcare Systems in the World including Medicare Australia while USA faces challenges including with Medicare USA. USA also has High Debts with Educational Loans unlike Australia.
Overall, USA has so many challenges while for Most Economic Development and Human Development Rankings in the World, Nordic Nations are the World Leaders where even though they have High Expenses and Taxes, they are also Amongst the World's Happiest as their Governments do well for their Nation including the Sovereign Fund that Norway as well as Free Education even for International Students in Norway and couple more European Nations too.
An older 1st Cousin of mine, Ranjit Thomas CFA is just 1 IITian from the family though there are many more. Ranjit Thomas was 1 of the Rank-holders and Top All-Rounders from IIT Madras and IIM Calcutta who was the Project Leader at Boston Consultancy Group before becoming the Vice-President in Equity at Swiss Re before he became Senior Partner at Tracer Capital while now, he's a Professor at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School + Managing Partner at Spice Capital Advisors + CFA Examiner.
Our uncle was also from IIT Madras who landed in the US between 1968 and 1970 for Studies and then settled there. There are couple more from IITs, IIMs as well as Vellore CMC along with few from AIIMS Delhi and so on within the family.
Though apart from those, there are ones from Harvard University including Harvard Business School, Wharton School from University of Pennsylvania, Oxford Uni, Cambridge Uni, Cornell Uni, Columbia Uni, National Uni of Singapore, Royal College of Pathologists UK after studying at Vellore CMC (mom), Royal College of Anaesthetists and Surgeons Ireland, Melbourne Uni, Sydney Uni and so many more worldwide (the family members are products of these institutes worldwide apart from IITs, IIMs and so on).
Another older 1st cousin from that same family is Roy Koruth who was a product of Oxford University whose mother was a product of Vellore CMC (mom's oldest sister like mom was a product of Vellore CMC). Roy and his 2 sisters were born in UK where his 2 sisters are products of Edinburgh University.
My sister is neither from an IIT nor from the Ivy Leagues. She was on Scholarship at both WUSTL and Vanderbilt Universities, 2 Top 20 US Universities where she was on Dean's List at the Former University and an Honors Student at the Latter University (She did her Internship while studying at these 2 Universities). That led her to get into Deloitte within Finance in USA, 1st in Atlanta and then in Chicago. She became the Senior Finance Manager in Deloitte at Chicago before she shifted over to Elevance Health, 1 of America's Largest Health Insurance Firms where she deals with Mergers and Acquisitions. Our brother too is nether from an IIT nor from the Ivy Leagues as he studied at VIT (Vellore) for Engineering before getting into University of Southern California for Engineering. He has been working with Business Intelligence and Database Programming including with HP before his current 1 at Blue Cross Blue Shield Association that's again into Health Insurance in USA. I too never studied at IIT nor at the Ivy Leagues though did study at University of Sydney and have been doing fine within Business and Information Technology sectors within Oceania and Asia.
So, Ivy Leagues aren't the World's 8 Best nor US' 8 Best in any case as there are Top Universities like Stanford too from USA and many others too worldwide (Not Just Ivy Leagues) - so can always go for alternatives worldwide too to do well worldwide as EDUCATION JUST COMPLEMENTS THE QUALITY SKILLS and WORK EXPERIENCE that 1 has which has MORE WEIGHT THAN EDUCATION.

Sadly Reality is Many Indian Firms Too Face Challenges and Not Just Firms from Worldwide. Electricity that started in 1870s of Industrial Revolution 2, the Basics of Late 19th to Early 20th Century still not fixed with Frequent Power Cuts and High Voltage Fluctuations. Unfortunately, the Biggest Fraudsters, Scammers, Cheaters, Liars from India are North Indians who will shift blame to South Indians, Whole World (But that doesn't mean South Indians are Better as they too have Scams, Frauds, Cheating, Lying, etc too). North Indians Kept Talking Too High, Mighty in Ancient Times-Knocked out each other and knocked by Invaders a Lot too. South Indian Kingdoms too were Fighting and had Invaders Too starting from before the Greeks but Knocked them plus South Indian Kingdoms were Trading with Greeks, Romans, Southeast Asia etc. That's why World's 2 Richest Temples that are Old Too are in South India while the World's Largest Temple is in Cambodia that came up through the Chola Descendant. Today too it's quite the same as Indian Government stated where the Worst States of India by High Poverty, High Illiteracy & Low Education, Low Healthcare & Worst Standards of Living for Most are Bihar the Worst State of India with 124 Million People that's More than the 13th Most Populated Country of Philippines, Uttar Pradesh having 240 Million People that's More than Pakistan, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Assam, Tripura where These 9 States Alone have More than 700 Million People or More than 50% Indian Population challenging Subsaharan Africa. (1)India is Broken by Ashoka Mody & (2)South vs North:India's Great Divide by Nilakantan RS are 2 RECENT GOOD BOOKS that Correlate with North Indian Mess. But No North Indians Love Talking Big All Over Social Media & Internet Without Learning their Lessons of Ancient Times & Without Changing thinking they will Automatically get their Silver Platters (Cambodia Vietnam Bangladesh Mexico etc including China itself are challengers to India's & Philippine Manufacturing due to Basics of Infrastructure including Electricity & Education in Mess where North India in Worse Mess due to Rest of Human Development too in Tatters. Most Modern Local Indians Inferior to Ancient Indians who gave Architecture Food Clothing Music etc where even NRIs & Foreigners with Indian Backgrounds have done better than Most Modern Local Indians especially Most Modern North Indians).
Next worst states of India are again from North India including states from Northeast India like Meghalaya. Though Not All North Indian States and Union Territories are Doing Bad as HP, Gujarat, Delhi etc are Doing Ok At Least to Few of them Doing Well Too.
Also, Philippines is Close to Being an Upper Middle Income Nation while India is Still Behind at the Lower End of Lower Middle Income Nation where Even Couple of African Nations are Upper Middle Income Nations. Malaysia is close to being a High Income Nation like China while Vietnam will become Developed by 2040. Brunei is already a High Income Nation with High Human Development Rankings even though it's Not Yet a Fully Developed Nation like Singapore. Thailand and the 4th Most Populated Nation in the World currently of Indonesia are also doing well and have Higher Per Capita Incomes than India. There are At Least 6 to 7 Nations within Southeast Asia that are doing ok to well which is why it's the Best Asian Region at the Moment (and 1 of the Fastest Growing Regions for Many Countries there).
Last 60 years, Philippines and India got knocked out by China, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Brunei, Indonesia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Oman, Israel, UAE and Many Central Asian Nations for Most Human Development and Economic Development Rankings where Japan was 1 of the Few Asian Nations ahead of Philippines and India in 1960s that's still ahead Today.
There are Very Few North Indian States and Union Territories like Delhi, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh etc that have done ok to well while All South Indian States have Lower Poverty Levels, Literacy Fine, Education and Skills Better, Good Healthcare and Better Standards of Living for Most where They are Contributing Worldwide Too and Not Just Within their States. The IT Capital of India is in South India. The Life Science Capital of India is in South India. The Finance Capital of India is in Central Indian State that's Closer to South India though has North Indian Culture and South Indian Culture Too. The 2 Richest Temples in the World are in South India while World's Largest Temple is in Cambodia because North Indians were Busy Fighting with Each Other a Lot thereby Leading to Getting Invaded by Foreigners Too. Keep Talking Away especially the 9 States of North India Alone having More than 700 Million People that are challenging Subsaharan Africa where the Next Worst States of India are again from North India including Northeast India including Meghalaya.
Lastly, No Kerala Model, Gujarat Model and Delhi Model faces challenges. I'm Not a Tamilian but Tamil Nadu has Not Only Many of India's Top Institutions for Sciences, Arts, Engineering, Business, Humanities, Medicine, etc - Many of Them are Amongst the World's Top Institutions. Tamil Nadu has 2 of India's Top 5 Hospitals in Apollo Hospital and Vellore CMC. Tamil Nadu also does well with Human Development Rankings within India where it ranks within India's Top 10 for Health. Tamil Nadu is again amongst India's Top 3 to 4 States for Economic Side with Many Industries doing well. Kerala, Gujarat and Delhi do sort of well in few to couple of areas while Tamil Nadu does well in More Areas than the other 3.
So, yes, Long Way for Both Philippines and India to Go where FASTEST GROWING REGION IN ASIA is SOUTHEAST ASIA while WORST is SOUTH ASIA where INDIA faces More Challenges Having Rubbish Neighbors Too though Bangladesh is A Challenger Too to India.

Nobody is forcing anybody to go and study in an Ivy League University (or any other university for that matter). There are plenty of other options. Learn some coding for instance , get some Microsoft or Google Certifications and start off with a $100k salary, while the others are still studying! That is just one route. But there are many other similar routes. I know of plumbers, electricians, and chefs making high six-figure salaries. We live in a free world.

Does anyone know that expats in Singapore pay anywhere between $40000 to $55000 per year for school education ? Just think abt the amount spent on school education from Nursery until Grade 12. (referring to international schools as it is almost 0% chance for a foreigner to get into local schools). Considering this, isn't Ivy cheaper?

While we make enough now according to these ivy's financial aid calculator, a education at the cost of $400K is no joke. If anyone wants advice on how to get into these schools, that might be something we can help out with.

Palki need to do more research before talking in public forum. All these Ivy league has massive endowment and grants available for students to reduce the fees. They pay an average of 20-25k and state universities is around 15k. The price tag of 90k is something for ultra rich students coming from China or India with tons of cash to spend! When they can afford, why can't they pay!! Right?

Good education and research need money. These schools are able to charge more because they have built their trust in ensuring quality and employability of their graduates. Just like any good brand, they have earned the trust. Indian universities, both public and private, are still relatively “cheap” because employability from these unis is horrible, return on investment is far worse and let’s not even talk about the quality.
Therefore instead of spreading propaganda on how expensive overseas education could be, make an episode on what is lacking in Indian education and how could that be better.

Why is this news? Of course, everything is getting more expensive. How about some insights to supplant that theory or the misleading title???
Let me provide a starter -- Look, let's see things for what they are. Ivy Leagues are now a premium American product / brand / offering. Much like, say, Apple Computers. They may not necessarily be the best computing platform for you, but they're much-coveted, and carry a snob value (for some nameless reason). And so, they are at liberty to dictate their pricing in an increasingly competitive and 'brand-crazy' world.
Okay, now, all Palki oglers & fans, don't get me wrong. I'm not commenting just to run her down. She's alright, but sometimes she comes out with these dud news stories.
I don't know why people just keep pointing me to her news links as though she's announcing a new world order or something. Perhaps they're enamoured by her looks rather than substance. Me, i actually find her deadpan face and her contrived script flow quite off-putting.
In fact, her recent interview with TRS Talks was quite a revelation. She came across as vain, unprepared, inarticulate and even ill-informed.
Olive branch: The only things i absolutely love about her are her unabashed India love, her very decent dress code and her low tolerance for LW narratives. However, her due diligence and reading fluency can improve by miles!!!
