    That was such a bomb studio. Was this a custom scale in Marbles or one of the onboard options? I see that Deja Vu is engaged. Curious how to get a set of notes in there without any weird ones appearing. I see that I can program some in. Is that what you did here?

    • @Lightbath
      @Lightbath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yep. Exactly. That’s my own scale carvings. That’s the trick. Choose the full scale you want to use and then three more progressively simpler versions of that scale by removing more and more dissonances along the way and program that in. I can walk you through my philosophy and approach to scale programming in a session if you want. In fact I just worked with someone on that last week. If so, you know how to reach me 😉

    perhaps a silly question but what do you use for output? or do you go from the modules direct to your recorder. i see on modular grid there is no output section. apologies i'm a bit new to this

    • @Lightbath
      @Lightbath  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In most Loom pieces everything is run into Clouds and then I just go directly out to my audio recorder. In some pieces, Rings is its own channel and Plaits into Clouds is the other. But in all cases, it’s just straight out of the modular into the recorder. Most mixers and recorders and audio interfaces can handle modular level without the need for an output module.

  • @HousePlant_Ambient
    @HousePlant_Ambient ปีที่แล้ว

I almost can't believe that you can get that much sound of such a small system :D Seems like I need to check out Plaits, Marbles and also Stages. Never seen any demos of them so far.

    • @Lightbath

    @HousePlant_Ambient 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    So, Clouds had stopped being manufactured, did Mutable replaced it? Made a better one?

    • @Lightbath
      @Lightbath  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Clouds won’t ever be replaced but something different along those lines will be released at some point. It’s a modern classic and is very unique. There are many Clouds clones and micro versions that are really great. I prefer Microcell by Grayscale as it ‘fixes’ a design ‘flaw’ of the original and is still a little smaller.

      Good question. I hadn’t thought of that but found this at the bottom of the manual on the Mutable Instruments website:
      TIPS AND TRICKS
      If DEJA VU is past 12 o’clock and the loop length is set to 1, the outputs remain frozen in the same state.

  • @SlowDescentToWild

    If I were to buy a case like this (with plaits) would i be able to use it with a Moog grandmother? I ask because plaits is -3 - plus 7 cv and Moog is -5 To plus 5...

    • @Lightbath
      @Lightbath  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, I see. Well, it sounds like that’s nothing that a little attenuation/offset can’t handle. But you might not even need to do that for it to work just fine, especially if you stay to the middle of the range. But I would suspect it should work just fine. I expect to receive a Matriarch this winter so I’ll be able to confirm the Moog + Eurorack compatibility firsthand... eventually.

    • @SlowDescentToWild

And I shot the intro with my face upon the suggestion of some filmmaker friends. I dunno how much I’ll keep it up as I sort of just miss the simple musical videos of my hands.
