    1978 junk #101 shovelhead offset cylinder boring FL FX harley kwik-way by tatro machine
    this is not a full motor rebuild but just some bit work so that the owner can assemble the motor himself. this saves him some money because i only do the machining and cleaning that he can not do. he does what he can and i do what is left. it is always a good thing when the owner gets involved in their project.

    Just got myself a used old rusty kwikway and its cleaned up nicely and working real well, and your video was the best to show me how to use it,, You are helping me rebuild these flathead engines i have and It really is doing me and others an awesome service for people wanting to do their own work and do it the right way. Thanks Tatro.

    What is your take on using/not using torque plates?

    • @TatroMachine
      @TatroMachine  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      i don't use them because they do not repeat the warpage they cause in the cylinder bores. every time you put them on they are different. without repeatability there is no accuracy so why use them. that is their only job and they fail at it. i get the same crappy bore warpage whether i use them or not so i chose not to.

    What keeps the centering fingers from flying out when you turn on the boring bar?

    • @mjm7187
      @mjm7187 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The id of the cylinder rubs on them creating a nice burr on the centering pins and matching gouge in the cylinder. This burr on the pin makes it easier to remove them when finished.

    Why not use a snap gauge? Just saying

    • @TatroMachine
      @TatroMachine  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      because a bore micrometer is many times more accurate.
