If Richard doesn't win this he needn't worry. His peer and equally brilliant fellow thespian Gary Oldman was in the same boat (yep I got a Withnail line in there!) last year. Gary had criminally never been nominated before Smiley in TTSS in 2012. But then on his 2nd nom last year for Churchill he finally won. Oldman and Grant both worked together on Dracula of course. Both great actors who should've got Bafta and Oscar noms for two films which came out within months of each other: Withnail and Sid Vicious in 1986/87.
I wonder what a 30/wk bedsit in Notting Hill Gate costs today, 36 years later! Add a zero and double it I expect (assuming they're not all empty Russian/Saudi investments)
No, they'll be rented out by white kids from the home counties paying £1,000 a month and moaning about their long, 10-minute commute into central London.
One of the most underrated British actors, *finally* gets an Oscar nod. So pleased for the geezer. Great actor, nice bloke.
One of England's great character actors. He also does great narration to he did a series on the 80 and he was brilliant
Born in Swaziland. Studied English and drama at university in Capetown, South Africa.
His tweet the other day where he talks about happy he was about getting an Oscar nomination was really great, so happy for him
His book "With Nails" is terrifically funny and moving and, well, everything - grab a copy if you can. Hope he wins the Oscar.

Mr. Oldman and mr.grant are longtime bestfriend
Grant should've won an oscar for HUDSON HAWK!
The midnight cowboy connection hadn't occurred to me. Indeed, very similar in many ways.
I didn’t really love the movie but I loved Richard in it. He was great.

😂 So true.
I always thought REG was a classy fellow...but why then the gawdy Breitling??? Should be a vintage Rolex datejust or small vintage IWC.
