Ann I love the poster in the old frame and the garland above the mirror is so gorgeous. One of my Aunts always had that candy in a glass candy dish with a lid when I was young. (I’m 77) and it was such a treat to be able to get a piece of it. Enjoy your evening. Love and blessings 💚❤️🌲❤️💚
I spent this past year canvassing garage sales, thrift stores, regular stores and antique shops for decorative large to small boxes and hat boxes. I never spent more than 4.00 on one. I amassed enough to wrap every single gift we bought and my Christmas display is an old Department store window. I have a gorgeous brass barber chair that I will stack some on, some candy machines and huge candy tins to make towers with them. The tree is tall and thin and decorated in soda fountain and candy store foods, with large lollipops in its tree stand.
Wow, I love those vintage newspapers! On Ancestry, I have found some old newspapers from my great-great grandmother's time from the early 1900s. I love how the news of the day is about how Miss Hatties sister came from Oklahoma City to visit for the week and Owen and Ruby were celebrating their silver wedding anniversary! Also, I didn't know they still made ribbon candy! My Aunt Ettie had beautiful Milk Glass pedestal dishes full of those candies! Love your style, Ann!
Love it all. So cozy and old fashioned. I am 73 , so the candies really brought back memories. Except... left out in the air they will totally get sticky . But oh that flavor takes me back.
The vintage department store gift boxes are fabulous! Brings back lots of memories, especially shopping with my Dad for my Mom’s Christmas gift. Can’t wait to see your remaining decor and lovely vibe!♥💚
Oh goodness, love that you wrap a bow on vintage store boxes!!!s I have a couple from popular department stores from the '50's...some before from my mother's shopping....L.A. area..Bullock's Wilshire, I. Magnin,,,the Broadway!! I put out candles that my mother decorated with every Christmas..so those boxes will be set along side and maybe even my Dad's Rotary plaque!! Love this! Thank you!
Hello Ann!! Love the old newspaper!!♥️♥️ It is fun to see what the past advertising looked like then!! Such a warm theme!!🎄 I too have fond memories of going to big department stores. My Mom would take me to see Santa at Marshall Fields in Chicago!! The store windows were fabulous and the toy department was magical!!🎄🎄 Enjoy your time decorating and building memories for your children and grandchildren too!!🎄🎄♥️♥️
I’m a new subscriber. Love how your decor evokes memories which at least to me is what Christmas is all about. I love unique thrifted items but the nostalgic family keepsakes are by far the best. You pull them out every year and that warm feeling is always there to meet you.❤ looking forward to more of your content ☺️
I have the same bell picks !!! When I saw them last year I went nuts, they are wonderful in a vase with greenery or sticking out of a garland on a table !!
@ I I was shocked they didn’t sell out , I don’t think people know what they are , unless you take them out of the bin and ours were on the top shelf on the corner edge . I love them , and I love your style , I bought some great wooden cigar boxes after seeing you use them 😆
I grew up in Pgh and remember visiting Santa in a large dept store with my bro. We got our picture taken and I still have it in a holiday paper book-like frame . As a treat we got a box of marbles from Santa.
Sometimes digging pays off! I've found lots of gems by digging!😉 Those old coffee table books like the "Better Homes" & "Southern Living" sometimes have some great pictures in them that can be framed! Theres even A quick & easy mod podge technique you can use to make the picture look like an oil painting! I have several coffee table books i've framed pictures from. I saw some beautiful art in the thrift store!😊 The poster looks great in the frame! And hanging under the mirror. The swag is gorgeous! I agree with the tree choice, its a beautiful tree! Although I don't really follow trends..i love all the bells! And all the different shapes & sizes! But I keep the few i have out year round! I want some if the larger ones on the rope. The old newspapers are really cool! Oh the ribbon candy is very nostalgic for me! My grandma would order all these tins of candy, every Christmas, from the Sears & JC Penny Christmas catalogs! She'd prefer the ribbon candy, the filled & unfilled candy. And then all these boxes of different color/favor soft candycane sticks. She would fix me & my cousins a little bag with some of each kind!🥹 I thought the ribbon candy was just so pretty! The entryway looks beautiful! I love all you did & it does tell a story & give an old school vibe! Thanks for sharing & hope you have a blessed rest of your week!🙏🏻
Hi Ann~ Looks wonderful , you have an eye(s) for details !! The old newspapers from your grandpa what a keepsake.. Looking forward to seeing all of your Christmas decorations!! do you bake a lot of cookies ?! Blessings Paula

So pretty! My biggest memory as a kid..was when my Meme got the Sears & Roebuck Christmas catalog! (Late 1950’s and early 1960’s) ❤
Oh yes!!! I can only imagine how fun that was! 🥰
Noticed the paper was 1970, the year we married. Wish I had saved some of ours! Love it!
Oh wow! Yes. The 1970 was saved because a family member was featured in it! 🤣
I too like the old store gift boxes.
Thank you! I’m looking for more! 🥰

I'm always surprised to hear anyone shops with Shein or Temu, given what is known about how their prices are so low. Yikes.
I guess I’m not familiar with the reference. I’m sorry if there’s something that was wrong with that. I didn’t mean for it to be offensive on any level. 🥰
